Awakening of the Scheming Wife
Chapter 63: Death? Yes!

Chapter 63: Death? Yes!

While having breakfast, Vernon suddenly froze.

It was because he recalled the man’s face.

Actually, he did not know much about him, but he had read a piece of news about him in his past life.

He doesn’t remember all the details about the article, but he was sure about one thing.

That man was dead.

But when did that happen? Vernon thought to himself.

During their company’s anniversary, he learnt that ten years ago, the man had died in an accident.

Ten years ago.

That was his present, right?

Their company’s anniversary was that man’s death anniversary. That was why he remembered his face a little.

So, that man is going to die on their company’s anniversary this year?

How many days is left for that?

Vernon felt his brain freeze.

It was in a week.

Since his rebirth, he was busy dealing with his ’married life’ and did not care much about other matters. Everything he did or tried to change was something small.

But when he faced a man who he knew would die in a few days, he felt like someone had hit his head with a huge hammer.

How could dealing with simple matters like leaving his wife and saving his company in the future be the same as dealing with someone’s life and death matters?

The scale had gone from a single digit to nineties in just a moment for him.

After knowing that a person will die in a few days, Vernon lost his appetite. He felt his stomach churn instead.

"What happened? Did you not like the food here?" Helena saw that Vernon wasn’t eating and asked him.

Vernon shook his head, "No. The food is good. But I am not too hungry right now."

Helena frowned. [We met Uncle Hubert early in the morning. So, we were very late for our breakfast today. He should be very hungry, right? What happened to him?]

Vernon sighed. He decided to ignore her thoughts and asked her instead, "The man whom you saw at the parking lot earlier..."

"Yeah? What about him?" Helena asked him in confusion.

"Do you have his contact information?"

Helena frowned, but she answered sincerely by shaking her head. "No. I didn’t even get the chance to find his name, let alone his contact information. Why do you ask? Do you know him?"

Vernon shook his head and then nodded his head. Then he shook his head again.

How should he put it?

"What do you mean by that? Do you know him or not?" Helena was even more confused.

"I don’t know him, but I need to talk to him about something. I can’t explain this matter to you." Vernon sighed.

He knows he would sound crazy right now. But what could he do?

He can’t say that he knows the man would die in a week, and he had to inform that man to stay careful, right?

He would only look even more crazy if he did that.

He waited for Helena to scold him for being crazy in her thoughts.

But surprisingly, nothing of that sort happened.

She just casually nodded, "Oh. I don’t know his details, though. But if you want to find his details, I think you can meet the people from the cemetery of yesterday. I heard his parents were there. So, you might find his details over there."

Vernon blinked his eyes and looked at Helena in surprise.

He was very sure that she would scold him in her heart.

Not only did she not scold him, but she even carefully thought of ways to find the solution to his problem.

Vernon smiled and thanked her softly.

Helena nodded and continued eating.

"Can we go to the cemetery together after eating?" he asked her. He thought that with her by his side, finding the details of that man would be easier.

Helena looked at him for a few seconds and then nodded, "Okay. Sure. I want to find his details as well. He seems to be a good person to befriend."

Vernon blinked his eyes.

Did Helena just praise a man in front of him?

Helena was never the type of person who would make friends casually.

The only best friend she had was Grace. They became friends only because they had been neighbors since they were young. Otherwise, Vernon was very sure that there was no chance that they would ever become friends at all.

The other few friends Helena had also took a long time before they became close. Even then, Helena would still keep her distance from them regarding most of her matters.

There were, at most, a handful of people she would share her thoughts and feelings with.

So, when Vernon heard that a man whom she met for just a day made her have such a good impression, he couldn’t believe his ears at all.

"You want to make friends with him? You don’t even know his name, and yet you want to make friends with him?" He couldn’t help but ask her twice.

Helena blinked her eyes. She could sort of understand his thoughts and doubts. In fact, she herself did not know what she thought when she felt that way about that man.

But she knows that she wants to be friends with him.

So, she nodded, "Yes. I think he is a good man."

Vernon blinked his eyes and asked, "What did he talk to you about? How did he make your heart go soft just like that?"

He did not sound jealous. He was genuinely curious.

Helena tilted her head to the side and blinked her eyes like a little lamb. She pursed her lips and thought for a while.

"I can’t be sure. He did not say much either. I just have this feeling, you know?" She did not know how to express her feelings.

"What feeling?" Vernon looked curious.

"Like a family? Yeah. He felt like a member of the family. Like I am looking at my elder." Helena smiled sweetly as she thought about that man.
