Chapter 212: What’s His Problem?

Chapter 212: What’s His Problem?

Beau, sweaty, with more than a few new cuts on his face and hands, collapsed onto the road as he narrowed his eyes at Chang Xuefeng.

"You could have helped, you know that... right?" he sneered at the Angle of Death; however, the other man wasn’t intimidated at all.

He stood under an oak tree, its branches twisting around him like he was nothing more than a statue in its embrace.

"Why would I bother?" asked the angel as he smirked at Beau. "From where I was standing, you three seemed to have had it well in hand."

"What are you?" demanded the leader from where he was on all fours in front of Dante.

"I guess that depends on the day and who is in charge," chuckled Dante as he crouched down, studying the man who was more than human. "But I think the better question is just what are you? There is no way you should be alive after all that."

The man spat out a mouthful of blood but didn’t answer right away. "I’m Reaper, the Prez of The Devil’s Hounds MC."

There was silence for a moment before Beau burst out laughing. Even Dante and Tank were having a hard time keeping the smile off their faces while Chang Xuefeng was outright glaring at the man.

"No," stated the Grim Reaper with a shake of his head. "Pick another name. That doesn’t work for me."

"Excuse me?" growled one of the other men getting to his feet. "You don’t get a fucking say in the matter."

Beau wrinkled his nose but wisely kept his mouth shut. Today was not a day to be a glutton for punishment seeing as Chang Xuefeng seemed more than a little cranky.

Dante held up his hand, his head still cocked to the side. They were still wearing their cuts, but he couldn’t see their bikes anywhere. "Where are your rides?" he asked. It was easy to say that they were an MC, but it was also easy to take a cut off of a dead body.

Silence met his question before a single bike appeared in front of him. It was clearly a custom-made bike with a canine’s mouth on the gas tank. The teeth were flashing as blood and flesh were painted in great detail.

As quickly as it appeared, it disappeared again.

"Does that answer your question? Besides, gas is hard to find in this day and age," sneered the man.

Dante and Tank shared a look before Tank stepped forward. "Where are you headed?"

"Don’t know," replied Reaper as he stood up. Cracking his neck from side to side, he stared down Dante. "Let me guess... mafia? You guys all smell the same."

"Which is surprising that you can smell anything over your own stench," chuckled Beau as he came to his feet. "When was the last time you took a shower?"

"If you answer the question, you might live," stated Dante, ignoring the posing. It always happened when two Families met, not to mention when dealing with the gangs and the drug runners. Everyone thought they were the biggest fish in the pond when they were nothing more than the frog in the well.

"I don’t agree," snarled Chang Xuefeng as he strolled toward Dante. "Whether they tell you or not, they need to die just because of the names alone."

Once again, Reaper couldn’t figure out why the only one not involved in the fight had such an issue with their names. He had been Reaper since he got his cut 20 years ago. He was the only Reaper in this area... no one would accept someone else having the same nickname as another.

"Why?" smirked Tank, cocking his head to the side as he studied all 23 men. "If they are going to claim that name, then they need to accept what it means. Tell me, Reaper... why are you called the Devil’s Hounds?"

"Because we are the messengers of Hell," called out one of the men at the back as the rest raised their fists in a cheer.

Reaper raised an eyebrow as if silently challenging Tank.

"I say we bring them to Hattie and let her be the judge," announced Tank as if he was simply suggesting that they bring Hattie home a new flavor of ice cream.

"The fuck we are!" snarled Chang Xuefeng. "We just got rid of a bunch of fuckers... why are we bringing more back?!?"

"Because we need people to guard the gates," answered Dante, his face completely impassive as he studied Reaper. "And if they don’t work out, we can feed them to your puppy and Tink, and everything will be fine."

"Is that a threat?" sneered the second man.

"Mad Dog," snapped Reaper. "Stand down."

"I agree with him," shrugged a third man as he walked up to stand beside Reaper. Nodding his head, he introduced himself. "I am Shadow."

"Of course you fucking are," sneered Chang Xuefeng. "I can’t believe you are okay with this."

"It’s just the five of us," reminded Dante. "And Hattie doesn’t spend too much time in any one spot before she gets bored. It would be best if we had someone at the Lair to look after things."

"Fine," replied Chang Xuefeng, looking up at the sky. "But when this comes to bite us in the ass, and it will. I’m blaming your three."

"Hey!" sputtered Beau. "I don’t have anything to do with this!"

"You didn’t argue, that means you are for," snapped Chang Xuefeng. "And you!" he snarled, turning to Reaper. "If you are going to fucking use MY name to YOUR credit, you fucking well better be able to back it up."

Spinning around, Chang Xuefeng stormed off back toward the Dragon’s Lair and his sweet Wish Girl. It was a good thing he was sticking around. Someone had to have her best interests at heart, and he didn’t trust any of the others as far as he could throw them.

"What’s his problem?" asked Reaper as Dante motioned for the MCs to follow Chang Xuefeng.

"He is the Grim Reaper," answered Beau with a bright smile on his face. "As in the actual Angel of Death. So technically, you are named after him... isn’t that cute?"
