Awakening of the Scheming Wife
Chapter 20: Get intimate? No!

Chapter 20: Get intimate? No!

"Since Grace is Helena’s best friend, I thought I should call her that. Am I wrong? If so, then I wouldn’t do that," Vernon cleared his throat trying to repair the mess he had just made.

It’s been ten years and he had completely forgotten the timeline in his past life. He was used to addressing Grace as his sister-in-law for ten years. So, it became a habit and he casually addressed her the same.

Now that the topic had come in front of him, he slowly recalled what had happened in the last life.

After Helena’s mother’s death, somehow her father and Grace’s mother became friends. After a while, they decided to marry each other.

Since Grace was Helena’s best friend, she had known Grace’s mother for a long time. So, she did not reject their union.

Instead she happily agreed to being Grace’s sister.

Now that he thought about it, Vernon couldn’t even remember what Grace’s last name was. For ten whole years, he heard her being mentioned as Grace Jefferey and he had forgotten about her past life experiences altogether.

It is not like he was interested in knowing about Grace’s life. So, he did not care much about her except for the few times they had family reunions and gatherings.

His words convinced everyone as they nodded casually without thinking too much.

But Helena frowned as she thought, [What is this man thinking about? There is no way he would casually make new relationships with others. He is clearly using an excuse but I can’t understand what is going on with him at all.]

Vernon coughed and cleared his throat to cover up his embarrassment. After all, Helena was right about him. He was never the type of person to casually add new relationships with others.

It took him a few months before he got used to calling Grace his sister in law in his previous life.

"Let’s go home," Vernon looked at Helena and said, trying to change the topic.

Helena once again frowned. [Why didn’t he look surprised seeing me here? Why didn’t he ask me anything about why I am with Tristan? He looks a bit too cool about this, doesn’t he?]

Since Grace was with them, Helena did not want to reveal any details of their personal problems in front of her.

She treated Grace as her best friend, yes. But still, she wouldn’t talk about the matters of their husband and wife with her. She knew when and where to draw the line.

So, she calmly smiled and nodded while she hooked her hand around his arm, "Okay."

Vernon smiled at her and greeted Tristan and Grace a goodbye.

But Grace stopped them from leaving, "since we met here today, why don’t we have a cup of coffee together?"

Helena looked at Grace and then at Vernon. She had no opinion if she wanted to be together with Grace or not. She left the decision solely to Vernon.

Vernon understood her intentions just from her gaze and smiled as he shook his head, "I am sorry but I want to go home now. Let’s have coffee some other time. It will be my treat then."

He doesn’t want to spend more time with Grace at all. He was worried that his tongue would slip once again if he stayed longer with her.

After all, going from Grace to sister-in-law took him a few months. It wouldn’t be too easy for him to go back from sister-in-law to Grace either, right?

Tristan smiled at the couple and nodded, "yes, yes. You should go home. I wouldn’t disturb the newly wed couple either. You guys have fun."

While speaking, he moved his eyes suggestively and even winked at them.

"..." Vernon and Helena were dumbfounded. No one in this world is more clearer about what was happening between the couple than Tristan. Yet he was thinking that they were in a mood to get intimate?

[Is his brain broken or what? Even after our earlier conversation, he still thinks we want to have our intimate time with each other? Seriously, it is true that the birds of a feather flock together.]

"..." Vernon did not do anything and yet he was shot just like that? What did she mean by that? Did she mean he is as stupid as Tristan?

Vernon wanted to fight her but he stopped himself. He could do nothing but give her a glare from the corner of his eyes.

Since Helena was busy glaring at Tristan, she did not notice his look.

Tristan was already scared of Helena. So when she gave him a glare, he retracted his suggestive smile and replaced it with a cheeky smile and scratched the back of his head nervously. "He he."

Grace smiled and said, "Yes. Yes. I can’t see this newly wed couple showing off their love in front of me anymore either. Seriously who would say that Vernon got a woman pregnant when they see him being so lovely with his wife. So sweet. I am really envious of you."

"..."

"..."

"..."

The three people’s lips twitched in unison when they heard her words.

Even though all the three were glaring at each other a minute earlier, they were harmonious. It was just some playful banter between the friends and nothing serious.

But the words said by Grace did not look playful no matter what.

Which good friend would remind her good friend about such a bad experience when she was happy?

She even had the gall to use the word envious?

What is she envious of?

Being happy with a husband who got another woman pregnant?

No matter how one looked at it, it was clear she was trying to draw a rift between the couple.

Vernon’s back stiffened when that matter came back in front of him. He had yet to think about how to handle that matter in front of the outsiders.

He slowly turned to look at Helena, trying to see what she was thinking.
