Chapter 111: That Makes Two Of Us

Chapter 111: That Makes Two Of Us

I felt his teeth piercing my skin right where my neck met my shoulder.

The pain was next to nothing, not even a blip on a meter that had always been skewed.

As soon as his teeth entered my flesh, he pulled back quickly, not wanting to take too long or remove more flesh than necessary.

"The debt had been paid," muttered the woman’s voice in my head. "He is now human with no memories. Kill him fast before he starts freaking out."

Gripping my hand in the sand, I found one of the blades the Alpha had stashed away. Spinning quickly, I sliced through Silent But Deadly’s neck, cutting through the arteries and tendons like butter.

His eyes widened in surprise as I twisted out from under him, the knife still deeply embedded in his muscles. Continuing the path I had made, I slit the back of his neck, making sure to remove the knife for a second before embedding it deep into his spinal cord.

As soon as the tip of the knife severed the vertebra, Silent But Deadly’s head fell to the sand, blood pooling out of it. It took a few extra seconds for the rest of his body to realize that he had been killed, but it, too, quickly collapsed beside the head.

Once again, the coliseum was quiet as I swayed where I stood.

My first kill made me realize that I had to make my own decisions. My second kill made me realize that I would do whatever was needed to survive in this new world. And my third kill reminded me that I still had a heart.

No matter how much I tried to deny it.

"The Harbinger... won," announced the MC, his voice unsure and confused as if he couldn’t believe his eyes. "Silent But Deadly has been... killed."

Feng Niu rushed into the pit before anyone had come to their scences, hurrying me away before I could get my ’reward’ for winning.

That was fine. I wasn’t really in the mood to celebrate.

"How?" started my guard, gripping my elbow as tight as he could as he weaved me around the tunnels and out of the pit area. As soon as the guard at the entrance gate saw him, he quickly opened the door, letting us slip in. "How did you kill a reaver? They are supposed to be impossible to kill."

"I found a knife in the sands," I replied, smiling at the reaver beside me, who now looked a bit paler than he had a few minutes ago. That’s right, bub, I can kill reavers—scared now?

"That’s it? You found a knife in the sand and managed to decapitate a reaver?" demanded Feng Niu, pushing me into an empty cage. It was a lot bigger than the one I was in in the women’s section, so I wasn’t about to complain.

But Feng Niu was really going to have to work hard to get the ’nice reaver’ vibe going again.

"Yup!" I smiled at him. "Well, he got a few punches in as well." Pointing to my bruised and bleeding face as a testament to the fight, I bit back the urge to ask him if he wanted to see if I could kill a reaver again.

His time would come. I had no doubt about that.

With a huff, Feng Niu slammed the door shut behind him, making sure to lock me in my shiny new cage. "I’ll send the Healer over to patch you up."

Nodding my head, I waved my hand over my head to show that I had heard him. However, I was more interested in lying down in bed and licking my wounds privately.

----

"188," growled a new voice, completely different from Feng Niu. "Lay flat, spread your legs."

Snorting in amusement, I leaned forward, my elbows behind me supporting my weight as I opened one sleep-filled eye. "You’ll need to buy me dinner at the very least, connard," I sneered at him before lying back down on the cot.

It wasn’t the most comfortable thing I had ever slept in... that was Tank’s bed...but it also wasn’t metal bars covered in dirt. I was going to take advantage of the bed and get a good night’s sleep before this shitshow restarted tomorrow.

Instead of replying, the new guard, much bigger and meaner than Feng Niu could even dream of being, marched into my cell with a bundle of rope in one hand.

"Spread your legs, or I will spread them for you," he snarled at me, clearly not liking the fact that he had to repeat himself. He held up the cord of rope as if I should already know what it was for.

"Cut off your head, or I’ll cut it off for you," I snarled back at him, slowly getting out of bed. "And it won’t matter to me which head gets cut off."

"In order for the Healer to enter your cage, your legs need to be tied to be cot," sighed Rip, coming in behind the behemoth. "It’s for her safety. Too many fighters have tried to kill her in the past."

Nodding my head, I went to lie down on the bed, my legs spread apart only as far as the legs of the cot. "See what happens when you use your words?" I sneered at the reaver as he started tying my ankles to the bed.

"Whose to say you even understand human words?" replied the reaver, not bothering to look at me. "Besides, I considered Silent a friend. If I could get away with fucking you up, I would."

"Huh," I muttered under my breath as I stared at the man. "I guess that makes two of us."

"What do you mean?" replied the behemoth right before Rip let out a snort of impatience.

"You two can talk later. The Healer is here, and you aren’t going to delay her at all."

It was no wonder why so many people thought Wang Tian Mu was a pampered Princess. She might be in the same conditions as the rest of us, but she had someone in her corner who would cheerfully commit murder if it meant making her smile.

"Can’t have that, now can we?" I nodded with a smile. "Bound but not gaged, and ready, willing, and able to see the Healer now, thank you very much."
