Avery's Game Of Revenge
Chapter 127: You Have A Crush On Arch?!

Chapter 127: You Have A Crush On Arch?!

Jodi blinked, "Of course, I do have one. What do you think you are to me? A wallet?"

Neil waved the words off with one flick of his hand.

"Apparently, I’m fake. You just said that now," he pointed out. "Do you have a real one? Doesn’t necessarily have to be your boyfriend yet. Maybe you’re still in the talking stage? He’s still trying to woo you? Or you just have a crush on him without his knowledge... Is there anyone like that?"

"Why? Why would you want to know that?"

"Is it Salvador? The one who was in that picture with you. The one you wore a bikini in?"

Jodi’s eyes widened at the absurdity of his assumptions. "Of course not, I don’t like Stuart. I don’t even see or talk to him when we’re not on set. Calm down, Neil, what is going on?"

"Then give me a name."

"A name? Of—"

"Don’t act fucking ignorant, Jo. If Stuart isn’t the one you like, then there has to be someone else. What’s his name? Just give me a last name and his job..."

"Donovan, that’s his last name..." Jodi trailed off.

Neil’s eyes widened.

"You have a crush on Arch?! That’s why you thought he was lying about his marriage—"

"And he works as the personal assistant to the chairman of the board of a multinational corporation," Jodi concluded with a tone of finality in her voice.

Neil’s jaws dropped in astonishment. "What?!"

Jodi turned away from him, staring straight into the distance.

"I already told you what you wanted to hear," she murmured.

"Is this a joke, Jodi?"

"It’s not a joke, Neil, and please refrain from mentioning this again. What were we even saying before you started this?" Raking her hand through her hair, Jodi didn’t wait for his response before changing the topic abruptly, "Oh, yeah, I planned to tell you this later but since we have time now, let’s go for it." She paused for a slight second, as if rethinking her decision. "This time around, you can mention what I want to tell you to Mr Donovan. But do it in a sensible way, please."

Neil stared at her wordlessly for the next few seconds, only backing down when he saw that her gaze remained unrelenting.

"Why won’t you just tell him yourself?" he sighed.

"Simple answer, because I can’t." Jodi rolled her eyes. "So once again, it’s about Ava. And I’m only saying it because Mr Donovan loves her and deserves to know this."

"Is she in danger?"

"That’s the funny thing. She could be. I can’t trust that bitch of a girl." Her incensed cuss caused Neil to arch his brows but he didn’t say anything and waited patiently for her to continue. "So, this happened once or twice, while you and Mr Donovan were abroad, and sometimes while we were on set, Ava would look so angry. We could be discussing a casual topic or talking about one of our colleague, the one I called a stupid bitch, and Ava’s demeanor would instantly transform. Like she’s angry and... Let me say, a murderous aura would be literally oozing from her. Though that’s concerning, I think it’s because she misses Mr Donovan, she hasn’t been like that since he returned—at least she wasn’t like that this morning."

"If I get you right," Neil tilted his head slightly in confusion, "You want me to tell Arch that his wife experienced intense mood swings because she missed him?"

Jodi shook her head, "No, I’m getting to the good part. So there’s this particular teammate that annoys her and keeps doing everything to get on her nerves, but Ava refuses to mention it to Mr Donovan. Before this morning, she never bothered to challenge or address the issue with this person. I know it should be none of my business but Ava is my friend. At least I see her as that now. And I find it weird that she’s just letting it go. Even I— with no power and only back up in form of an old father back in the countryside— won’t take it if it were done to me."

"You have me as back up," Neil corrected her, his eyes growing serious as he continued, "What’s the name of this particular cast mate, by the way?"

"Valentina McCAllum. You know her, right? She’s the cousin of one of your friends. The one that..."

"Yeah, I know Arthur."

Jodi’s brows raised in unmasked suspicions.

"Well, I was almost thinking you have forgotten him, seeing as you and Mr Donovan didn’t even grieve after hearing the news of his death. You also haven’t mentioned how Ava looks damn similar to his sister, Avery."

Neil released a low sigh. "I was only friends with Arthur because of Arch. And the two of the got into a fight on the night before the incident with Arthur’s family; I think that should answer your questions on why we didn’t grieve him."

"Oh... Maybe. Still doesn’t answer all my questions but let’s leave it at that for now, I guess."

Lips stretching into a small smile, Neil nodded.

"Cool. I will pass across the message like you said so don’t worry," he reassured, "Now that that’s out of the way, how about we go back to talking about your crush? You said you—"

"Get off the matter, Neil. Didn’t you say we were on a data and that it should be perfect?"

"But—" Neil tried to argue.

Jodi cut him off, a murderous tone underlying her voice, "Broach that topic again and I’ll fire off a message to Avery that we’re done with the date and she can come meet me. Then watch as your boss orders that you get your ass back to work."

With that sharp threat hanging over his head, Neil had no choice but to clamp his mouth shut and redirect his attention back to driving out of the random garage they were currently in. His only consolation was that the tension in the car when they got in at the airport, had completely dissipated and his girlfriend no longer had a frown on her face.
