Chapter 403: Two For One
Bishop looked at me, confused. I had to say, it was a cute look on him... like a little puppy that was trying to figure out what its owner was saying.
"I don’t understand. How is that possible?" asked Bishop, tailing along beside me. Now that I knew what to look for, I could see Tank using the shadow to remain invisible.
"Well, you see, when little demons don’t want to die, even when they are being naughty and deserve death, they escape Hell by any means necessary. Now, Hell isn’t that nice of a place. So the demons all die, leaving behind a little seed that looks like a dandelion seed. Those seeds managed to be pushed out when Hell imploded, and they came to Earth. Those who landed on a human were happy and buried in as deep as possible into the human. Those seeds that weren’t so lucky, those that landed on something not human, had to wait there until a human came by. They are kind of like ticks. But instead of taking blood, they consume the human soul and either bond or take over."
I knew that I was rambling, but I was having fun, so I really didn’t care if Bishop could understand what I was actually trying to say.
"Réne? Alicia? Sophia?" muttered Bishop. Coming to a complete stop, I turned around until I was staring at the angel.
"Are you hoping to give yourself an excuse?" I asked, cocking my head to the side. I had to admit, I was a bit disappointed if that was the case. I thought he was going down this whole revenge path, but if he wasn’t committed...
Well, I had enough men with commitment issues; I didn’t need more.
"No," replied Bishop quickly. "I was just wondering how that worked."
"Each demon belongs to a subcategory," I said, turning away from the man. "They are all classified under their Sin, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t intermingle. And I haven’t gotten close enough to those three to actually see their seeds. But the demon inside of them? It can’t possess them. Not really. They have to have some sort of connection. You can’t use demon seeds as an excuse for bad behavior."
"All good," replied Bishop, holding up his hands in defeat. "But back to my point. Do you still grant wishes?"
"I’m the Devil. If I didn’t grant wishes and sign contracts, what use would I be?" I replied sarcastically.
"I want revenge on the entire New Dawn Sanctuary," announced Bishop like it was some well-kept secret. Hell, I knew he wanted revenge the moment everyone turned on him. And what normal person wouldn’t?
He had been betrayed.
He had sacrificed everything for Sophia, and she fucked him up the ass without even saying sorry or offering lube. The poor man.
Tsking softly, I shook my head. "I have no idea what that means," I grunted. "Did you not listen to me when I said no vague wishes? You have no idea what will happen if you wish for revenge. How do you know that you will even get the revenge that you desire? Hell, revenge could be that Réne cheats on Alicia with Sohpia and has a child. I mean, that is a form of revenge... but I don’t think that is what you have in mind."
Bishop stared at me like I had gone crazy. "No... I couldn’t care less about that."
"Right?!?" I sighed, happy. "So, what does revenge look like to you?"
The man stopped and just looked at me silently as if I had all the answers in the world. I mean, I probably did. I just didn’t remember them. I was hoping that having a completed soul would help with that whole issue, too.
But enough about me, this was Bishop’s moment.
"I wish that I could kill Réne, Alicia, and Sophia myself. I also want to take over the New Dawn Sanctuary and turn it into something useful."
"Useful?" I scoffed. "I’ve been there. You need like a major purge and a deep scrub before that place can turn into something useful."
Bishop nodded, but I could still see something inside his eyes that made me a bit wary. He hoped. Whatever he had in his head, he had hope.
And that was not a good thing.
"You know that there is always a price to a wish, right? I mean, I can give you a two for one, since you have two wishes, but I still have to take payment. I’m not that nice."
"I never expected you to be," shrugged Bishop. "I’ll let you choose."
"Fucking idiot," both Tank and I snarled as one as Tank emerged from the shadows. "For an eternal being, you are dumber than a bag of bricks," I grumbled. "What would you consider to be an equal payment?"
"I’ll give up my angel soul," shrugged Bishop like it wasn’t that big of a deal. Oh my fucking god, this man was dense.
"First, I didn’t think you had an angel soul. Second, are you an idiot? That ’soul’ is the only thing keeping the demon seeds away from you. If you give it up, then you will become a demon."
"The only angel not to have a soul is the Angel of Death," said Bishop. "And I am willing to take the chance. Besides, the whole revenge thing isn’t all that angelic, now is it?"
"Fine," I agreed. "Deal accepted. I’ll let you know when you can start."
"What?" smirked Bishop, looking at Tank for a second before taking my hand. "You aren’t going to invite me over?"
"I mean, sure... if you want to play with Rexy. Otherwise, you go back to your own home and wait. After all, I have a few games of my own that I want to play with Alicia before you take her head."
"Who’s Rexy?" asked Bishop, looking at Tank.
"Rexy isn’t so much of a who as a what..." answered my hound. "And you really don’t want to know."
