Awakening to a Special-Grade Explorer
Vol. 4 - Ch. 205 - Arrival of Unexpected

“I…impossible…”

Tenji’s eyes widened at the unbelievable scene playing in front of him and rooted on the stop.

He was sure that the monster was completely erased, and it should have not a single bit of energy left to regenerate itself. It should have been impossible, nowhere in the world was a monster who could achieve it just with a head remaining. Neither he had heard about such a creature who had made it back to living after death.

Above all, Tenji himself had seen not a single lining of vitality was lit in the monster's eyes earlier.

There was no other way to put it; the monster had died once.

‘Please, spare us with any more nonsense…’ Tenji prayed in his mind, knowing the futility of the act it holds. He held the greatsword at his waist level and prepared for the battle. However—

“H…huhh?”

He had just tried to stand upright when dizziness assailed him.

The world around him fell into darkness for a split moment, his body stumbling forward in a crash. It took him a while to realise he didn't have strength left being to even hold the Hell King Blade. His body was already loaded with weariness, long passing the endurance.

The burden was both due to compensation, and for jumping into hellfire with a mortal body.

He may not have noticed but those factors had put an immense burden on his body. Frankly, Tenji’s body was completely spent, even taking a single step wasn't plausible.

Still, he forced himself to quickly adjust his stance and taking out his willpower, took a step forward in the direction he was about to fall. He barely prevented the fall, but succeeded nonetheless, and the blackout had also unfurled.

But, Tenji felt another surprise of the day.

"R-LIVE-k! Little, you, kill you."

That monster was already in front of his vision.

It had only managed to recover half of the body at the moment, but it snarled at Tenji and closed the distance while opening its jagged mouth. An orange hue was mixed in the eyes of the monster. Something...was different about that monster.

The distance between it and Tenji was merely three metres.

It was a matter of a couple seconds before that monster came pouncing at him.

He was out of options. His ragged body was in no condition to face the assault, and with the dizziness assailing his mind, maybe, his defeat was all but settled.

His tendons were exhausted so swinging the Hell King Blade was just impossible. He couldn't even utter any word, or else he could at least defend himself with a sound barrier.

Cornered, he could only have a stare off with the impending face of calamity. Or atleast, that's what he thought.

But he forgot that the world didn't have just him as an explorer. It wasn't only him who couldn't wait to fight that monster if given the chance.

"Helix Magic---<Samsara>."

A fist passed by Tenji's shoulder from behind, slightly grazing it.

(---!?)

Tenji glanced at the fist and was surprised. The fist wasn't a mere manifestation of physical violence. Nearly tangible, purplish-red spirals were wildly spinning around the first, one that must not be touch kind. Perhaps, the fitting expression would be a wild---not fierce, tempest to represent its might.

The fist found its mark on the face of the monster straight. But in the same window as that first contact the monster's face, twenty more attacks showered the monster, opening holes all over its face. A single fist had split into twenty.

The might packing the fist was also no less than first class.

"Grrrr!? Grruuu!?"

The fist, appearing out of nowhere, was far more powerful than the monster had expected. Unable to deal with it, the fist bashed really hard into its face and sent him flying backward, stopping only when the monster had crashed into the huge boulder head-first. Its arm limped, devoid of any strength.

"Impossible......isn't this technique---"

Tenji even forgot to breathe as he gazed at the spectacle.

At the same time, a familiar scene evoked in his mind. That day, too, he had been saved in a similar fashion. Saved from that hell.

It was an unforgettable moment for him, which was lifelong etched into his mind.

He could only recall one explorer who could draw in purplish-red spirals like the one he just saw.

He was the egoist as all he has ever seen, yet more free-spirited than anyone. And, also the world's strongest---

"Aaaaccck!? What the hell is that bastard made of, so freaking hard!?"

Hearing the complaining, yet reliable voice, Tenji immediately turned on his heel to look behind. Just like the eyes of readers, enchanted by the hero of fables, he looked at the person.

"Leon-san!"

The man was taken back when he saw that child-like expression. He gestured to Tenji with a 'don't look at me like that' expression.

"U-Ugh... can you not give me that gaze, it makes my skin crawl. Well, glad to see you alive though. I, for sure, thought it's a game over here."

Tenji immediately noticed the lie in those words.

There were huge dark circles beneath those eyes, as if the man hadn't caught a wink of sleep for ages. Even his clothes were looking more akin to ragged clothes of the kitchen, which shows he had made a no-stop journey to here.

However, Tenji didn't point it out. As, above all, he had seen a new hope in the arrival of Leon.

Leon Hakusei, the strongest zero-grade explorer. As long as he was here, even the impossible was possible, Tenji thought.
