Chapter 161: This Time Around

Pride flung himself down on his throne, flinching slightly as the four gouges on his back hit the chair. "Fucking Hell," he groaned as he felt his body healing itself from the inside out. The only problem was that that particular demon had poison in its talons and teeth, and it wasn’t fucking around.

It was weird; he had been close to a final death so many times due to overusing his powers, and yet, every time he thought it was the end, a new burst of energy slammed into him. He had a good idea who had given him that top-up, but there was no way she was able to get that many wishes in that short amount of time.

"The place or the expression?" sighed Greed as he slowly entered the throne room, his left leg dragging behind him uselessly. "’Cause I agree with both statements. No wonder the Devil doesn’t want to deal with this shit."

Gluttony scoffed at his statement as he, too, limped inside the room and gingerly sat down on his throne. One of the Night Mares had taken a chunk out of his ass, and it was taking a bloody long time to heal. "All that prick had to do was snap his fingers, and everything would be right as rain. That’s why he is the big guy in charge."

Lust strolled in casually, snickering under his breath as he enjoyed the pain and misery of his brothers. "And that is why you need a power that turns people on each other. I don’t have so much as a bruise."

"And no one had to see the fucking orgy that you incited," shuddered Envy as he cracked his neck from side to side. "I never want to see that much dick again, thank you very much."

"I never knew you were such a prude," replied Lust, looking over his shoulder at the other demon.

"Fucking in the middle of a war was just..." sighed Envy, not sure how he could really explain or get over the fact that two thousand demons raced toward them, only to drop their weapons one second and their clothes the next.

At least he wasn’t the only one scared for life at the end of that battle. He was pretty sure that some of those demons were going to need a massive amount of therapy before they even thought about going against Lust.

"Any idea what is going on on Earth?" sighed Pride, closing his eyes as he pushed past the pain he was in. They really could have used Wrath that time or any time it involved going against tens of thousands of demons. That brother could just snap his fingers and turn them against each other.

So much simpler.

"No," sighed Greed as he waved his hand toward one of the mirrors. "But it’s been less than 14 days, so I am going to assume not much."

Once again, Lust sneered at his brother as he sat on his throne. "Oh, brother dearest, don’t you remember that time here works differently than time there? A week here is easily a month and a half on Earth. It’s been three months since we last saw our girl."

While Lust was good at hiding his desires, the rest of the brothers couldn’t help but panic. "Fucking Hell," growled Pride again as he forced himself to stand up and look into the mirror that was always focused on Hattie. "We’ve never been away from her that long."

"We’ve never had to quell that big of an uprising. Here, we thought that the Gatekeeper was the mastermind. Who knew he was nothing more than a tool?" grunted Gluttony. "But everything is going to be just fine. I know it, you know it. There is no situation that Hattie can get into that she can’t get out."

"Are you sure about that?" demanded Pride, turning around to look at his brother. "Because that looks to be her mother on the floor and a fucking new guy looking at her like she is the tastiest snack in the world."

Gluttony’s eyes widened as he joined Pride and Greed at the mirror. The rest of the Sins wouldn’t be able to see what was going on, but they could move their asses. "Fuck me," he whispered, watching the human in front of his woman. "That isn’t a look a doctor should have."

"Find our meat sacks," snarled Greed as he spun away from Hattie’s mirror and to one of the ones beside it. "When we recover from this setback, we’ll take the bodies and get the fuck out of here. The Devil doesn’t give a shit, and Little Bit needs us more."

"What about the contract?" sighed Envy as he walked over to the mirror that was a direct link to Salvatore. "Can we just up and leave just like that?"

"At this point in time? It will take the Devil, all the Hellhounds, and at least three herds of Night Mares to drag me away from her," snapped Greed, reaching out to Luca to see what the fuck was going on.

It looked like Hattie was back where she was supposed to be, which meant that she was not only healed but that the meat sacks should be on her like peanut butter on toast. They can’t fucking protect her if they aren’t there.

"That’s not good," interjected Gluttony, a dazed and confused look on his face. "I think I did something wrong?"

"I know you did," chuckled Lust. "But why do you think that?"

"My meat sack is back with Pride’s old one," grumbled Gluttony. "And I can’t get into his head at all."

Pride narrowed his eyes as he walked over to Gluttony. "It’s the bitch," he said at last. "She is... blocking us?"

Gluttony glanced briefly at Pride before he turned his attention back to the mirror. "Well," he purred, his eyes narrowing on the meat sack. "Clearly, I was much too lenient. I think it is time for me to remind him why it was so important to listen to me in the first place."

"You have a plan?" asked Envy, clasping Gluttony on the shoulder. "You know I’ll help in whatever way I can."

"I have a plan," assured the other Sins, his movements stiff as he studied the moving image in front of him. "But first, I need a new body. And I don’t think I am going to be nearly so nice this time around."
