Chapter 103: Scold? Yes! 4
"For now, I hope you know not to speak casually in front of everyone. Leave the room. I still have something to say to your father."
Faye nodded her head. She did not look at her father and calmly left the room with her head hung low.
Minister Morris nervously adjusted his collar and cleared his throat, "Ehem. Ummm, honey? What do you want to tell me?"
Madam Morris raised her eyes and looked at him. The earlier strictness when she faced her daughter had long vanished.
Now in her eyes was the seriousness and anger she had when she faced her husband when she was angry with him.
He was scared of her anger the most.
She did not reply. She just continued looking at him.
This scared him even more than when she usually scolded him. "Umm, Honey. Scold me if you are angry. Don’t keep your emotions to yourself, okay?"
Madam Morris scoffed and chuckled, "Scold you? Do you really think that I am your guardian and you are my child that I want to scold you? You are a fully grown man who is very capable of making your own decisions. I don’t want to get involved in your decisions like I do with my daughter’s."
"Uhh..." Minister Morris was speechless. ’If that’s what you think, then why did you say all those words in front of our daughter to me earlier?’
If he weren’t scared of his wife, he would have asked her the question, but sadly, he did not dare to. He could just swallow and keep his thoughts to himself like a pitiful puppy.
"You think that I don’t know what you are thinking?" She asked him when she saw his expression. Being married to him for more than a couple of decades, how could she not understand what was going on in that head of his with a look on his face?
"Umm..." He did not dare to say a word and just hummed uncomfortably.
She sighed looking at his expression. "Stop doing that."
"What did I do?"
"Acting like a little puppy who was suffering from wrong accusations. You should act your age."
"Ummm..."
She sighed again. "Let’s talk later at home?"
"If you are no longer angry with me, we can do anything you want." He smiled at him. He did not mind getting scolded or talking about the issue later. No matter what, he doesn’t like his wife being angry with him.
Madam Morris rubbed her temples. She stood up and looked at him, "Why did you do that to Helena?"
"Didn’t I already explain what she said about you?"
"Did she really talk about me? Helena, that girl, respects me so much. Whenever she looks at me, the admiring gaze in her eyes is so brilliant that it would sometimes even blind my eyes. Do you really think that such a girl would ever insult me?" Madam Morris knows how much Helena liked her and respected her.
Minister Morris lowered his head. He sighed, "You are right. She would never insult you. But when I heard that she said such words, I couldn’t contain my anger and thought of teaching her a good lesson. I didn’t do anything extreme. I just made her miss a meeting. Just a little postponed. That’s all. She did not suffer much because of that. But what did she do? What she did to you is not acceptable at all."
"Is that so? Why? What did she do to me? She did the same to me as what you did to her. She made me miss a meeting. Just a little postponed. That’s all." She even repeated his exact words to explain the situation.
"What? How can you say that? Your matter is clearly more important than what she wanted. How can you compare these two matters?" Minister Morris frowned and did not agree to her words at all.
"Why?"
"What do you mean by ’why’?"
"Why is my matter more important than hers?" She asked him.
"Because yours is..."
"Mine is what? Mine is beneficial for my work, so is it important? And since it was her personal matter, was hers not important? Since when did you start prioritizing work over family?" She asked him.
"What? You are twisting my words."
"Let me ask you this. If you have an important meeting and you got a call that something happened to me. What would you do? Attend the meeting or come to me?" She asked.
"What sort of a question is that?"
"Answer me."
"Of course I will come to you." He said without hesitation.
"Why? Your meeting is clearly more important. You could just send someone to help me. Why do you have to cancel your meeting?" She asked again.
"Of course, you are more important. Since when is my meeting more important than you? Don’t speak nonsense like that anymore." He said sternly. Now it was he scolding her, but she did not mind.
She just smiled and shook her head.
"Just like you, Helena’s matter is more important. The fact that she did not let your stupid punishment go but wanted to take revenge showed how much she felt hurt. Why exactly do you think she would get hurt and did not mind going against you? Why exactly do you think she went through all the hassle to take her revenge?"
"What do you mean?" Minister Morris frowned. He understood that she was saying something about Helena that he did not notice before, but he still did not understand what it was.
"What I mean is whatever she wanted to do and you stopped her has something to do with her mother."
Minister Morris froze. His mind raced, and he slowly seemed to understand that his wife was right.
"I know that her meeting was important to her but I did not think it would involve her mother."
"If not her mother, Helena would never go to such extreme lengths. Her love for her mother... we all know it."
