"But I saw you trying to stop yourself from laughing out loud." Vernon insisted that he saw, and he needed an explanation.

He knows that she felt that way as well, but he also knows that he shouldn’t let her know that he knows. So he spoke as if everything was just his idea.

Helena pursed her lips and nodded with a shrug. "Yes. But what can I do? I can’t tell them to leave, right? It would be too disrespectful."

Vernon nodded. "You are right, but I still find it too weird. I mean, think about it. When your mom was here, it would have been fine. But now, only your dad is here, and they came here while also treating this place like theirs. Did you notice how they were behaving like the hosts while we were the guests here? It was too weird."

As she expected, she saw both the women stiffen for a second before they smiled at her and nodded.

She turned to look at her father. She couldn’t see any changes in his expressions. She calmly asked him, "Dad, did you miss Mom and me a lot yesterday? Did you feel too lonely? Yesterday was the first time you were alone in the house, right?"

Father Ford frowned and raised his eyes to look at his daughter.

He knew that she was still angry at him. Under such circumstances, he couldn’t understand the meaning behind her questions.

Helena continued to say, "Then, Dad. Why don’t we do this? Let’s go on a small trip together. You, me, and Vernon. Our family of three can have some fun, and it would help you distract from depressing thoughts."

Father Ford smiled, "Your idea is good indeed. But Helena, you are now a married couple. How can I disturb you both? It is the time for you both to be together and understand each other. I won’t disturb your couple for now. We can think of a trip later."

Helena frowned and turned to look at Vernon. She wanted to know what he thought of her plan.

Vernon understood her question and nodded.

Helena smiled at him and turned to her father, "Dad, you don’t have to worry too much. We are going on our honeymoon next month. Mother said that we could go on a small trip before then. If you come, you will stay in a different room anyway. So, we wont feel disturbed. And I will feel relieved that you are by my side and I wouldn’t hav eto worry too much about you. Otherwise, even if I am with Vernon all the time, I will keep on worrying about you.

"Please consider my words and come with us, dad."

"Yes, father. Listen to Helena and come with us. I, too, wouldn’t be able to enjoy our time without worrying if you are all alone here. Even if you have friends to accompany you, how could that be the same as having your own family with you?" Vernon joined and supported Helena.
