Chapter 168: You Would Be The First
Chang Xuefeng cocked his head to the side as he stared at Pride’s meat sack.
It wasn’t that bad of a choice for that particular Sin, and it was easy to see why the demon liked it so much. Still, he wasn’t above punching a demon in the face just to see him bleed.
"The humans have this wonderful phrase," chuckled Chang Xuefeng, trying to remain composed while at the same time struggling with all the souls in his possession. He wasn’t supposed to store them inside of himself, and now he had taken so many that he felt nauseous as they continued to bang around inside of him. "Fuck around and find out."
"Oh?" purred Pride. "Surely you know that if I am here, so are my brothers. Seven against one seems like perfect odds to me."
"Eight," snarled a voice behind Chang Xuefeng, causing the reaper to spin around. He never even heard the other man approach, and that was next to impossible. No one could sneak up on a reaper... no one.
"I’m on their side," continued the man as he made a wide circle around Chang Xuefeng and went to stand beside Pride. Sniffing the air, he gave a pointed look at Pride but didn’t say anything.
"A hound?!?" asked the Angel of Death, trying to reign in what his natural reaction was. Hounds were notorious, even amongst the angels. They were known to rip anyone apart who even had thoughts of harming their master.
In fact, they were so feral that they were almost wiped completely out of existence at one point in time. Hell, he thought they were ALL gone during the purge.
But that couldn’t be the case if there was one in front of him now.
Stiffening, Chang Xuefeng braced himself for a fight. If the Hellhound was determined to protect Pride, no matter what, then he needed to be ready for anything.
The man cocked his head to the side and sniffed again before stiffening. "You smell like the little Lamb," he said, his voice coming out in a low growl as his eyes turned a startling orange color. "Why do you smell like my little Lamb?"
The Hound started stalking toward Chang Xuefeng, pulling in a deep, lungful of air with every movement he made until he was practically breathing down the angel’s neck. Chang Xuefeng refused to flinch as the other man had to go up on his toes to get to the same part that Hattie seemed to love so much.
"I don’t like you."
The decision was made, and the Hound backed off, only to continue to glare at the Angel of Death. "But she seems to. You can live for now until she tells me otherwise."
Letting out a low growl of anger, the man shook himself like a wet dog, and the orange eyes disappeared.
"Well," grumbled Pride. "While I knew what happened, I can’t say that I expected that."
"You knew there was a Hound on Earth?!?" demanded Chang Xuefeng, spinning around so that his focus was back on Pride. "And you did nothing?"
"I didn’t expect it to be that on," sighed Pride, rubbing the bridge of Dante’s nose. Did all meat sacks get a headache like that, or had he simply chosen a defective one? Either way, the pain was starting to make him irritable. "I thought it might be one of the puppies or one of the lap dogs we find in the Throne room every so often. Not him."
The Angel of Death and the Deadly Sin of Pride shared a look of misery with each other before remembering that they were enemies.
"There are puppies?" demanded Chang Xuefeng as the rain and the storm continued to beat down on the three men. However, that was secondary to him learning that there were still Hellhounds out in Hell and that there were enough that they were having fucking puppies!
"They are," sighed Pride. "But they are cute and harmless for the first hundred years or so. That one, Ramsey," continued the Sin, pointing his thumb toward the man beside him. "Took on three legions of demons by himself and returned without a scratch. There are Hellhounds that you know about, Angel. And then there is Ramsey."
Both the angel and the demon looked at the man who hadn’t said a peep since Ramsey retreated back into his host.
"Fucking Hell," sighed Chang Xuefeng, shaking his head as he tried to process everything. Finally, he just gave up. "Why are you both here... especially if you are just realizing who that one is now?" he asked, tilting his head to the Hound as he looked at Pride.
"Isn’t it obvious?" asked the man, cocking his head to the side. "SHE is on the other side."

Beau sat up and let out a low groan as his spin started to snap in places it had no business snapping. Unfortunately for him, that wasn’t even the worst couch he had slept on in the past year.
In fact, it was almost cozy.
’We have to find our woman,’ growled the voice inside Beau’s head as he stretched his neck out slowly so as not to antagonize the muscles anymore. The last thing he wanted or needed was a kink in his neck.
’Right behind that door,’ replied Beau silently. Honestly, the voice had surprised him when it spoke just now. He had thought the whole conversation had been nothing more than a dream, but apparently, he was now playing host to a demon.
Meh, it could be worse.
Getting off the couch, Beau walked on silent feet toward the small door with the woman he was becoming obsessed over. Ever so quietly, he opened the door and saw her sleeping soundly on her tiny bed, her hands curled under her cheek as she breathed deeply.
"Do you enjoy watching someone sleep, doctor? It seems like a bad hobby to have," she said, her eyes still closed.
"You would be the first," chuckled Beau as he let himself into Lucinda’s room.
"I better be the only," came her reply.
