Avery's Game Of Revenge -
Chapter 61: Her Fucking Revenge.
Chapter 61: Her Fucking Revenge.
"That’s because he knows who you used to be. Avery McCAllum," Archie deadpanned, like it was an obvious answer she should have figured out.
’That’s true,’ Avery figured. After all, Neil was the one who stayed with her all through that month she was away from the country. But if he knew then...
"Does that mean Jodi knows too?" she asked. Her head jerked up from the TV channel she had just tuned in on. Nothing interesting showing on there that could have prompted Leroy’s call just now.
"Why would she? Neil knew Avery McCAllum and now he knows she has switched to being Ava Donovan. You don’t expect me to erase his memories of when he knew Avery, do you?" When she shook her head, a proud smile started to form on his lips. "Wonderful. It would have been hard work trying to erase your memories too."
"My memories? What do my they have to do with this?" Avery questioned.
"Erasing Neil’s means I have to do the same for you too," he replied. At the evident confusion and questions in her eyes, he explained, "Ava, you used to know Avery and still carry her pain. And that’s the only reason I am allowing you to take your time to revenge her before settling down into your position as Ava Donovan and my wife."
Avery could hear the seriousness in his tone and she knew this was not something she should argue about. She was already grateful he was not asking her to do something ridiculous yet—of which she was sure Archie had many ideas— in the name of being his wife. After all, she hadn’t regarded him as her enemy all these years, just for nothing.
She tore her eyes from his distracting face and switched channels with the remote in her hand, her eyes widening in shock when she saw her face being displayed on the TV screen. Well...her faces. Her with black hair as Avery McCAllum on the left side and with brown hair as Ava Donovan on the right side, and the reporter in the middle.
She recognized her, and she did no good job in hiding that fact.
"Elena? What is she doing?!" she asked out loud.
"Showing your face to the world," Archie replied.
"Showing my face—Did you plan this, Archie?"
He gave a curt nod.
"Good thing Neil suggested not revealing that you are my wife," he stated.
"Why?" Avery asked, her lips thinning out in...was it displeasure? She had no idea, but she knew this was not her feeling good. But she wasn’t angry yet. Maybe curious then, "Why did you plan it? And without letting me know?"
"Trust me, Ava, I didn’t even want to. But you took steps without letting me know so I had no choice but to teach you a lesson."
Avery’s brows pulled into a frown and she turned to face him, ignoring the voice droning out of the TV. She could recognize that tone he was using. The gentle and ’I did it because of you’ kind of voice. It was the tone he used on that night he killed six men to save her, and during many other incidents that came after that, incidents she didn’t want to remember.
"And what step did I take without informing you, Archie? Befriending Charlotte Ross? Accepting Alice’s offer to join her and her friends to the nightclub? Taking the offer to work as part of the cast of Broken Hearts? Which of them?!" she asked, her words coming out in a rush.
Avery would be lying if she said she wasn’t expected this; people finding out that she was Avery McCAllum and her pictures circulating the internet, but with her luck she had these past few days, she had thought she could manage. At least until Broken Hearts concluded shooting.
At the manner with which excitement and happiness had coursed through her blood at the fear on Valentina’s face earlier that day, she would hate it if she had to be dropped from the cast members and lost her chance at fucking Valentina up a few more times all because of this news. And to think that Archie caused it because she didn’t tell him of one step she took?!
She glowered in fury, trying her best to tamp down her anger which did not seem to be affecting him.
"Maybe if you added appearing before your damned cousin without protection, you’d get your answer," he responded, unfazed. The only way Avery could tell he knew she was angry was because he adjusted his glasses.
"My damned—Valentina? Why do I need to be protected before seeing her when she already thinks I’m dead?"
"How innocent," Archie taunted, his expression hardening. "She doesn’t think so, Ava. She knows Avery McCAllum is dead. But you underestimate the power of a dumb person. What if she didn’t think of informing her parents first and just hired someone to ’take care’ of you the moment you left the agency?"
Avery laughed, shaking her head slowly.
"She wouldn’t have. And even if she had..." she trailed off, feeling a wave of emotions engulf her.
It was like a pair of scorching hot hands were creeping up her face and her grip of reality starting to slip out of her hands. Avery knew this feeling was not normal.
It had only happened once, when she was out of the country and under the protection of Archibald’s doctors. It was why she had called herself a crazy person then and now—
She blurted out, "I am Avery. Avery McCAllum...And—And I have a brother, Arthur and...a sister. Yeah—i—i have a sister. Emma McCAllum...and I am Avery and this...this is my fucking revenge to take! Not yours! I don’t need to inform you of every steps I take because it is mine! My work to do...and...and my revenge to take! It’s my fucking revenge to take!"
As she yelled, her voice growing louder with each word she said, Archie simply stood before her. He watched as she threw the remote control across the room to hit the wall, as she pulled out the hair clip that was holding her hair up and broke it within her palm.
"Fuck you!" she spat.
