Archie stared at her, his mind racing. She was serious. Or at least, as serious as someone still fighting off the effects of a sedative could be.
She continued, her words slightly slurred but determined. "It’ll be legal in every way. You’ll add me to your corporation. I will add you to mine. We’ll share everything equally... just like any other married couple out there."
The words almost made him burst out in laughter, and he would have if only the image forming in his mind because of them would leave.
The image that wasn’t in any way funny.
Avery... as his wife.
Avery in a wedding gown, walking down an aisle towards him and looking extraordinarily angelic.
Avery’s face being the first thing he saw every morning, and the last he saw every night.
Him being able to fully discard the restrain he’d put on himself, and explore his obsession over her to its full extent in such a way that when he was done, she’d have at least half of the feelings he had towards her, to him.
The more he thought about it, the more the absurdity of the idea was somehow becoming more appealing.
"You don’t know what you’re saying," he muttered, finally pulling himself from the thoughts.
"I do," she insisted. Then, as if the effort of speaking had drained her, she whimpered, her body sagging slightly against his.
Archie caught her, tilting her face up. Her pupils were still dilated, her skin flushed. The drug was still in her system. He exhaled sharply. "I won’t marry you, Angel. You have a boyfriend."
Shaking her head, Avery’s fingers tightened in his shirt. "No. I broke up with him earlier. I don’t like him. Don’t love him either. I don’t even want him." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "You’re the one I want to marry."
"You broke up with him? Drank yourself to stupor? And want to use me as a rebound?"
"Not when you are the reason I broke up with him," she retorted.
Archie’s heart slammed against his ribs.
What the hell?
Was he dreaming?
He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. He knew he should ask more questions—why she broke up with her boyfriend, if that was why she was at the club drinking, whether she truly meant what she was saying. But deep down, he didn’t want to.
Because he needed everything she’d just said to be true.
She had turned a complete 180 degree from how she used to treat him, and he wasn’t in a hurry to go back to the way things were. Right now, he needed her just as much as she needed him.
His hand slid up her thighs, his voice rough as he murmured, "I can help you find relief."
He was about to add a condition—some last attempt at reason—but Avery cut him off, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "You will marry me?! Where are we going? I don’t need a dress, a ring, just you... there."
Archie stared at her, momentarily stunned by the sudden shift in her mood. If this kept up, he might actually forget she ever hated him at all.
He exhaled, forcing himself to stay focused. "But I won’t marry you. Just because you broke up with your boyfriend doesn’t mean—"
"It does!" Avery insisted, her voice still slurred but fierce.
Archie sighed. "You’ll regret this."
She leaned closer, her breath warm against his lips. "Do you want to marry me or not?"
His eyes narrowed. "What do you think?"
She smiled drowsily. "Then let’s do it. If I end up wanting a divorce, I’ll propose it. And if you do, you will." She paused, then added, "Whoever asks for the divorce loses half their shares in the company."
Archie studied her, surprised by the terms. She was serious.
She lowered her eyes, sliding her hand down his bare chest. "That’s just to show how certain I am that this is what i want."
Catching her wrist before she could get down to his lower body, he stopped her.
"Know what? If you want sex, we can do it right here and now. But marriage isn’t—"
"It’s just as important," she interrupted.
Archie hesitated. "Ava..."
She perked up. "Also, how about I change my name to Ava!"
Archie blinked. "The fuck?" Now he was sure something was seriously off, but even so, he couldn’t bring himself to pull away.
She grinned. "I love what you call me. And since I’m taking your last name, I want to change my first name too."
Archie opened his mouth to agree, but then Arthur’s face flashed in his mind. He inhaled sharply, making one last attempt to think rationally. "If you really remember us, then can you tell me what happened the first day we met?"
Avery opened her mouth to answer, but instead of words, a desperate whimper escaped her as she slumped against him. Her voice was barely a whisper. "Just... help me... I can’t wait... anymore."
And that was all it took.
Archie leaned down, capturing her lips in a searing kiss as she responded with aggressive need. His hands worked quickly, peeling her out of her dress, revealing the glorious sight beneath.
This wasn’t where he had imagined this happening. Not in the front seat of his car, not with her still half-drugged, not without the slow, deliberate seduction he had fantasized about for years.
But it would have to do.
After this, they would get her name changed.
They would get married.
And then they would go home.
Their home.
A shit eating grin descending on his face, he slid down his trousers and lifted her up slightly, preparing to work her to her first orgasm. But Avery, being as impatient as she’d been all night, firmly pushed his hand to her shoulders and impaled herself on his cock.
"Archie," she gasped, drawing in a ragged inhale.

The morning light filtered through the curtains a few hours later, casting a soft glow over the room.
But Archie was totally oblivious, sitting on the edge of the bed, his gaze fixed on the woman in his bed as she slept.
Avery.
He studied every detail—her lips slightly swollen from their aggressive kisses through the night, her dark hair tangled against the pillow, the pale curve of her cheek, and the purplish hickeys scattered along her neck. His eyes trailed lower, catching sight of more evidence of last night’s passion before he cautioned and forced himself to look away, pulling the duvet up to cover her properly.
His attention shifted to the documents on the bedside table—her name change paperwork... and their marriage certificate.
