Chapter 320: The Depths of Hell
Governor Marcus Delacroix, de facto leader of the Legislation Base, gritted his teeth as he listened to his wife fucking another man.
His body had been suffering every day for four years with Dengue Fever. Every day, he was in excruciating pain as it felt like his bones were rearranging themselves in his body. During the nights, his organs would start to fail and die, but by the time the sun arose the next morning, he was back to the picture of perfect health.
From there, he had exactly one hour to accomplish what he needed to accomplish for the day before the fever started again and the bone-melting pain.
This cycle had gone on for 1,461 days, and now, Marcus was just begging for death.
"Harder," groaned his wife as one of her security guards fucked her into the mattress. She was now the leader behind the scenes, manipulating everything in his name for her benefit. It had taken the bast the better part of two years to recover from the torrential rains and then the mutations of the humans who had survived.
At the lowest of the low, less than a hundred humans were surviving in the base, but now there were easily half a million.
"Interesting," murmured a soft voice as a man, a stranger, approached the bed that Marcus was lying on. He looked over in Delliah’s direction before turning his attention back to Marcus. "Don’t worry. I’ll be dealing with her later."
"Who are you?" gasped Marcus as his body started cramping up in pain. "How did you get in?"
"Always the same questions. Who am I? How did I get in? What is a better question is: what did you do to deserve the fate of meeting me?" purred the man as he stretched out a finger and flicked a sweat-soaked strand of hair off Marcus’ forehead.
"Who are you?" grunted the sick man, his eyes glazing over as he tried to focus on something. Seeing the blueish-white hair in front of him, Marcus clung to that sight.
Letting out a long sigh, the stranger grabbed one of the few chairs in the room and brought it over to the sickbed. "Fine. Let’s get this over with then, shall we? My name is Vael’Zirith, The Forsaken Abyss, but you can call me Khaos."
Marcus scrunched his brows as he tried to concentrate, even as his brain submitted to the fever. "I don’t understand. Are you a God?"
"To you? Probably," shrugged the man like it wasn’t that big of a deal. "But I have been around a lot longer than your very planet. To call me a God is to reduce me to something that such a small brain can comprehend. I am everything and nothing, all at the same time. I am the beginning and the end; I am both the light and the darkness, the order, and the chaos. But the most important thing that I am is none of those."
Marcus’ ears started to buzz as the pain in his body reached his head. His eyes went even more blurry until he could no longer see the man’s hair, but rather just a dark outline against the light grey walls of his room.
"I don’t—" started the dying man as he gasped for air. The muscles around his lunges were squeezing his organs, making it hard to even breathe, let alone speak.
"I know," nodded the man sagely. "But I feel that from one father to another, we should have a little talk. Père doesn’t really count. He was nothing more than a meat sack for a female demon, but you... you are a man: a human male who claimed my daughter as his own."
The voice of the man speaking seemed to vary in volume until Marcus simply gave up trying to understand what he was trying to say.
"Ah, yes," muttered the God under his breath. "Leave it to humans to wish for something that no one with any intelligence wants. Immortality. Well, I guess we can leave this conversation for another time when your head is more in it."
As Delliah continued to moan in ecstasy, her husband’s head was ripped off before his body was set on fire.
"It looks like we will have all of eternity to iron out just what you wanted to do to my daughter. But since I missed 22 years, I have a lot to make up for. Your head should be perfect."
As silently as he appeared, Khaos disappeared, his shadows sneaking into the Legislature Base after him.
"Ah, don’t kill the woman yet. She still has to experience some of what my daughter did," he called out, knowing that his orders would be obeyed.
Within minutes, the screams of the people below the building started to blend in with the screams of Delliah’s pleasure as her lover gave her everything she could ever wish for.
----
"I’m sorry," I said, blinking up at Adam as he continued to hold the gun to my head. "But Tank doesn’t go anywhere without me. If you want him, you have to take me, too."
My voice was so soft and silky that it didn’t line up with the face I was showing to the world, but that was fine. Adam and I clearly had a lot of time to work things through.
"That’s fine," agreed Adam, his arm never wavering for even a second. "I was already planning on taking you." Pushing me forward, Adam moved the gun so that he was now walking behind me, the muzzle pressing against the base of my skull.
"Even if I pulled the trigger, this shot probably won’t kill you," explained Adam as he wrapped his arm around my hip. It had to be an awkward position for him, but whatever floated his boat, I guess.
Tank, clearly displeased, fell into step on my other side, his head continuously moving between me and Adam.
"Besides, even if I do kill you, I have countless ways to bring you back to life."
Such a cheery man, who wouldn’t follow Adam into the depths of hell?
