He was clearly saying that they were nothing more than friends and that they were the real family.

The women could clearly understand the meaning behind Vernon’s words.

Weirdly enough, Father Ford did not sense these slight hints. He felt elated that his daughter and also his son-in-law were caring and worrying for him.

His smile blossomed like a flower as he nodded, "Fine, fine. If my children would feel relieved by that, I will accompany you. But remember, you should spend more time with each other and not with me. Only if you agree to this, I will come with you."

"Fine. We accept. Our new family of three will go on a trip for the first time. I am very excited," Helena said these words as she looked at the two women from the corner of her eyes.

She said those words specifically so that they wouldn’t harbor the idea of joining their trip. Now that she said that the trip belonged to their ’family’, if they wanted to join, it would seem like they were shameless.

She hoped that they got the hint. Having them at their house on that day had already changed her mood. There is no way she would let them join their trip as well.

Anyway, he was a ’good and obedient’ boy. So, he answered Father Ford, "Father. Today is supposed to be our family event. Why did you let the Hedworths join us? Do you know how it would seem to the outsiders if the word spreads?"

"Huh?" Father Ford did not understand immediately. But after registering his words, his face darkened immediately. "Oh no. That would have been too bad. I did not think too much when they came and said that they wanted to help with the arrangements for your welcome. "Also, Father, it has been just a few days since Mother passed. If word spreads that there is a woman beside you at this time, do you know what everyone will think? Even as a friend, you should keep your distance at such times." Vernon never cared about old or young. He would say what he wanted to say. That is what he did this time as well.

As his daughter, Helena wouldn’t be able to speak a few things clearly to his face. Vernon understood this as well. So, he did not hesitate and said it directly.

They don’t know if Father Ford believed his words or not, but on the surface, he looked satisfied and smiled happily.

They changed the topic and started to chat on random topics.

Most of the conversation was between Vernon and Father Ford, as Helena was still not ready to talk to her father.

Father Ford had already understood that his daughter had talked to him earlier just because of the presence of the two outsiders.

Now that there were no outsiders anymore, she did not care about talking to him. He sighed in his heart, but he continued to talk to Vernon enthusiastically.

Vernon is a man who can talk about anything to anyone. So the topics between the two men seemed to never end.
