Chapter 1303: Chapter 1322: Revenge
Jiuming was utterly confused. He took a deep drag of his cigarette and swallowed it, coughing repeatedly.
He wanted to ask, "Aren’t you angry? Aren’t you sad?" But then he thought, isn’t that just rubbing salt on the wound? He decided to keep his mouth shut.
"Haven’t had breakfast yet, have we? I missed dinner last night too. Come on, let me treat you to the most luxurious breakfast in the Imperial City."
"If I call you brother, Bei Jiang would die of anger when he gets back, wouldn’t he?"
"Let’s worry about that when he returns." As soon as Huo Beijiang was gone, Ying Jiuming would start feeling on top of the world. Shamelessly, he said, "Just treat me like your real brother. I just happen to not have a sister. From now on, I’ve got your back. If anyone dares to bully you, I’ll make them pay."
"Are you sure?"
Ying Jiuming hesitated for a moment, but his strong survival instinct made him change his words, "Or maybe when Bei Jiang comes back, you can tell him that it was your idea, that I had nothing to do with it."
Nan Fei just smiled and said nothing.
Ying Jiuming walked her toward the police car parked on the roadside. Halfway there, they saw Little Wang and Wei Qin standing next to the police car. Wei Qin, seemingly very sensitive to the cold, wore even more layers than Nan Fei. His thick scarf covered almost half of his face.
His prominent nose and deep, ink-like eyes were looking towards them.
"Wow! Who is this?" Ying Jiuming whistled, "What’s this? Not satisfied with snatching away someone’s brother, you want to strut around too?"
Little Wang’s eyes reddened with anger, and he stepped forward but was stopped by Wei Qin.
"Jiang Nanfei, may I have a word with you alone?" Wei Qin looked directly into Nan Fei’s eyes, hoping to see some other emotion. Unfortunately, he was disappointed.
Today’s Jiang Nanfei, though wan and haggard, was vastly different from the despairing and agonized Jiang Nanfei of last night.
In fact, after Jiang Nanfei and Fu Xinwu left last night, he regretted it. He admitted that he had indeed been a distant observer last night. If Jiang Dechun hadn’t had conflicts with Nan Fei, he wouldn’t have been able to acknowledge Jiang Yang as his own so smoothly.
Once Jiang Nanfei had left in disarray, he realized his mistake.
Jiang Yang’s autism had worsened, even more severe than before. This morning, his eyes had been blank. He locked himself away in his inner world, determined never to come out again.
"Who are you? We’re busy here! No time to deal with you." Ying Jiuming really despised the Wei family now.
"Who are you talking to?" Little Wang stared angrily, "Who are you talking to?"
"Little Wang, shut your mouth," Wei Qin chided in displeasure.
"Yes, I understand!" Little Wang’s eyes reddened, and he stepped back, no longer speaking.
Nan Fei’s hands were in her down jacket pockets, the warmth causing her to slightly squint her eyes. Her pale, drawn face also seemed a bit better. She gave Wei Qin a polite smile, "Sorry! I’m waiting to go have breakfast with Brother Ying! I don’t have time to talk to you alone."
She watched as a fog seemed to rise in Wei Qin’s deep, ink-like eyes, and she flashed a vengeful smile, "And besides, I have no need to talk to you. Do I have anything to do with your Wei Family? No!"
"Yes!" Wei Qin said firmly.
"If there is any relation, then it’s that of enemies. Your mother’s slap, your brother’s insults, your father and your affairs are of no concern to me." With each word she spoke, Wei Qin’s face grew uglier.
Nan Fei took a deep breath, feeling exhilarated for the first time. Turns out revenge really is addictive, certainly better than simple submission.
She had indeed made a huge mistake before.
