Awakening of the Scheming Wife -
Chapter 75: One chance? Sure!
Chapter 75: One chance? Sure!
"You adopted someone? Is it a dolphin?" Jim’s throat felt stuck but he still asked.
He could already see that the one he had ’adopted’ was a ’fish’ in the sea. The bowl he was holding was food for his ’fish’.
Jim could only wish that the ’fish’ that he had adopted was a dolphin and not what he was thinking.
Merlin did not reply this time. He just chuckled and started to throw the food in his bowl to the sea.
Jim could hear huge splashes from the water.
His heart tightened at once.
"Good boy. Are you hungry? Don’t worry. I got you some food today," Merlin smiled and spoke to the waters.
’Food? Please tell me he didn’t mean me.’ Jim prayed to himself.
But his prayers went unanswered as Merlin looked at him straight.
"B...boss?" Jim crawled a little to the back when he saw his gaze that resembled a predator’s.
Merlin looked at his men, "What are you waiting for? Where is the rope?"
The men immediately scurried around, brought a rope, pulled Jim, someone even removed his clothes and tied his legs to the long rope they just got.
"Wh.. what are you all doing? Stop. Stop it. Keep your hands away from me. Why are you taking my shirt off? No. Give my shirt back to me. Hey, where are you placing your hands? Leave my pants alone. Why are you pulling on my pants? Hey! Don’t you hear what I am saying? I said stop it. Leave me alone."
Jim’s screams were heard in the air but no one cared or reacted to his sounds.
They acted like they couldn’t hear anything and continued with their tasks.
In a couple of minutes, everything was done and Jim was now hanging upside down high in the air, with his legs tied to a rope.
"Ahhhh!!!!!" Jim screamed. He wasn’t a young man. He is a middle aged man with a stout figure. His naked figure wasn’t a good view to anyone but who was there to enjoy his abs?
They were there to watch him being fed to the shark in the sea obviously.
Yes, the shark.
The shark was the adopted pet Merlin was talking about.
Jim had an epiphany that that would be the case but when he was hanging in the air, he could clearly see the sharks’ face from above.
Seeing the shark’s sharp teeth, the volume of Jim’s scream only grew louder.
Merlin frowned and dug his ears, "We should have stuffed his mouth with something before we hung him there, right? I never knew this man had such a strong voice before."
When his men heard their boss’s words, they couldn’t control their laughter.
Merlin looked at their laughing faces and laughed along with them.
"Ahh! I want to eat as well. Get some fried fish we caught earlier and gather around. Let’s have dinner," Merlin said casually while Jim was still hanging in the air.
His men agreed and brought the fish out and started to cook it as per Merlin’s tastes.
"..." Jim was speechless at his situation. On one hand, he was about to become fish’s food and they were enjoying seafood right beside him?
He could even smell the nice aroma of the fish being fried.
Despite his current position, his mouth watered.
He wanted to slap himself for his reaction but his hands were busy hanging. He could pull them to reach his face but the gravity felt a bit too strong.
The night’s and sea’s chill and the terror of the shark’s teeth below him added to the chaos by freezing his limbs.
"Lower him a little," The dark words sounded through the sweetest voice one could hear.
Jim felt his body inching closer and closer to the shark.
He screamed again, "Ahhhh!!! Boss... Boss.. please. Please save me. Please forgive me. I would never lie to you again. I promise. Please forgive me just this once. Only once. Boss... please. Please. Ahhh!!!"
The number of pleases he used in this one speech could be more than the ones he had used all his life.
Merlin raised an eyebrow, "Oh? You will never lie to me again?"
Jim nodded. With his head hanging upside down, he felt the action a bit difficult but he forced himself to it, "Yes. Yes. I will never lie to you again."
"Fine. Then I will give you one chance. One last and final chance. Okay?" Merlin smiled and asked. Or rather, offered.
Jim did not delay for a second and nodded, "Sure. Sure. Thank you, boss. Thank you so much."
Merlin continued to smile, "Okay. Now I am going to ask you a question and you are going to answer me immediately."
"Okay, Boss."
"Tell me the name of the man you asked to kill me in an accident," Merlin asked simply.
His casual tone and the way Jim stiffened did not match each other at all.
They looked like two extremes. If one looked at their expressions alone, one would think they were having two completely different conversations.
"Boss?" Jim muttered softly, without saying anything.
"Wrong. You did not order my murder to me. I just gave you a chance and you lost your chance." Merlin stated.
"..." ’I clearly did not say that you were the one I ordered to. I just called out, that’s all.’ He thought to himself but there is no way he would say that out loud.
"Bring him here," Merlin ordered.
Jim frowned in confusion. ’Who is he bringing now?’
In a few seconds, he had the answer right in front of his eyes.
A man, who was beaten up into pulp and was tied up, was thrown in front of Merlin.
"What is your name?" Merlin asked the man.
The man groaned, but did not answer. He was obviously in too much pain to speak.
But Merlin’s man did not pity him and kicked him in the back, "Didn’t you hear my boss’s question?"
