Chapter 158 - 158: Why Is The Shop Open?

When Ye Qian and the little girls entered the meat shop everything was silent like a graveyard at night, but the most astounding thing was the eerie silence in the shop and with it, the shop was still open despite no one staying at the counter.

Usually, rarely would any shopkeeper leave his counter alone much less when it was about to be night and thieves and the like might be lurking around usually.

Ye Qian narrowed his eyes and glanced around only to see there was no one in the whole shop and it seemed more like it was abandoned.

"Butterfly, Jia wait here Papa will come back", saying that Ye Qian waved his hand and the ring on his finger shone with bright light, soon it turned transparent and flew off his ring finger and flew towards Little Qiqi and Little Jia.

Soon a white light appeared on the ring as it expanded and hovered above the two girls' heads, surrounding them with a white halo.

"Papa, what is this?"

Little Qiqi asked seeing the ring on Ye Qian's finger fly to them and grew big and covered them.

"Butterfly, stay in this till Papa comes back."

"Jia, you too, don't come out of the white ring."

Ye Qian didn't explain to Little Qiqi and just told her to be in it while he turned to Little Jia and also said the same to her.

"Yes Papa, come soon."

The two nodded and waved their hands at Ye Qian.

He nodded at them and then walked to the back of the shop where he felt some movements and knew that something was amiss.

"CREAKKKKK"

The old iron door was opened with a shrill creaking sound while the sound amplified in the empty shop sending a shiver to the little girls who were still in the light cylinder.

On top of their heads, the ring continued to float while various different colours of light albeit in small amounts would come out of the ring and mend into the white light.

The girls felt calm and their sudden sense of fear was driven.

What the girls didn't know was that the sudden shiver they felt was not due to the creaking of the door but some different reason.

But the thing ran away after the Samsara Ring emitted some of the Golden Light.

The little girls then sat there while talking for some time until their Papa would come back to take them.

Meanwhile, as Ye Qian opened the door he was greeted by gloomy darkness, but the darkness didn't affect him from seeing what was going on in the room, after sniffing a few times he didn't want to smell the air in this place either.

Ye Qian glanced around with his Spirit Sight only to see a few people who had their faces covered were holding knives on the old man and the worker while the little girl, Xiao Ya, was held by a man who seemed to be glaring at Ye Qian.

(The Xiao Ya here is different, here Xiao means Little and Ya is her name, so only her family call her Xiao Ya; while the Xiao Ya which is still in Ye Qian's house has her surname as Xiao and name as Ya.)

The little girl had tears in her eyes and she seemed a lot afraid since she continuously stared at the man who held her.

Ye Qian sighed and shook his head.

The people here were definitely not some normal thieves.

They sure had done murder and killings before, he had noticed some rancid smell while he had just entered the shop, but after he walked to this room, the murderous aura continued to increase with each step that he took.

Ye Qian had always been simple-minded, even in the cultivation world he was the same and had little to no arrogance, but when he confronted something like this he would never stop himself from helping some needy people.

And there seemed to be something more than just that, it was like something was here and it made him feel eerie.

Ye Qian waved his hand and closed the door.

A sigh echoed in the whole dark room filled with silence.

He took a few steps and didn't walk near anyone who was there.

He wanted them to think that he had not seen anyone and let them continue to hide in the shadows.

"Ahh, the old man is really gone, I wanted to buy some meat, but why is the shop still open yet?"

Ye Qian mumbled aloud so as to make the people in the shadows let their guard down.

Though he was confident that he could be able to handle everyone here, still there were no less than 8 people wearing black cloth on their faces.

And what he was worried about was not that he couldn't handle them but that they held people really close to them and with all the things he had seen till now, Ye Qian had got the vague idea that these people would not even bat an eye to slice the knife off the old man and the other guy's neck even before he tried to make a move first.

Ye Qian thought and then tried to make them think he didn't find anything peculiar due to darkness and was just a customer who had come in since the shop was open so he entered the back door to check if someone was in there or not.

Ye Qian didn't know if this would be helpful or not, but he was ready that if there was any movement in the people with black masks then he would outright kill them even before they could react, he was only worried about the other three who were held as hostages.
