Chapter 137: Me And My Brothers
Chang Xuefeng watched as the "human" led his charge out of the room, a hand on the small of her back. He was contemplating ripping the offending appendage off, but he would have to come up with a better excuse than ’he touched you’. Especially since that ’human’ was his brother.
At least Chang Xuefeng knew that his brother would protect Hattie. That gave him some peace of mind...
But only some. The way his brother stared at her was a completely separate matter and one that he would have to nip in the bud quickly.
Once the door was firmly closed, he rolled his shoulders back and cracked his neck from side to side to loosen up the tense muscles. With a snap of his fingers, a chair appeared in the room, right across from the one that Liu Haoyu was sitting in.
Settling himself in a chair that he hadn’t sat in in age, Chang Xuefeng smiled at the old man. "Aren’t you tired?" he asked, cocking his head to the side. "Because even if you aren’t, I am."
"I haven’t found a new body," shrugged Liu Haoyu like it wasn’t that big of a deal. "My grandson was supposed to be my newest meat sack, but then he up and left."
"You poor demon," chuckled Chang Xuefeng, his back straight as he started drumming his fingers on the armrest of his chair. It was a pure white, wingback chair with wooden feet, but while it was one of his favorite ones, it would only fit his current body. "Should I offer condolences?"
"Probably," chuckled Lui Haoyu. "I don’t know how he managed to do it, but the human I claimed as my idiot son managed to sire the meat sacks for both Death and Disease. I have no idea how that happened, but here we are."
"A body so close to death and nowhere to go from here," smirked Chang Xuefeng. "You are really in a humdinger of a pickle, now aren’t you, Wrath?"
Wrath chuckled as he looked out of Lui Haoyu’s eyes at the male in front of him. "When this meat sack dies, I’ll find another one. The entrance to Hell is closed since the Devil decided to go on vacation."
Chang Xuefeng hummed as he nodded his head. "This country seems a bit too small to hold two of four Horsemen and an Angel of Death. Maybe I should move on to greener pastures... I mean, I promised to follow Hattie to the ends of the world; it wouldn’t be that hard... it might even be pleasurable."
The smile on Wrath’s face dropped as he stared at the Reaver. "I can promise you, Azrael, if you so much as lay a finger on my Little Raven, I will take great pleasure in skinning you alive. And unlike me, you aren’t wearing a meat sack, now are you?"
Azrael couldn’t help but smile as he let the Reaver façade drop from his face, showing off his true heritage. "You are an old man," he purred. "And one that she didn’t seem to recognize. Who do you think she’ll listen to?"
"Do you know who she is?" demanded Wrath, struggling to his feet. His legs wobbled as he tried to step forward without his cane. Fucking meat sacks... getting old after only 80 years. And now his backup had fucked off; he really needed to find the other one he had been speaking to. He might be his only hope now.
Azrael only smiled, his eyes narrowing on Wrath’s shaking body. He had no idea who Wish Girl was... other than his. The rest of it could be figured out in time, and he had plenty of it. "Time’s ticking for you, old man. And we all know that there is a process in order for you to get a new body."
"You seem to have mistaken me for my brothers," shrugged Wrath, lowering himself back onto his chair. "I made a deal with the Devil. I can take any meat sack that I want... whether my brothers are there or not."
However, Wrath bit his tongue. He had finally found her. After centuries of hopping from meat sack to meat sack, he had finally found his One. And yet... his body was dying, and she had no idea who he was.
What was the point in getting a meat sack in Country M when his Little Raven was in Country K? The more Wrath thought about it, the more he realized that he needed a new body here in this country, not halfway around the world.
Maybe that Xian Wuying would do...
"I would get that look off your face fast, demon," sneered Azrael, a scythe appearing in his hand. Pointing the bladed end at Wrath, his eyes bore into him. "He might not know who you are, but my brother is not someone you can covet."
"Fucking hell," sneered Wrath with a wave of his hand. "First Hades and the Four Horsemen, now two fucking angels... The world really has gone to shit, hasn’t it?"
"All four Horsemen?" asked Azrael, confused. "I thought you said that your son only sired two."
Wrath snorted at that statement. "He did... that doesn’t mean that two other women didn’t give birth to the other two. Trust me, we have all four of them riding here in Country K."
"And they don’t know who you are?" Azrael was surprised at that. Usually, divine beings had no problem identifying each other... then again, the demon had no idea he was housing an angel.
"Not a clue," sneered Wrath, his old, wrinkly face morphing into a satisfied smile. "But I would expect nothing less from them. It took forever for them to even remember being the Horsemen."
Azrael leaned back in his chair, studying the demon in front of him. "Do you know what is going on?"
"What else?" shrugged Wrath, copying the angel’s movements. "The Gods are bored... and we are the ones to suffer."
"So Country K belongs to Hades?"
"Not yet, not that she realizes, at least. She is still running after my grandsons and their friends, unable to deny the bond, but no idea why."
"So, it’s an arms race, then I take it?" murmured Azrael under his breath. "That’s fine. I’ll carve out my own country if needed for Hattie." Coming to his feet, he missed the soft chuckle coming from Wrath.
"She doesn’t need you to carve out a country for her... she has me and my brothers for that."
