"You really can't hear anything other than nature's sound huh."

Tenji sat down at the edge of the cliff, his legs dangling down, and leisurely gazed at nature.

By straining the ear just by a bit, he could hear wind blowing, the rustling of tree's leaves or the sound of waves from nearby lake. However the typical chirping of crickets, twittering of small birds as well as the chorus of frogs was missing from this scenery.

A tiny silver of quietness filled the air between them. The first to break that silence was Limey. She didn't turn toward Tenji, but just kept her gaze at the forest and asked.

"What is the role assigned to you?"

Tenji was caught a bit off-guard at the sudden question coming his way. But managed enough to glance at Limey and answered.

"To support you and exterminate any underlings. Isn't it?"

"......Indeed."

Limey looked a bit like she was having a laugh. Illuminated by the light of stars, her wrinkled face somehow comes out as...lonesome. While staring at her, Tenji hurled the next question.

"Say......Can I ask something as well?"

"What might it be?"

"What exactly is the 'Lacking Person'? I was meaning to ask Leon-san, but I can't get hold of him at all recently."

Limey paused for a little while, then started speaking in a placid tone.

"Indeed, you are still a first-year student huh. My old bones tend to forget your strength isn't a mirror to your age. Indeed so......"

Limey started her preface with these words as she sat down on the rock. Just like Tenji, she threw both legs over the cliff edge. Then, when she seemed to have made up her mind, continued.

"If I have to preface with, there are no more than six people to whom 'lacking person' applies. Me, Leon, Aubraka, Jay, Ronibara and Fuyuki Kuro."

Tenji was astonished. Well, it makes sense. Because all the names she mentioned were holders of zero-grade calling.

"So, it's a word that comes in-hand with zero-grade calling?"

"Correct. 'Lacking Person'...In exchange for strong power, we lost a part of our emotions that made us human. Truly an apt expression to describe us folks."
