Chapter 110: Vanished

Chapter 110: Vanished

Tyson sat on the bench, his heart still pounding as he replayed the plan in his mind, trying to convince himself that everything was in place.

Well, almost everything—if he ignored the fact that he was already making Nancy wait, which definitely wasn’t part of the plan.

"Will she say yes?" he muttered under his breath.

His meta-bot blinked once in response. Tyson gave a small smile, taking it as reassurance.

"Thanks for the prep."

He took a deep breath and stood up. The café was just a few yards away, gleaming in the evening lights. He was late—maybe super late—but it couldn’t be helped. He was scared.

As he stood at the crosswalk, the light was still green for cars. Pedestrians waited on both sides.

Then he saw her.

Nancy.

Wearing her favorite outfit—the one she once said she only wore for special occasions. Did she know? Or was it just a beautiful coincidence?

Tyson’s heart fluttered.

He didn’t realize a storm was brewing behind him. A killer had him in his sight.

----

Meanwhile, at the Ranger HQ...

Edward sat behind his desk, scrolling through reports, when Captain Sam entered the room, his face grim.

"Sir, we found something... dreadful," Sam said. "In the alley behind Rysom Plaza."

Edward looked up. "What is it?"

Sam stepped forward, projecting two images onto the AI screen. "Derius Laster and Kevin Darns," he said. "New recruits. They were involved in Nancy’s recent kidnapping attempt—and were forcibly inducted into the Rangers as punishment."

Edward stood, serious now. "You’re telling me someone murdered Rangers?"

"Yes, sir. One of our patrol officers found the bodies. I have two suspects—but don’t get offended."

"Tyson isn’t responsible," Edward cut him off. "He’s proposing to Nancy tonight."

Sam blinked. "Is he? Damn. Can’t wait for another Rogers wedding."

Edward allowed himself a small chuckle before refocusing. "And the second suspect?"

Sam glanced around as if the walls had ears. "Ryuk. He shows up in town, and minutes later two Rangers end up dead. He supports Victor’s family, is close with Steve, and let’s face it—he’s unpredictable."

"But he was obedient when he came to meet me," Edward said thoughtfully. "Barely spoke, nodded at everything I said. Would he really...?"

"Sir, quiet types are the killers," Sam pressed. "Kick him out, please. I haven’t slept since he showed up. He’s a time bomb. Let him explode outside the city, not in front of us"

"Selfish," Edward muttered, though the situation was clearly serious. Still, a flicker of happiness crossed his face at the thought of his son finally settling down. "Find Ryuk and bring him to me. We had surveillance on him, right?"

"Yes, sir. Barnes assigned the team—"

Just then, Barnes burst into the room, huffing.

"Sir, that evil General has started fighting a rogue—publicly!"

Sam and Barnes exchanged knowing looks, like they’d finally found their excuse. They didn’t want two generals in the city. One was enough—their beloved Edward Rogers. He was already hard to deal with why would they want another?

"You two really hate his guts, don’t you?" Edward asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Fine. I’ll go there myself."

----

Ryzen began spinning the chain around him, the links whirring in the air like a predator ready to strike. His eyes were locked on Ryuk, a wicked smile playing on his lips.

"Don’t give me that look. Pull out your weapon before you get yourself killed," he sneered.

Ryuk remained still, silent, watching his so-called enemy.

Until today, he had never seen anyone like himself—another Prime—except through the vague warnings of his meta-bot. And now here one stood, unhinged, laughing, eyes wild. He hadn’t expected the other Prime to be this... insane.

"Do we really have to fight?" Ryuk asked,

In front of him, Ryzen tapped the front of his foot on the ground like he was feeling a beat only he could hear. His head moved side to side as if music had begun playing in his mind out of nowhere. The grin widened. His white shirt was already stained with blood, and the wind tousled his unruly purple hair.

"Be careful," Ryuk’s meta-bot spoke quietly. "Purple’s abilities are unlike most. His weapon often ignores standard armor defenses. It even advises its user mid-combat—constantly adapting."

Across from them, the purple meta-bot responded to Ryzen.

"Black has telekinesis—but currently it’s limited to his weapon."

