Chapter 318: A New Trick

The looks of lust on the men and women inside of the conference room weren’t ones that I was unfamiliar with. However, instead of the looks being directed toward me, they were staring at Tank as if they had found some sort of priceless treasure.

Removing my hand from his back, the flames quickly died out, and Tank rolled his eyes as he looked over at me. "It’s okay, baby," I purred, scratching him behind the ear. "Let’s see who else can light your fire... hum?"

Now, I never claimed to be a rational person, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that I was already planning on where to dig the grave of anyone who was able to control the Hellhound.

Tank was mine, and I wasn’t sharing. The rest of the world would just have to get caught up on that fact.

"You need to leave," advised Jonas as he turned his smug smile toward me. "I don’t want you manipulating any of the results just to win our bet."

"Shouldn’t I be saying that to you?" I asked, somewhat confused. "After all, it’s all your words against mine if you don’t manage to ignite Tank. You have way more to lose than I have to gain at the end of the day."

"I’ve never had anyone question my word," hissed Jonas like I had just threatened to fuck his dead father.

"I’m staying here," I announced with a bright smile on my face. "But in order to be fair, I’ll go stand in the corner, okay?"

Getting out of the chair, I knelt down in front of Tank. "Don’t get hurt. This bet isn’t worth anything happening to you. If someone gets a little too handsy, let them know exactly what you can do. Okay? No matter what happens, I can clean up any mess that you make."

Kissing Tank on the nose, I backed away and went to lean against the wall behind Jonas.

"I would be careful if I were you," I told him softly, even as the first woman went up to Tank. Dropping to her knees, she held out a hand to let him get her scent. "If you aren’t, everyone in this room but me will die."

Jonas scoffed seconds before Tank made his move. Faster than lightning, he bit down on the hand that was held in front of him, detaching the appendage from the rest of her body. As blood started to pour out, it took the woman a second to register the pain.

Letting out an ear-piercing scream, she fell back onto her ass, skidding a bit in a puddle of her own blood. One of the men to her side quickly removed his belt before tying it around her bloody stump. "Get the regen!" he screamed, directing his voice over his shoulder.

The woman turned pale as she started trembling in shock. The man reached around her, pulling her body into his warmth. "Hush, Vicki," he murmured softly, even as she whimpered. "I have you. You will be fine. I won’t let anything happen to you."

The woman, Vicki, nodded her head weakly even as she looked over at Tank. "He needs to be put down," she announced, like she had the right to determine my man’s life or death. "There is no way he will be willing to submit to anyone."

"He does a good job submitting to me," I reminded them from my corner, even as I continued to stare at Jonas. "He is just picky about who he lets touch him."

Jonas’s jaw clenched as he fought back the words he wanted to say. "Captain Smythe is just one of many," he finally spat out after a second. "Even if she can’t do it, that doesn’t mean that nobody can."

"By all means," I smiled, waving my hand in front of me. "Impress me."

"Fine," growled the man crouched beside Vicki. "We only have to control him. It is Victoria’s fault for treating him nicely. I won’t."

Raising his hand, he clenched his fist and brought it down to the ground. Lightning struck right in front of Tank’s feet, but the Hellhound simply looked at the man unimpressed.

"I’ve heard of the expression ’too stupid to live’, but until this moment, I hadn’t really seen it in person." Okay, so that was a lie. I had seen too many people too stupid to live, but still, this guy had to take the cake. Did he really try to kill Tank with a single bolt of lightning?

Tank opened his mouth as he spat out the hand he had been holding like a treat. His teeth were stained with blood, but he looked so happy. "You aren’t kissing me until you brush your teeth," I called out, even as Tank started taking in a deep breath.

The entire room watched as his ribs started expanding, his eyes still gleaming with laughter as if he were the only one who knew the joke.

And truthfully, he really was the only one to see what was coming next.

The second he couldn’t take in another breath of air, he closed his mouth. "What the fuck?" murmured one of the nameless humans in the room. "What is he doing?"

Before anyone could respond, Tank opened his mouth, and fire poured out of it, searching for someone to kill.

"Ooh," I murmured, leaning forward so that I was practically whispering in Jonas’ ear. "That’s a new trick. My baby breathes fire. That will be perfect when it comes to dealing with annoying people. Who are you going to offer up next for a sacrifice?"

Even as I was speaking, the flame engulfed the man and woman on the floor in front of Tank, leaving them as nothing more than ashes in a matter of seconds. In fact, it happened so fast that no one was able to react until it was all said and done.

"Good boy," I called out. "At least now Jonas won’t need to worry about their supplies. Two less mouths to feed. How about we see if we can’t narrow that down even more?"
