Chapter 224: The Truth Amongst The Lies

Chapter 224: The Truth Amongst The Lies

I gently rested my head on the other side of the door as I listened to the guys talking outside. I knew there was no way I was going back to sleep, and I didn’t see the harm in listening in to their conversation...

But that plot twist? Not even I saw that coming.

"So," I murmured softly. "I am the original Devil, and Luci was trying to play dress-up."

If I looked back on our conversation, the things that didn’t quite make sense started to become clearer. Like the fact that she seemed to hate me. I was right to think that she was jealous because she was. I was the person she had been pretending to be for over 10,000 years.

And after all that time, she probably got too comfortable so that when I showed up, she had no idea what to do.

But the woman in my head seemed to have been different... she didn’t seem to hate me or was jealous of me. In fact, more often than not, she seemed proud of me.

The Father of Lies...

Well, now I was just pissed.

Whether Luci was who she said she was or if she was living a life in my shadow instead of the other way around, it didn’t matter. She was dead, her heart was eaten, and Hell was gone.

But if the guys were right and I had lived all that time, I almost wish that I had memories of it. Just to know the truth...

"Is the truth really that important?" asked a woman’s voice that I hadn’t heard in a long time. Not since I met Luci the first time...

"It feels like it should be," I admitted, pushing off the door and walking up the stairs to my room.

"Is that your brain telling you something or your heart?" chuckled the woman. "Because just because something is important to someone else doesn’t need to make it important to you."

"My head hurts too much for riddles right now," I yawned as I crawled into bed. "Can’t you just tell me one way or another if I should care about the truth or not?"

"Will the truth change how you feel about the Sins?" asked the voice softly. "Will it change that draw you felt to them the first time you heard their voices or saw them?"

"No," I admitted, staring at my ceiling. "But I feel like it should."

"There you go again, ’feel’, you are too much in your head and not enough in your heart."

"It feels safer to be in my head than my heart," I admitted softly. "My head keeps me from getting hurt."

"But your head is also the one who keeps you from loving and accepting love in return."

"Well, look at you, making all sorts of sense," I sneered lightly, but I wasn’t actually angry.

Truthfully, when I heard that the Sins were supposed to belong to someone else, it broke something inside of me. I didn’t like things that didn’t belong to me... and maybe I had a bit of greed inside me because, at that moment, I was willing to write them all off. I was going to rip out their crystal shards, kill them, and piece together my soul all by myself.

If they were originally supposed to be Luci’s, then they could fuck off away from me.

"But if they were originally supposed to be yours, and Luci tried to interfere?" chuckled the voice. "Then what would you have done?"

"Ripped out Luci’s heart and gave it to Tink for a snack," I snarled, my voice echoing around my bedroom. Here, in the dark without Tank or the others, this room was much too big.

"And there you have it. What you should or should not want, what you should or should not desire, doesn’t matter. You know what is important, so don’t let anyone tell you otherwise."

"I’m glad you’re back," I sighed as the voice inside my head chuckled.

"I never left," replied the woman. "But being in Luci’s circle made me too weak; that was why I couldn’t come back sooner. I’m sorry."

"Don’t be," I smiled. "You are here now, and that is all that matters."

"So, what are your plans for the guys? Are you going to forgive them or make them pay?"

I chuckled low as I pulled out Teddy from my space and rolled over. "I told them before, either on their knees or their backs. The choice is theirs."

"You aren’t going to forgive them for something that isn’t even their fault?"

Closing my eyes, a vision appeared in my head of the Sins on their knees in front of me while Tank and Chang Xuefeng stood back and watched. "Who said that?" I asked. "There is more than one reason for them to be on their knees... or their backs. I am really not that picky."

With the vision of them stroking me, licking me, worshiping me firmly etched in my brain, I let myself fall asleep. Yeah, I knew what I wanted and what I was going to do.

But there was nothing saying that I couldn’t have fun at the same time.

----

"So, what are we going to do now?" asked Envy as he looked around at his brothers. "I mean, I’m not going to back down. Hattie is mine, no matter what anyone says."

Tank snorted as Chang Xuefeng rolled his eyes. "Yeah," muttered the Grim Reaper. "I am pretty sure that we all feel that way."

Before Envy and the Reaper could start something, Greed held up his hand. "We have all agreed that we are sharing, right?" he asked, his gaze completely centered on Lust. "Because we are not approaching Hattie until we are all on the same page."

Lust narrowed his eyes before releasing a long sigh. "Fine. We all share; as long as you admit that I am the favorite, then life will be fine."

"I hate to break it to you, Lust, but none of us are in the top two spots," sneered Gluttony as he stared at Tank and Chang Xuefeng. "Isn’t that right?"

"What can I say?" purred the Reaper, the smile on his face almost enchanting. "Hattie loves her Daddy... I can’t disappoint her, now can I?"

This time, it was Pride who held up his hand to stop the fight. "You heard what she said, knees or back. Which one are we choosing?"
