Chapter 948: The Primordial

Vale studied the three figures before him.

Their robes had insignias he recognized immediately—the twelve symbols of the Council of the Twelve Paths.

Each of them represented a distinct Arcane Path, the twelve fundamental Arts that governed the understanding of magic or mysticism in this world.

The elder who had spoken first, had the emblem of the Rune Arts, while the dark-haired woman beside him carried the mark of Elemental Arts. As for the last figure, he was actually associated with Combat Arts, the least one Vale expected to be present here.

In any case, their appearance here meant something significant.

After all, according to the Arcane Bureau’s reports, the Council of the Twelve Path seemed to have been disbanded for over three decades after not being able to hear any news related to them.

However, it seemed that they were truly bothered by something that made them move again.

’Interesting...’ Vale thought as he recalled any information related to them from the Bureau’s reports.

Apparently, even if there were important matters, this council wouldn’t show up at all and only give commands from the shadows. They rarely gathered in person, and when they did, it was only for matters that threatened the balance of the world.

’But they still didn’t show their presence during the Invasion... Or did they?’ Vale mused as he realized that he couldn’t have monitored all the movements of the Arcane Factions after all.

Vale then took a seat across from them and his expression was impassive. "So, what does the Council of the Twelve Paths want from me?"

The Rune Arts Elder smiled after seeing that the Shadow Immortal weren’t looking down on them although they weren’t at an equal level.

Their respect for the immortal grew even more because of this simple action.

"It is not what we want from you, Shadow Immortal. It is what we must warn you about."

The Elemental Arts Practitioner spoke next. "We have investigated the warning you’ve given to us... Indeed, we found a reason to believe that one of the Lost Arcane Paths is set to return. Specifically, the Chaos Arts."

A flicker of intrigue crossed Vale’s face.

He indeed warned everybody through various means about their return.

The threat from other Realms could be blocked by the Will of the Realm once it recovered. It was just a matter of time.

However, since the Chaos Arts Practitioners seemed to have originated in this world or at the very least, they are connected to the development of this world, the Will of the Realm seemed to be incapable of stopping them from reentering this realm.

If the information he received about the Primordial Chaos Arts was true, then they would truly be in trouble once they arrived.

Among the lost Arcane Paths, Chaos was the most enigmatic. Unfortunately, even with all his accumulated knowledge, his understanding of Chaos was limited.

The only thing he was certain of was that Primordial Chaos Practitioners had either been sealed away or left this realm voluntarily.

And if they were to return... it would be a disaster.

"So you’ve investigated, huh..." Vale murmured as his fingers tapped lightly on the armrest of his chair. "What do you know?"

The Elemental Arts woman answered. "We have recently uncovered an ancient prophecy—one that aligns with a vision seen by one of our council members."

Vale looked at her with interest... "A vision?"

The man from the Combat Arts, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke.

"Not just any vision. A foresight of certainty. One of our own has the rarest form of clairvoyance—the kind that cannot be avoided, no matter how much one struggles against fate. We had barely acted during the Invasion since we had been informed that a person with the strongest fate would intervene..."

Vale exhaled slowly as he believed that the man was referring to him. Well, he knew that he was the one who played the most important role during that invasion.

"So... What does this prophecy say?"

The Rune Elder unfolded an old parchment and read it to him.

"When the Black Sun rises and the Three Worlds align, the shackles of Chaos shall break.

A King forgotten by time shall descend upon the realm, wielding a power beyond fate itself.

The pillars of the Arcane shall shake, and order shall crumble, for Chaos does not return in silence—it returns with the storm."

Vale frowned as soon as he heard this poetic prophecy...

The Elemental Arts woman noticed Vale’s frown and added.

"The one known as Xal’Zyrath, the Chaos Sovereign, is prophesied to return in less than ten years. He should’ve been dead in the records so perhaps, this name can be inherited."

Vale sighed.

It seemed that the real reason he had arrived in this world was to stop its destruction.

"Ten years, huh..."

He then tried to find any records regarding Xal’Zyrath and to his surprise, this name seemed to be an evil figure in the Church of the Foretune Goddess’ Codex!

According to the Codex of the church, the goddess had sealed this blasphemous figure and should’ve died after being tormented!

Vale’s expression darkened. "If you have foreseen his return, why have you not taken action?"

The woman sighed. "Because we do not know where he is sealed or where they would appear. The records are unclear. His prison could be in this realm... or beyond it. We even think that he wasn’t sealed but exiled to another realm."

Vale nodded since this reasoning fitted well.

The Rune Elder added, "However, we believe that the Three Paragons’ Artifacts are connected to it."

Vale’s eyes squinted. "The sword, the timepiece, and the ring..."

He didn’t expect the Paragons to be involved once again. He immediately asked them why they were connected but these people couldn’t give him a clear answer.

They could only tell that the Paragons seemed to be attempting to obtain the power of the Primordial Chaos.

"Some believed that they had formed a deal with the Primordial Chaos... We weren’t sure what deal it was but they were viewed as traitors of this realm so it’s not hard to imagine."

Vale could only sigh at this. In any case, his plan didn’t change and he would still deal with the Primordial Chaos Practitioners.

However, now that he knew the name of his enemy, he felt that he was no longer blind as he finally had an idea about the identity of his enemy.

"We still have ten years or maybe even less... We should be fine..." Vale thought that the development of the Arcane Spells, Potions, and Mystical Artifacts had already advanced so much in just a few years.

If they were given more, he was confident that when those ancient beings arrived, they would be overwhelmed by their Arcane Technology!
