Chapter 201: Learn Something New Every Day
As soon as the door shut behind Sophie, Dante turned his attention back to Bishop. "I have to admit, I didn’t see this coming," he sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. "I’m disappointed in you."
Bishop scoffed at his statement as he slouched a bit more in the chair. "Who are you? My father? You are disappointed in me? Fuck you. You know what? I’m disappointed in you! How could you let something so unclean take over your body? It’s like you have completely changed overnight without warning. Not to mention Hattie. Have you fucked her yet? Is that why you are so interested in her? The first pussy you get in years; I guess it is understandable that you are so obsessed with it."
Dante was left reeling at Bishop’s rant to the point where both men failed to hear the door opening and shutting again. While the two of them stared at each other, neither man willing to back down first, Tank pressed a gun to Bishop’s temple.
"See, from where I stand, you are the one who changed overnight," hummed Tank as he looked down at the man. Dante’s guardians, while never best friends, had always maintained a certain level of closeness. And yet, this is the third one to piss him off to the point where he wants to do nothing but kill one of the men he once considered a brother.
"Did he ever spend some time with Hattie?" asked Chang Xuefeng as he walked over to a couch.
"He used to make her food," replied Tank, turning his attention away from his prey and toward the angel. "You know what happened to him?"
Chang Xuefeng hummed and nodded his head. "Given Hattie’s nature, angels will either do one of two things... Fall or Rise."
"Hattie’s nature?" mused Dante, his eyes going pitch black as Pride pushed forward. "And what do you know about her nature?"
"Hattie is the reincarnation of your creator, Pride," explained Chang Xuefeng with a bright smile on his face. "And since she carries the soul of the Devil inside her, an angel will either fall into damnation or rise above it all. Want to guess what your good friend did?"
"Are you saying that Bishop is an angel?" demanded Tank, more than a little confused. "He doesn’t smell like you."
"He wouldn’t," shrugged Chang Xuefeng. "Not an angel, remember? Gentlemen, might I introduce you to Castiel? One of the archangels..."
"And who are you?" sneered Bishop as he ignored the gun in Tank’s hand as he turned to the outsider. "Another demon?"
"Angel of Death," replied Chang Xuefeng. "Or the Grim Reaper, if you prefer that. I’m not picky about what people call me."
The stunned look on Bishop’s face was enough to make Pride chuckle as he threw Dante back into their mind. This meeting was no longer about dominance and mafia; it was about angels and demons... so the humans needed to shut up.
"I have to admit, I didn’t think I would ever see Castiel Fall," chuckled Pride as he looked over at Gluttony. "Did you see it coming?"
"Well, I find everyone has the bad tendency of trying to bite off more than they can chew. And when there is a sweet human added to the mix? I wonder how many halflings he’ll produce before one of the others is sent down to kill him."
It was a well-known fact that angels couldn’t stand half-breeds to the point where they would kill them almost as soon as they were born. They claimed that it was because it would upset the balance of the universe, but the theory in Hell was that they would be so strong that the angels wouldn’t be able to control them.
Demons, on the other hand... had more than a few half-breeds scattered around the earth realm, and no one really mattered that they were stronger than a purebred.
The Pride caste especially went out to sire more and more half-breeds simply because of how exceptional they were.
"I might have Fallen," sneered Castiel, coming to his feet. "But that only means that the kid gloves are off when it comes to killing you demons. I no longer have to worry about the human meat sacks."
"You can try," replied Pride as he laced his fingers together and leaned forward. "But then what will happen to the woman who looked at you like you hung the stars in the sky? And didn’t someone mention a child? Dante seems to remember Tank saving a child, too. You know, when he was a demon."
"You will not touch Libby or Sophia," snarled Castiel as he jumped to his feet. Pressing his hands together, he conjured a ball of lightning, one of the top tiers of powers. "I will end the entire planet just to make sure that they are safe."
"Well, that sounds counterproductive," sighed a female voice as Hattie appeared sitting on Dante’s desk. "After all, if you end the entire planet, where are they going to live? Technically, you would be killing them AND yourself, too. Huh, let’s try it. It would be fun to see who is still standing at the end of the day, don’t you think?"
"You’re back," sighed Chang Xuefeng as he felt his entire body relaxing. "Are you hurt?"
"No, Daddy," Hattie replied, her eyes never leaving Castiel’s. "But I think I had a mindfuck thanks to an envy demon. For some reason, I remember it being day, and then I slept for the night, and then I woke up, and it was the same day."
There was the cutest frown on Hattie’s face as she tried to figure things out. The poor girl sucked at keeping track of time and the days, so to her, this really would be a complete mindfuck.
"It was just an illusion," chuckled Pride as he came to his feet. He wouldn’t be sitting when his woman was in the room unless she allowed him to. Offering his chair, he shrugged his shoulders when Hattie shook her head. "Demons can warp time to make things feel either longer or shorter than they actually are."
"Huh," grunted Hattie, a slight smirk on her face. "You learn something new every day, don’t you, Bishop?"
