Awakening of the Scheming Wife
Chapter 27: Froze? Yes!

Chapter 27: Froze? Yes!

Even though Vernon did not explain Helena’s concerns, Vincent understood easily.

She always drew an imaginary line with others and would never want to cross the line. It wasn’t her keeping a distance from her close ones. Instead, it was her politeness and manners, which she had learnt from her mother.

Vincent knew that very well.

But he did not know that Vernon froze when he heard his words.

Helena heard Vincent’s voice as well. She understood that Vincent would help her, and she smiled with a thankful expression.

As she was busy lamenting about her own feelings, she did not notice the slight changes in Vernon.

When he heard his brother’s words, Vernon couldn’t help but recall his words from the previous life.

"Looks like you still do not understand your wife well. She is a very smart woman.

Helena has been a good child since young.

She started to change since she married you. As her husband, you should know the best about why she changed and why she had done everything that she had done."

These were the exact words Vincent had told Vernon.

At that time, he did not understand much. But now, he slowly started to understand that even his brother knows his wife better than himself.

He did not even have to say anything and yet Vincent had already found that Helena doesn’t want to impose on them and their family. Being her husband, he had yet to know that Helena had always kept her own affairs away from his family until now.

Is that really how little he knows about his wife? He always prided in himself when he said to others that he had been the childhood friend of his wife. He has always said that there is no one who knows his wife better than him.

That was until he found that his wife had been scheming against everyone in his family in his previous life.

Once he found his wife’s scheming nature, he felt like someone had thrown him into a pool of ice.

That was when he realized that he doesn’t know his wife at all.

He already felt that he realised how much he did not understand his wife. But after listening to his brother’s words just now, he realised that it wasn’t all.

It is not that he did not understand his wife. Instead it is that he never cared to understand her.

He knew his brother. Except for his sister in law, his brother never cared about other women. Yet with a single word from him, his brother had already understood what his own wife was thinking and yet he had yet to understand her.

With all the messy thoughts running in his head, he froze in his spot and his face turned pale.

He struggled to breathe and suddenly he went into a panic attack.

Only then did Helena notice that something was wrong with him and asked him, "Vernon? What happened? Are you alright?"

Helena was scared looking at the statue-turned Vernon.

She took his hand and started to rub his palm to warm him. She felt that his palms were cold yet covered in sweat.

"Vernon, breathe. Breathe slowly. Relax. Breathe in and breathe out. Slowly but deeply. Breathe." Helena frantically rubbed his palm as she gave him some instructions.

The phone wasn’t hung up yet and thus Vincent had heard Helena’s voice clearly.

"Vernon? What happened? Are you alright? Helena? Can you hear me? What happened to Vernon?" He asked on the phone in worry.

Helena heard his voice and slowly grabbed the phone from Vernon’s hand. Vernon was so frozen that his grip on his phone was tight. She had to struggle so much to take the phone out of his hand and answer Vincent.

"Hello Brother. I don’t know what is wrong with Vernon. He looks frozen. He wouldn’t breathe either. Brother, I am scared."

With Vincent on the line, Helena shared her worries and started to cry.

"Helena, listen to me. He is alright. I am sure he is alright. Just bring him to the hospital. I will reach there immediately. Relax. You have to stay strong so you could take care of him. Do you understand?" Vincent had always treated Helena as his younger sister. So he said a few more words to console her as he also instructed on what to do.

"Yes, yes. Hospital. I forgot. Yes, I will bring him there immediately. Vernon, breathe. Breathe," She said while she also instructed the driver to send them to the hospital.

Vincent frowned. Vernon was talking to him just a second ago. What might have happened to him out of the blue? He couldn’t understand at all.

He used his other phone to make a call to the hospital and give instructions that his brother would visit him and they have to take care of him.

Once the arrangements at the hospital were done, Vincent used his phone to listen to what was happening on Vernon’s side. They did not dare to hang up the call.

On one hand, Vincent had to know what was happening to Vernon and on the other hand Helena needed Vincent’s emotional support during this time.

So without a word, they kept the call going.

From time to time, Vincent would tell Helena to calm down. Apart from that he wouldn’t say anything else as he had to let Helena take care of Vernon.

Too much distraction to her isn’t good at the moment as well.

As he was walking out of his office, he faced Jemma, who was just entering the building to meet him for lunch.

Even though Vincent did not show any emotions on his face, his wife could easily detect that something was wrong with him and asked him, "What happened?"

"It’s Vernon. Let’s go," He did not explain. He was in a hurry. So he just pulled her along to the parking space.

"I will drive," Even though Jemma did not know what was happening, she knew that he wasn’t in a condition to drive.
