Chapter 95: The Death Of Hattie LaRue
"Awe," I chuckled, letting my head drop. "But if I do that, all our fun will be gone. I’m having fun, aren’t you?"
I heard Brittney panting in front of me as she tried to catch her breath. "You are fucking crazy, you know that, right?"
"Oh, I know," I assured her. "I’m nuttier than a five-pound fruitcake. But aren’t all the fun people just a little crazy? We are the ones who make sure that the rest of you know you’re normal. Bless your heart."
Whether I told Brittney and Antoine the secret of the Dragon Lair or not, I was going to die. I might as well make them so pissed that they ended this shit faster. I had a date with death, and I didn’t want to be late.
Besides, there was a big part of me that hated giving these two anything that they wanted. I wouldn’t even accept a wish if they wished for my Sins to come to me.
"There is no point in drawing this out," grunted Antoine. "Dante is going to realize that something is going on, and we don’t have the time for this. Now that she is out of the way, you will have an easier time trying to seduce him."
"I wish you the best of luck with that," I chuckled, tears coming down my cheeks. I didn’t know if I was crying from the pain or from my laughter. Either way, I wasn’t the only crazy one in the room if she thought that Dante would be interested in her simply because I was no longer around. "When he sends you to Hell, let me know how your plan worked out."
I never saw the bullet that ended my misery.
And yes... that was a blind joke.
-----
Antoine looked at the girl hanging limply between the pillars, the blood dripping out of her with every passing second. Soon enough, the blood would stop. He hadn’t given her a kill shot, so her heart was still pumping away.
But that didn’t mean she wasn’t dying.
Sending Brittney upstairs to give him an alibi, Antoine went about unchaining the small woman from the pillars.
Her body dropped to the floor with a muffled thud as wounds that had started healing re-opened.
A part of him was sad at this creature’s death.
He had tortured so many people that it was beginning to become boring. They all started off in one of two ways: they either begged to be let go, or they didn’t say anything at all.
It was the big fuckers who thought that they could withstand the pain he could give them, but even then, after a while, they were no better than the others.
But her... Hattie LaRue... was different.
She never begged but never refused to speak, either. She screamed when he hit a nerve along her spine, but she still maintained a sense of humor until the very end.
This tiny being who created a huge wrench in his plan was everything he was looking for. And yet, for an undeserving woman, he killed her.
"If it is any consolation, I’m sorry," he said, gently picking Hattie up. Cradling her in his arms, he walked out the back door. No one seemed to have even noticed that it was here, but when he was exploring the tower a week ago, he came across it.
Snow had sealed it shut, so it took him some time to get rid of it, but otherwise, it was the perfect exit to dump the bodies.
And he was sure that there would be more bodies.
After all, he was just getting started.
Walking down the path he had made for himself, he smiled as the snow started falling heavier and heavier. It was like God was on his side as his footprints vanished under the fresh blanket.
Lifting Hattie over his head, he threw her up onto the barbed wire at the top of the fence.
Dante had really thought of everything when he built this tower, including chain link fences with spiked wires at the top. The body was caught by the wire, waiting for him to come up and push her over onto the other side.
Killing and hiding the body was so much easier when there were zombies around. They got rid of all the evidence without him having to lift a finger. It was perfect.
Climbing up the fence, Antoine couldn’t help but smirk to himself as he heard the low moaning of a small horde of zombies off in the distance. They seemed to be able to smell the fresh blood still flowing from Hattie.
Antoine paused for a moment when he reached the top.
It seemed a bit cruel after everything that he had done to her for her to survive long enough to witness a zombie end her life.
Meh, it was the zombie apocalypse. They needed to eat, too.
With a firm shove, he pushed Hattie’s body over the fence, never once noticing the chunk of skin and staple that was still clinging to the barbed wire.
There was a muffled thud as Hattie landed on the ground, the snow insulating the sound so it couldn’t travel far.
Shivering from the cold, Antoine quickly climbed back down and hurried to the basement. He would need to wash the floors and take a quick shower before he was seen. The zombies might have disposed of the body, but he needed to clean up the murder scene.
-----
"No!!" screamed Greed as he pounded against the mirror. He was the only one in the throne room at the moment, watching everything that that human had done to his woman. "Hattie!! You can’t die like this."
While she was technically still alive, it was only a matter of time. She was still bleeding, and frost was starting to bite at the outer edges of her wounds. Soon, she would be so cold that her body wouldn’t be able to regulate her temperature.
The zombies wouldn’t kill her... they couldn’t.
But the cold was another matter entirely.
He needed to do something, and he needed to do it fast.
Gathering all the power he could summon, he watched as seven souls, recently collected, appeared on his hand. Their white orbs were tainted with darkness, but that didn’t bother him too much. What he needed was their power.
Closing his eyes, he made his first wish ever.
"Send her to someone who can heal her."
