Awakening of the Scheming Wife -
Chapter 99: Throw under the bus? Yes!
Chapter 99: Throw under the bus? Yes!
Vernon was stunned. "That wasn’t what I meant. I mean,..."
He thought that Helena felt he was scared about himself and wanted to explain himself. He was more worried for her.
"I know." Helena smiled and repeated. "I know. I know that you care about me. The same way I care about you. Don’t worry. No harm will come towards us. I won’t let anything happen. Okay?"
Vernon blinked his eyes. He felt an arrow hit his heart. Why is his wife so cool?
He fell for her charms once again.
Damn it! No, he shouldn’t. They will divorce in the future. They are a man and wife only for a year. He shouldn’t develop the feelings for her that he developed in his previous life.
He nodded, "Fine. If you know what you are doing, then everything is good."
Helena nodded back, "Yes. So, relax. No matter what, as long as Professor Jones gets involved, I know that she would take care of everything. So, there is no need to worry about anything."
Vernon pursed his lips and expressed his doubt, "What if Professor Jones did not side with us, but she gets angry at us instead? What if she wants revenge on you for doing that ’prank’? With Minister Morris’s love for her, he would do anything she asked him. If they got together and wanted to deal with us, wouldn’t that be more dangerous?"
Helena smiled. She calmly and firmly shook her head. "That will never happen. Professor Jones is not like that. She would never do such a thing. Well, I did something that would harm others, that would be a different matter. But I did no such thing. Even though she suffered because of me, no one was really harmed. So, she wouldn’t mind. Instead she would just get angry at Minister Morris instead.
"She is a teacher. She would think of the benefits for the younger generation. Not to harm them. The moment she found that her husband did something to harm me, she would get angry at him. No matter what I did later, she knew that it was just because of his actions, and she would only think that they deserved it."
Vernon blinked his eyes.
This is not a simple strategy.
To plan something like what she did, she should understand the personalities of everyone involved.
She had to know how Minister Morris would react when Professor Jones finds out about the truth, and how the latter would react after knowing about his actions. Only after completely understanding the personalities of both of them could she plan something so meticulous and intricate.
The plan wasn’t anything big. It was very simple. A bit too simple, actually.
But if the same plan was used on any other couple, it would a hundred percent backfire on Helena.
Vernon was stunned by how much calculation she put into doing this.
Then he couldn’t help but think, did she really?
Did she really do so much calculation? Or did she just casually think of the plan from what she knows of Faye and her parents?
It is not like everyone had to struggle the same amount for the same problem. Some find the answer as soon as they see a question, while some have to do a few pages’ worth of calculation to get the answer.
So, which one was Helena in this situation?
On the other side, Madam Morris pulled her husband and daughter to a side. She found a room and took them inside where no one could hear their conversation or disturb them.
As soon as she locked the door, she placed her hands on her hips and looked at the other two.
The father and daughter duo lowered their heads and did not dare to look at her at all.
"What happened? Why are you looking down now? Aren’t you both so daring to do the things you have done? Why are you both acting now, huh?" Madam Morris asked sharply, with her anger clearly evident in her voice.
The two did not dare to raise their heads after listening to her anger. Instead, they lowered their heads even further.
"Seriously, what are you both thinking, huh? Why did you both target Helena for no reason? Do you enjoy bullying her so much? What exactly do you want to achieve by doing that?" Professor Jones continued to ask.
"Mom, I didn’t do anything. It was Father. I found out only after he did. I was never involved." Faye threw her father under the bus in order to live.
"What?" Faye’s father raised his head in shock and looked at her. He did not believe she would do that to him.
"Mom. I am telling the truth. I did not do anything. When I found out what dad had done, I even asked him why he did such a thing. I got angry because I knew Helena would think that it was because of me." Faye pouted her lips as she aired all her grievances in front of her mother.
Her mom looked at her dad.
Father Morris coughed, not saying anything.
"Won’t you say anything?" Madam Morris asked.
"Umm. That girl spoke badly about you. So, I have to teach her a lesson, right? But I did not think that she would do such a thing to you. How dare that little girl? Just because of a small thing that I did, she actually made you lose your important appointment. You even got scolded by your superior because of that, even though you did not do anything wrong. I won’t leave that girl. She should be punished," As he spoke, Minister Morris got carried away and started scolding Helena in anger, as he started to plan about what to do to her as her punishment for what she did to harm his wife.
If a few words could cost her an important meeting, then the punishment for making his wife suffer would definitely be a few times huge.
