Awakening of the Scheming Wife -
Chapter 80: Dream? Yes!
Chapter 80: Dream? Yes!
"Fine. If you insist so much, then I will come to your party. Happy now?" Merlin smiled.
Since the couple were of one mind, he did not mind and agreed to Helena’s request.
"Yes. Happy. I will send the invitation to this number. I will be waiting for you." Helena smiled happily before hanging up on the call.
She turned to Vernon and smiled, "He said he is coming."
Vernon nodded. "Did he make the call?"
Helena nodded, "Yes. I was stunned when I saw his name on the caller id earlier. It took a long time for me to calm down and answer. Uff."
"Why did he call? Is it about my call?" Vernon asked.
"Yeah. He wanted to thank us. He said that your call was helpful and he found someone who was indeed trying to harm him." Helena did not hide anything and said everything Merlin told her to him.
Vernon frowned, "Damn. So, it wasn’t an accident but a murder plan? I thought he d... I mean I thought he was just about to encounter an accident. I never thought it was a murder attempt instead. Thank God we called him then. I actually wondered if he would think I was crazy if I made a call and contemplated for a long time if I should make that call."
He almost said the word ’died’ and stopped himself before changing the words.
Helena patted his shoulder and nodded in understanding. Then she couldn’t help but ask, "But how did you know that something would happen to him?"
Vernon pursed his lips for a second before saying, "Actually, I had a dream. I saw a few things in it. One among them was that man having an accident."
Helena looked at him. She frowned and asked, "But why did you see him in your dream? Have you known him before?"
Vernon shook his head, "No. Never. That day in the parking lot was the first time I had ever seen him."
He wasn’t lying. In both his lives, that was really the first time he had seen Merlin directly. He never even knew his name until they went to the cemetery to find his details.
Helena frowned and after a few seconds, she shrugged casually and said, "Looks like we both have some sort of connection with him in our past lives. That’s why we met like this and you dreamt of him to save him."
She even winked happily.
She was as bubbly and chirpy as usual and Vernon nodded with a smile.
He was happy that their conversation about the divorce did not change Helena by much and she was behaving as her usual self.
Despite everything, he doesn’t want to lose her as his friend. At this moment, she was still the same friend as their younger days and she did not do anything that could harm him or his family.

Just like that, it was the day of the anniversary celebration day.
The banquet starts in the evening.
All the employees were given a day off so they could enjoy and attend the party with full energy along with their families.
As the new daughter in law of the Jeffery’s, everyone’s eyes would be on Helena on this day.
This is her official first event after she entered their family.
So she had so much more to prepare than the others.
In the early morning, she woke up and ate some breakfast before started to get ready.
The makeup artists and the dress and everything were ready.
They were just waiting for her.
Helena looked at the dress hanging in front of her and took a deep breath. She raised her hand after making a cute fist and announced, "I can do it."
Her actions looked so cute that everyone couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
They understood what she meant.
The dress was a size smaller than her size. Once she wears it, she wouldn’t be able to breathe as freely anymore. But for the sake of the event, she had no choice but to suffer a little.
"Second Madam, you don’t have to wear the dress right now. Let’s just start with the hair, then makeup, and at last we can go with the dress," One of them spoke softly, trying to ’console’ her.
Helena pursed his lips and nodded cutely as if she had just been pardoned from something severe.
It was still early in the morning. If she wore the dress now, she had to keep it on till almost midnight because the party would go on for a long time. And, as one of the hosts, she couldn’t leave the party as early as she wished.
So, the earlier she wore the dress, the longer she had to keep it on and there was no way she could live without breathing for that long.
The hairstylist smiled and greeted her before starting with her hair.
After who knows how many hours, the hair was done.
"What do you think, Second madam?" The hairstylist asked her.
Helena looked at her reflection in the mirror and nodded.
The hair was actually just flowing freely. That was what the onlookers would see. But only they know that not even a single strand of hair would move from its place because of the stylist’s meticulous care.
A small part of her hair was curled into a small flower and pinned on the top. Helena selected that hairstyle long ago for this party and she was satisfied with the outcome. So she smiled and even praised the stylist.
Next came the makeup artist. It took another few hours for the makeup to be done.
But once again, Helena was satisfied by the end look and she smiled prettily.
"It’s been so many hours already. Are you done?" They heard Vernon’s voice from the door and everyone turned to him.
As soon as he looked at Helena, he blinked his eyes. After a couple of seconds, he smiled and whistled like a goon harassing a lady on the streets, "Yo! What a pretty lady! Wanna come to my place tonight?"
