Chapter 315: If I’m Not There
Chapter 315: If I’m Not There
The first thing that registered in my broken head was the sound of my own screams... the second was the sound of various men around me.
"Don’t touch me!" I scream, striking out at the hand I felt on my bare shoulder. "Don’t touch me!" I cried again. But this time, it wasn’t nearly as loud as my voice protested. I couldn’t even stand to hear the sound of my own screams without feeling the touch of that hand.
"Please," I begged, feeling the tears falling down my face. "Please don’t touch me."
"Hagatha Lucinda LaRue," growled a harsh voice in my ear. "No one is touching you, but I need you to snap out of this and come back to us."
My voice was cut off as I heard the person speaking to me. It didn’t sound like the man in the cage in front of me, but how did I know it wasn’t someone else in another cage? Or a guard?
"You’ll know when you open your eyes, Princess. We got out of Camp Hell, remember? You made a deal with the Alpha, and he was so scared of you that he escorted us to the gates himself just to make sure that you were gone. You won your fights, you were strong and brave and everything perfect. Just open your eyes and see the world for what it is, not the one in your head."
I scrunched my brows even as I felt a breeze passing over my skin. Flinching, I hugged myself even harder, trying to combat the cold.
"Find her a blanket," grunted another voice, the harsh sound as unfamiliar as the other male who was talking.
The moment I felt the fabric touching my skin, I flinched. "Where are the voices?" I murmured. My head was too empty; I didn’t know what was up or down... all I knew was that I was... lost. "I need my voices."
"Ah, mon ange," purred Voice One, and I forced myself to stay quiet, just in case the voice decided to go away again. "We are here, mon ange; we never left you."
"You did," I hissed, burrowing further under the covers. "You left me just like everyone else did. What? Did you find someone better? Someone not as broken?"
"Little bit," grunted Voice Two. He sounded harsher than normal, but I still recognized his voice. "You are not broken. And even if you are, your brokenness fits perfectly with ours. There is no way we are ever going to leave you. All we need you to do is open your eyes and see what is in front of you for yourself."
"No," I replied, shaking my head. "I’m blind; I can’t open my eyes and see for myself. If you really were the voices, then you would know that. You aren’t my voices; you aren’t my demons! GIVE ME BACK MY DEMONS!"
There was a long period of silence before I could hear something crinkling in front of me. "Open your mouth, Hattie," grunted the first voice. Biting my lower lip, I refused to do anything that I was told to do. That was until the smell of a banana lollypop drifted toward me.
"I promised you unlimited lollypops, didn’t I?" continued the voice. While it sounded harsh, I could hear the pleading under it. "You don’t have to open your eyes, just open your mouth, and it’s all yours."
"Daddy?" I breathed out the moment the lollypop touched my tongue.
"There’s my girl," grunted the man in front of me, and ever so slowly, I opened my eyes to look at him. "Such beautiful eyes."
"Real or fake?" I asked around the sucker in my mouth.
"Real," he assured me. "We are oh so very real, Princess. Now, be a sweetheart and tell me who I have to kill to make you happy? I know there’s a list, so we might as well knock all the names off at once, right?"
I laughed softly as I opened both eyes and stared at the men in front of me. Right. They were my men, my demons. I was safe.
Right?
Taking in a deep breath, I sat up in bed, wrapping the blanket around me.
"You scared us, Cher," grunted Ronan from where he was sitting beside the bed. He was on the floor with his back to the mattress, and his head was tilted back to look at me. "I donna like it."
"I scared myself," I assured him. Snapping my fingers, I felt my dress appearing on my body. It wasn’t pants and a shirt like Jonas’ uniform, and it wasn’t the leather pants like I was wearing at the beginning of my time in Camp Hell. It was MY dress. A frilly, black and white Lolita dress that made me feel like I was in control.
"You never answered me, Princess," grunted Chang Xuefeng from where he was kneeling in front of me. "Who do we have to kill?"
"I don’t know," I admitted with a shrug of my shoulders. Pulling up my hair, I twisted it into a bun and put a spiked collar around my neck. "I was in a cage... somewhere. But it wasn’t Camp Hell. We were inside, not outside. And the guy across from me.."
My voice drifted off as I shook my head. "You weren’t there. None of you were there. I was alone, and he was... touching me with a hand that wasn’t a hand."
"Angel," growled Dante from where he stood over Daddy’s shoulder. "My soul is connected to yours. There is no place that you can go where I cannot find you. Even when you are in a different realm, I can still feel you and track you down. If I am not there, then it isn’t real."
"How can you be so sure?" I asked, cocking my head to the side as I continued to suck on the lollypop. It was hard to talk around it, but it was keeping me connected to this reality, and this was where I wanted to be.
"Simple," shrugged Dante, a dark grin on his face. "I am the First Sin of Pride. Do you really think there is anyone better, stronger, or more dedicated to you than me?"
