Awakening of the Scheming Wife -
Chapter 121: Address? Yes!
Chapter 121: Address? Yes!
"That was why, to be on the safe side, Vernon talked to Brother Vincent yesterday."
"Dream?" Jemma frowned and asked softly. Vincent looked at the young couple just the same way as his wife did.
"Yes. Those dreams are weird as well. So many random things and yet somehow they were real as well. He dreamt that that stupid Prince would kidnap you and keep you captive for a week before you were rescued. Vernon was scared for you. That was why he warned Brother Vincent yesterday. To keep you safe." Helena said seriously.
Vincent and Jemma listened to Helena and kept quiet for a while. Helena did not know what they were thinking. Anyway, what she said was hard to digest. So she did not think too much about their silence.
But out of the blue, she heard Jemma laughing.
Helena blinked her eyes, not understanding why she was laughing.
Jemma looked at her and asked, "Are you siding with your husband and defending him because I scolded him that he was weird earlier?"
"Huh?"
"Huh?"
Helena was stunned. The second sound came from Vernon, who came out from hiding and looked at his sister-in-law. He then turned to look at his wife and blinked his eyes.
"What are you talking about, Sister Jemma? We all know that he is weird. Why would I defend him?" Helena felt embarrassed as she scolded Vernon ruthlessly to defend herself.
Seeing her flustered expression and listening to her explanations, Jemma laughed again, "Fine fine. Only you can scold your husband and no one else can. I understand. I am sorry, Madam Helena."
Helena’s cheeks flushed red at Jemma’s teasing. She subconsciously explained on Vernon’s behalf but she did not expect being teased at all.
She cleared her throat and looked at Vincent and changed the topic skillfully, "Brother Vincent, what exactly happened now? If they wanted Sister Jemma, they should have taken her directly according to Vernon’s dream, right? Why did they take her sister instead now? Is it really the Prince who did this or is someone else involved now?
"After all, even if Vernon’s dreams came true most of the time, they couldn’t be completely trusted either, right?"
[This should be enough to change the topic, right? Uff, Sister Jemma is really scary. I wonder how her brain even works. I didn’t even realize that I was defending Vernon and she started teasing me saying so much nonsense. I should be careful with my words.]
Vernon looked at her and the corners of his lips curved upwards. He immediately retracted his smile and looked at his brother awaiting his answer.
Vincent pursed his lips and nodded, "You are right. But I think it should be him."
"Why?" It was Jemma who asked.
"When Vernon warned me yesterday, I arranged for more men to protect you in secret. At midnight, they called me. They said someone was lurking, trying to get closer to our house. Maybe the intruders sensed the men’s presence but they did not dare to take any action and everyone left quietly." Vincent explained what had happened the night before when Jemma was still sleeping.
Jemma frowned as she did not know that something huge had been happening around her and she had no idea at all.
If Vincent had not said everything now, she would never have known about this.
Vernon, on the other hand, had his own concerns as he frowned and asked, "So, they really tried? I really hoped it was just a dream and nothing of that sort would happen."
He knew it wasn’t a dream. But he knows that since his rebirth, so many things have changed. So, he really hoped that the Seventh Prince’s ideas about his sister-in-law and his thoughts of kidnapping her would change. But sadly, the reality did not align with his hopes.
Vincent saw his mood falter and patted his shoulder.
Vernon took a deep breath and gave a look at his brother.
Vincent nodded and continued speaking, "I thought the matter would end yesterday. Or he might try on Jemma again later. But we got a call from my in-laws in the morning. They said that someone kidnapped their young daughter and were asking for ransom."
"Ransom? If it is money, it should be easy, right?" Vernon tried to be hopeful once again and asked. "How much do they want? Let’s just throw some money at them and once we get her, we can plan something about how to deal with them."
Vincent sighed. Vernon frowned at his reaction. Vincent shook his head, "It is not as simple as that. They want money, yes. It really isn’t a big deal for us to give that money. But their demand did not end there yet."
Vernon frowned. From Vincent’s earlier words about asking Jemma in place of her sister, he could already understand what the kidnappers had demanded but he waited for Vincent to finish his words patiently.
They should have all the details as clearly as possible before thinking of a solution to the problem.
"They wanted me to bring the money to them. All alone, with no one by my side." Seeing that Vincent couldn’t bring himself to speak up, Jemma decided to be the one to speak.
Vernon and Helena looked at each other. They frowned and looked back at Jemma and then at Vincent.
Vernon did not say anything. He did not know what to say.
Helena asked, "Are those the the exact words they said?"
Vincent and Jemma looked at each other. The younger couple noticed a silent conversation filled with determination in their eyes.
They did not understand what they were signaling each other about.
Before they could even think further, Jemma said in a hurry, "That was the gist of it. Even if it wasn’t what they said exactly, it was clear that they wanted me to bring the money."
Vincent looked at his wife and then at the younger couple and nodded, agreeing to his wife’s words.
Vernon and Helena did not think much into their actions anymore and pursed their lips.
Vernon asked, "So, what are we doing? Do you have any plan, Brother?"
Vincent sat and crossed his legs before asking Vernon, "Do you have any clues about the place she might be? What did Jemma’s surroundings look like in your dream? If you give us any clues, we might find the place and try rescuing her ourselves."
Since Vincent thought that everything was nothing but Vernon’s dream, he thought that he ’saw’ everything but nothing more.
There is no way he would know the address of a place he sees in his dream, right? So, he tried to find the clues from what Vernon ’saw’ in his dream.
Vernon blinked his eyes. At first he did not understand why his brother was asking for the address in such a roundabout way.
He blinked his eyes and asked him directly, "You mean you want the address? Sure!" He casually spoke about the address.
In his previous life, they had searched for Jemma for day and night for so many days before they found the location where she was captured. No matter how many years passed by, he would never forget the address and the location.
He casually and seriously iterated the address to the location to the dot.
Everyone blinked their eyes in shock as they looked at Vernon.
Their thoughts were completely different from that of Vernon’s.
To Vernon, he was proud of remembering the address of a location he had visited around ten years ago.
But to the others, it was very weird that he knew the precise ’address’ and not just ’location’ to the place he had seen in his dream.
"Why are you all looking at me like that? Did I miss something? Did I mention the pincode? I think I did, right?" Vernon was confused by their looks and asked.
Everyone immediately shook their heads in unison like a bunch of rattle drums trying to soothe a child, "Nothing. Nothing."
Vernon did not think much and said, "But Brother, everything that had happened in my dream was when Sister-in-law was kidnapped. We can’t be sure if her sister was kept in the same place or not. We have to be careful."
Vincent pursed his lips and nodded, "I understand. Don’t worry."
Jemma suddenly said from the side, "I still think this is risky. I think it would be better if I just go to the place they tell me."
"Are you mad? Why should you risk your life for no reason? We should try the method where you wouldn’t be at risk." Vincent scolded her but his voice was filled with a layer of helplessness.
What could he do? His wife is like a bulldozer. Going forward without thinking about the consequences.
"Risk? I think they should be the ones to worry about the risk. I can handle this matter. You should let me go," Jemma looked at Vincent in seriousness when she said the last sentence.
Vincent sighed.
Helena blinked her eyes. She did not say a word.
[I always heard from Vernon that Sister Jemma was strong and she could handle a bunch of hooligans all by herself. But I never saw it with my own eyes. Is she really that strong? But then again, no matter how strong she is, is she strong enough to deal with that Seventh Prince’s people? He looked scary at first sight. I don’t know what type of ruthless people work under such a man. If Sister Jemma goes there all by herself, will she be fine?]
