Awakening to a Special-Grade Explorer -
Vol. 4 - Ch. 198
The battle between the demon and monster left no room for interference.
Perhaps, meddling was a strong word here at this moment. After all, the explorers that had been there in the beginning were now cowering on the ground, prostrating at the edge of the infernal battlefield after being terrorised by Ibuki Douji's presence.
No one was an exception to that, neither Alex, Hwang nor any other member. They could only look up at the torture that was ongoing, with being nothing more than a mute bystander.
It was in that moment Kujou and team arrived at the torture ground, though they, too, were no exception to that. The infernal prairie was acting as the dividing bridge that kept them at bay, taking away their courage to stop them.
Abruptly, Kujou extended her hand toward those hell flames.
"You can't Kujou-san! Stop!"
Tenji hurriedly stopped her from taking any reckless action. They might be staring at the same flames, but they certainly don't share the opinion over it. Everything projected no difference in their eyes but Tenji was as if he was looking at something else, something that was beyond mere flame.
They were hellfire, a flame tailor made to torture the deads. A taboo for living to touch it, for it would be their fall to hell should they ever touch it.
"......You know what these flames are?"
"Yes, something that you should never ever touch. They are nothing like the flame I use."
"I see, thanks for the save then. But......how are we going to help out if we can't enter?"
Kujou had just muttered in frustration when Honnou tapped on her shoulder. Then he stepped in front of everyone and ignoring what Tenji had said, extended his hand toward those flames.
"Well, I don't think that side needs our intervention either way though."
He casually said and put his hand inside those flames.
Tenji had wanted to stop him but Honnou did it so suddenly he didn't have the time for that, and ultimately could only let out a dumbfounded 'ahh' gasp.
Though Honnou himself wasn't showing any different reaction.
"I see......this is certainly not your ordinary flame. I would like to offer an explanation but no I can’t find words to describe exactly what I can sense . But yes, you should definitely not touch it, Kujou. Even I would be charred in just a minute should I try to enter. This is undoubtedly the flames for torture."
"Huh?"
On the other hand, Tenji unwittingly raised a stupid gasp.
Honnou pulled back his flame as if to say 'I'm all fine' and indeed, there was no sign of burn or charred.
"Well, no need to be so worried, Tenji Amagi. I have temporary immunity against the flames due to my calling. There's no way I would have been able to hold those lava rocks with bare hands, no? So you don't have to be concerned about my well being."
"I-I see...amazing."
Tenji heaved a sigh of relief. Though the situation shifted right then. The hellfire suddenly moved around as if to swallow Tenji within them. At the same time, he felt increasingly sharp glare piercing him from the battlefield.
"What are you looking at it as if you're at a picnic, brat. Come here."
It seemed like Ibuki Douji couldn't withstand Tenji so leisurely chatting outside of that flame wall and called out to him in an irked tone. His voice was also carrying a hint of terror. It was only an instant and the other four aside from Tenji fell on the ground.
It was basically the reiteration of an earlier scene. Everyone aside from Tenji couldn't contest against that fear. It was clear Tenji was the only exception and at this point, only him and Ibuki Douji could be seen standing in the battlefield.
When it happened in such a stuck up situation, everyone's gaze naturally directed at those two exceptions.
The eyes of explorers who had been there before it all started were tinted with a questioning look, seemingly asking why a student of all was standing so calmly. Then again, it was a valid question when they didn't know Ibuki Douji was the summon of Tenji.
The might that Ibuki Douji showed wasn’t something that they would expect from a school kid’s summon.
Tenji, on other hand, laughed gleefully. Then he turned a sharp gaze toward Ibuki Douji fighting on the distant battlefield.
"Alright. I will come right away."
He replied quite carefreely before turning his body halfway and said to Kujou and other three, who were kneeling behind him.
"I apologise, Commander Kujou. I will be leaving the team for now. It's time to settle this."
Leaving those words behind, he strided gallantly toward the centre of the battlefield.
He stepped into that field of hellfire unfazed and headed toward that battlefield.
The hellfire flickered as if dancing at the arrival of Tenji. It may have been a simple walk, nonetheless it naturally became the path for the future king. A royal road for its king.
