Chapter 52: Daddy’s princess? Well...
Helena took the card from his hand and looked at it. She read the name on it. "Hubert Coleman."
"This looks like his personal card. Not his official one." Helena frowned when she saw the card.
Vernon nodded, "I thought the same. Anyway I think we will find out the details when you call him. He was ready to talk to you. He looks like he knows so much about you and your mom."
Helena nodded. I will freshen up and then call. Because she had just woken up and still felt groggy, her voice sounded raspy.
There is no way she could talk to a police commissioner with that voice.
Vernon nodded. He agreed with her.

Vernon saw Helena looking down after the call with the commissioner. He frowned and asked, "What happened? Did something go wrong?"
Helena looked sad as she looked at him and nodded with a pout.
Vernon’s frown deepened, "Did he not want to talk to you? Or did he give us the wrong number?"
Helena shook her head, "No. He gave the right number, and he also wanted to talk to me. But..."
"What is it? Why are you not finishing your sentence like that? You know I will die from curiosity, right?" Vernon snapped like a child.
Helena pouted, "I didn’t want to do that either. I just..."
"You say that you don’t want to do that, but you are doing that again. Why are you doing this to me? Instead of wasting the time you could have told me already by now, you know?"
"Oh! Yeah. Well, what happened is that he said he wanted to meet me today, but suddenly he got a call from someone that he had to leave the city today for some work." Helena answered.
"Huh?" Vernon frowned. There is something in her words. She did not say that he had to leave the city for work. Instead, she said that someone had called him to leave the city for work.
Just a few words, and yet the meaning had changed completely.
"Who is it? Who called him and interrupted our meeting?" Vernon asked. It is clear that someone did that on purpose just to sabotage their plan.
"Umm..." Helena looked like she had swallowed a fly.
"Who is it?" Vernon had a bad feeling when he saw her expression.
"Umm..." She couldn’t bring herself to say the name out loud at all.
Vernon raised an eyebrow. He suddenly had a thought.
He blinked his eyes, "Is it who I think it is?"
Helena knows who he was thinking of from his expression. She pursed her lips and nodded.
He sighed in defeat. "This is nonsense. No way, right?"
"Well, I didn’t think this would happen as well. She really is her daddy’s princess," Helena pouted.
Vernon nodded, not knowing what else to say.
***
"Dad? What are you saying? You did that against her? Do you know what Helena will think about me when she knows? She will definitely say that I am my daddy’s princess," The person whom Helena and Vernon were talking about was complaining to her daddy with her lips pouted.
Her dad did not look like he cared about her ’outrage’ and smiled like a Buddha as he gently caressed his daughter’s head, "Aren’t you my princess?"
"But I don’t want Helena to think of me like that. This is not fair. Why did you have to do this behind my back? You should have at least asked me before doing something like that," Faye grumbled and complained while stomping her feet. "This is a fight between me and Helena. How would I look if I brought my father into our fight?"
"Who said I did it for you?" Faye’s father asked her.
"Huh? If not for me, then why did you go against Helena just like that?" Faye asked in confusion and also not really believing her father.
"Didn’t that young lady talk about your mother yesterday? How can I let her go just like that after she insulted my wife?" Faye’s father asked her with a ’normal’ expression.
"..." Faye was dumbfounded. She knew that her father loved her mother the most. But does he have to do this in front of his own daughter?
"Dad. You know that wasn’t what she meant when she said that. She was just retaliating against me. She never wanted to really insult mom," Faye said to her father.
Even though she did not like Helena, she knows the latter’s motive wasn’t really bad during their ’fight’ the day before.
"Of course I know. If even a little girl like you can see that, why can’t I?" Faye’s father just gave his daughter a side eye.
"Huh? If you know that, then why did you still go against her like that? She even came to Leon’s birthday to meet him. Do you still remember what Leon had done to her a few years ago? If I were in her shoes, I would never step foot anywhere Leon was. Yet, she came to his birthday yesterday. It showed how important it was for her to meet him. So, why do you have to do that?" Faye did not understand her father’s actions at all.
No matter how much Faye hated Helena, that was to the extent of having a verbal fight with her, and that’s all. She never wanted to destroy anything for Helena.
She also knows about Helena’s incident with Leon. It has been a couple of years, and Leon has changed a lot since then. That was why she had moved on from that incident and started to date Leon.
But that was because she was just a bystander in the entire incident. For Helena, it wouldn’t be the same. She was the victim. So, there is no way she would move on from it as easily as she or any others did.
Since Helena came to Leon’s birthday party after such an incident, it was clear that she had a reason to attend.