"He can deflect any attack that connects to his chain-like weapon," Ryuk’s meta-bot added. "it can be lengthened at will"

"He can unleash continuous strikes just by motioning his hands," the purple bot warned. "Don’t let your guard down. He doesn’t tire. The only way to stop him is direct damage."

In this moment, it was more than just a fight between two warriors—it was a war of information between two ancient meta-bots, relaying every known tactic and counter-like generals on a battlefield.

Only Ryzen seemed hungry for combat. Eager. Wild.

Ryuk stood calm, unnerving.

Ryzen twisted his wrist sharply—his chain snapped sideways, a blur in the air.

Ryuk barely ducked in time. A razor-edged hook at the end of the chain sliced past him, clipping a few strands of his hair. In mere seconds, what had looked like a simple chain had extended to nearly ten feet—its reach and speed taking Ryuk by surprise.

"Forgive me, I have no experience," Ryzen said with mock sincerity as his armor sealed up to his neck. "Here—I’ll give you a chance."

He traced his metallic finger across his now-exposed neck. "Cut here... and here." He even tilted his head to the side, daring Ryuk.

In response, Ryuk’s black armor unfolded smoothly Then, the circular disc embedded in the center of his chest hummed and detached, hovering into his palm like a loyal hawk returning to its master.

"I wanted to follow orders," Ryuk said quietly, his eyes finally sharpening. "But hell—let’s see what it feels like to fight someone like me."

"That’s the spirit!" Ryzen grinned, his expression wild with glee.

Around them, passersby froze. A few gasped. Some stepped back, forming an uneasy circle. Even though most had no idea what a Prime meta-bot truly was, the unnatural colors of their armors—the vivid black and sharp violet—radiated a vibe that unsettled even the most oblivious. It felt... wrong. Dangerous. Ancient.

Instinctively, people knew: that something far beyond their understanding was about to unfold.

Tyson’s and Nancy’s eyes met.

She stood up from her seat, nervous, anxious—he was finally here, she thought. he was here for her.

But then, a murmur rippled through the street behind Tyson. People were gathering, whispering. Something was happening. Tyson turned slightly, troubled, and saw it—two Rogues locked in a deadly standoff, and at any moment the fight could start.

And across the street... stood Nancy, waiting. For him. For them.

A strange chill crawled across his skin. It felt like the distance between them wasn’t just physical anymore—it was growing, stretching like a chasm he might never cross. if he did not move now he wont able to see her again, that was what his heart felt.

His grip around the bouquet tightened. The red roses trembled in his hands, concealing the velvet box hidden within—the ring he had chosen just for her.

He clenched his jaw. A choice again. Duty... or love. "Ignore them, Tyson... let someone else handle it today."

He knew if he interfered, time would slip away. All his planning, all the courage it took to get here—ruined. who knows if he will get another chance, who knows if something will happen or not... Officers would respond soon. He wasn’t the only Ranger in the city. He didn’t have to carry the world alone.

Nancy smiled. A soft, understanding smile as she slowly sat back down. She gestured to him gently, reassuringly"Take your time... I’ll wait as long she has to"

His heart ached. She was always like this. Too good. Too kind. He never felt like he truly deserved her love since he could not return it wholeheartedly; it has always been his duty to take priority, but not today...

He ran a thumb across the velvet box. it was his gift for her and it needed to reach her no matter what and Why shouldn’t he go to her? he thought. He deserves happiness too. Just one day. One moment. She was waiting why not his duty?

A loud crash erupted behind him—steel and force colliding—and the crowd gasped.

Tyson closed his eyes for a moment and then he made his decision. he stepped forward. His eyes met Nancy, while he took a step forward.

She was the only thing that mattered. He stepped onto the middle of the road. I’m going to her, he made up his mind.

A strange low hum vibrated in the distance — almost like the air was counting down to something unseen... And just as his foot touched the pavement— he vanished.

The bouquet froze mid-air in for a moment and then dropped on the street, a velvet box dropping with cling, ring running over the street as if broken promise.

The roses lay facing her for a moment then the car passed over them crushing them, while Nancy’s eyes wide.

He wasn’t on the street anymore.

Tyson found himself inside the battle room, Surrounded by other bewildered contenders—each marked for something greater or far more dangerous.

The Tournament had begun just like it always has, Randomly.

He watched his empty hands... no flowers or ring.
