Chapter 45: Donovan.

Benedict had a grim look on his face when he replied, "Aphrodisiac."

"You’re joking," Archie replied, his words sounding more of a statement than a question.

Benedict retorted, "I am not. I ordered just a little bit in all of the drinks here so it makes the deed much more enjoyable. Who knew you guys would refuse women, huh? It’s not my fault here."

"You still have the guts to speak?" As Archie’s eyes narrowed into slits, the temperature in the room decreased to the barest minimum.

Benedict, noticing that, was quick to know he just made a stupid mistake. "I’m sorry," he apologized immediately. "You have to forgive me this one time and get on your way home. I hope your respective partners are home because the effect of that isn’t dying out anytime soon."

"Should I be thanking you now for the wonderful advice?"

Under the piercing gaze of the man before him, Benedict sat up straight and shook his head vigorously.

"What I mean is, I will grant your request concerning the girl you mentioned," he corrected. "What was the name again? Anyways, I’d keep this blunder in mind and help with the favor you asked, without questions."

"And that’s enough to get me to forgive you?" Archie seethed.

Before Benedict could answer him, the door to the private room opened and a group of three men walked in, each of them holding a glass of wine each.

As they settled into the empty spaces on the long couch, Benedict leaned forward and lowered his voice to speak. "Let’s leave this until later, Arch. Promise! I will tender an appropriate apology early tomorrow."

"You also drugged these men," Neil pointed out, his voice not in any way inferior to Archie’s hostile voice from earlier.

"I didn’t drug them! They are in on this and you can ask them yourself if you don’t believe me. I told you adding it only makes the deed more enjoyable, didn’t I?"

Not bothering to reply him, Neil simply cast one last glare at Benedict as he stood up alongside Archie.

"I will keep in touch," he stated.

"No qualms," Benedict shrugged nonchalantly. "The girls will be here soon, you should leave now if you are leaving."

"We are not," Archie spoke up. He turned to Neil, "You should leave if you want to. But none of the others here will be leaving."

His words elicited bouts of laughter from the rest of the men and confusion from Neil.

"You will...stay?" the latter asked, "Miss Av—"

"I am staying, Neil. Alone with this fuckers and rest assured, no women will be allowed in here," Archie replied.

"You mean...?"

"Awfully slow for my assistant, aren’t you? Or is the right word ...nice? Either way, I will be enduring the shit their drug pulled and they will be doing the same, under my watchful eyes, of course. If it becomes so unbearable they wanna fuck your friends, then I won’t hold them back. But I, will be staying in here with every single one of them for the next five hours," Archie declared. "Are you leaving, Neil?"

"I am!" Neil exclaimed. Though he knew he would have to fight the effects of this at home, except a miracle occured and Jodi...Nah, she would never agree except in his dreams. But still, he could not let the effects of the drug completely kick in before leaving here. He lacked the self control Archibald had, and would never attempt to attain it.

Picking up his car key that had been lying on the table, he headed towards the door. He was halfway there when the door was pushed open and the chattering of women flitted in, before the women themselves followed.

"Brotherrrrr! I’m here with my friends." Alice Sherman was the first to step in and sensing the tense atmosphere in the room immediately, she halted in her steps.

"Donovan," she gasped, alerting all of the girls behind her except Avery and Jodi.

~ Few Minutes Ago~

One by one, a fleet of cars pulled up beside Avery, surrounding her in less than ten seconds. She blinked, letting her guards up immediately as she waited for whoever was in the cars to alight. The doors of the one right in front of her opened and Alice alighted.

"Hey Ava! You got here early," she waved.

Letting out a loud sigh of relief, Avery returned the wave. "I live not too far from here so I was able to leave home early."

Her eyes widening in shock, Alice’s mouth rounded into an O, unable to hide her surprise.

"Oh really? If you live not far from this building then you must be a catch," she noted. Pausing for not more than a second, she added in a downcast voice, "Even I failed to get an apartment close to this place. Where’s your car by the way?"

"My car? I don’t have one," Avery replied immediately.

"You don’t— Then why are you in the garage?"

"Yeah, I am uh... waiting for my friend here. She’s parking her car somewhere around," Avery lied, remembering Jodi’s words from an hour ago when they were in the dressing room.

"You will keep it a secret that you are Mr. Donovan’s wife, won’t you?" she had asked.

"I have no intention of letting anyone know apart from those that are already aware. Why do you ask though?"

"The Sherman family own an entertainment agency and Alice is their No.1 artist there. You don’t need a soothsayer to tell you why."

"If it’s because of her family background, you mean she has no acting skills?" Avery asked.

"She’s more into modelling, I’d say. Her acting? Watch a few of her movies and you’ll see. Anyways, if she finds out your relationship with Mr Donovan, there’s a tendency she would want to be—"

"Friends with me?" Avery chimed in. "Don’t worry, I won’t participate in a losing game. And I’m also not ready to be in the spotlight. For now, she only seems to be interested in the give and take relationship and I’ll try my best to keep it at that."

Jodi nodded in approval. Somehow, she was starting to feel cautious of other people whenever she was with Ava. Like she had to protect the latter from them...and she could not help it.

"Great!" she smiled. "Now let’s choose some sexy dresses that will surely rival that of Alice’s and her friends!"
