Chapter 947: The Council

Vale stood at the very edge of the Abyssal Rift’s central area, where reality itself seemed to be falling apart.

However, Vale could also sense that this Realm itself was trying to fix the rift...

’Is it the Will of the Realm working?’ Vale mused. He actually found this to be good news.

Based on his understanding, the Will of the Realm was basically an invisible existence that only had one job, it was to protect the balance of this Human Realm.

He had, of course, vaguely felt its presence after possessing Divinity of his own.

In any case, he still continued to do what he originally planned to accomplish.

His Divine Sense stretched outward, analyzing the chaotic energy that formed these rifts.

The deeper he probed, the more he realized the incredible complexity of the instability.

This was not just lingering Abyssal Rift! It felt something more. Something alive or being controlled!

’Weird... What in the world is going on here?’ Vale muttered to himself.

He raised his hand and channeled his Divinity, attempting to impose stability upon the unstable or broken space.

Just like that, his Shadow Divinity extended from his fingers, moving through the fractures in the air. Then, he started controlling them and formed them like stitches across a wound.

For a moment, the Rift resisted. Then, it began to respond, the distortion moved as if the Will of the Realm was helping him...

But just as Vale felt a small success, the entire region trembled violently. The ground beneath him cracked, as strong energy of space erupted from his spot as if aiming to kill him.

Even the sky above seemed to have warped the light, and for the first time, Vale sensed something new—something reaching back from the other side of the rift.

A presence.

Vale’s eyes narrowed.

’This is worse than I thought. If he continued stabilizing the region in this manner, he might inadvertently worsen the situation considering there was something lurking beyond the rift.

He had assumed the rift was just an unstable scar left by the failed Abyss Invasion...

But now, it seemed more like a door—one that something had been waiting to force open again.

’Is this related to the Chaos Arts Practitioners?’ Vale mused.

He suddenly had a feeling that if he kept pressing forward, he wouldn’t be closing the rift. He’d be finishing the job these unknown invaders started.

With a sharp flick of his wrist, he withdrew his energy, allowing the swirling chaos to settle back into its natural, volatile state.

Just like that, the tremors stopped. Even the cracks in the earth that had formed beneath him had slowly sealed themselves.

Nonetheless, the rift itself remained...

He exhaled slowly.

"So, even an Immortal can’t mend this."

Behind him, the Elemental Arts Arcanists had been observing from a distance, holding their breath as they watched Vale’s efforts.

Now, seeing him step away, they hesitated. Ron, the senior among them, took a cautious step forward.

"Shadow Immortal... what did you discover?"

Vale turned his head slightly.

"This rift isn’t just a wound from the previous invasion, it’s connected to something else. If I force it closed improperly, it could trigger a full-scale spatial collapse, or worse, give whatever is waiting on the other side a chance to force it open."

The red-haired Arcanist swallowed. "You mean... there’s still something beyond this rift? Isn’t this really dangerous? We have to do something about it!"

Vale didn’t answer immediately. He cast one last glance at the unstable vortex of shifting energies before speaking.

"This place must remain untouched," he finally said. "None of you are to conduct further experiments here. The risk is too great. If you want to study, do it at the edges of this rift"

Ron and the others exchanged glances before nodding in understanding.

They weren’t about to question the judgment of a True Immortal.

Satisfied with their reaction, Vale turned away to leave.

Darkness started to cover him and in the next instant, he vanished, leaving behind only a lingering shadow from where he stood...

After some time, Vale emerged from the void, his form materializing just outside the gates of the Arcane Academy.

Everything seemed normal at first glance.

But as he walked toward his personal quarters, he sensed something unusual.

Visitors.

And not just ordinary ones.

Vale’s steps slowed as he used various detections to understand what was going on.

He felt it now—several powerful presences gathered within the inner halls of the Academy.

"Interesting... It’s been quite some time since Grandmaster Arcanists showed their presence." Vale muttered.

These Grandmaster Arcanists were the peak of humanity. They may be incapable of using Divinity like Half-Immortals but they had the best understanding of Arcane Arts. Perhaps, they even possessed Arcanas on their bodies...

Indeed, their energy signatures were distinct, unfamiliar yet he knew how powerful they were. These were no common travelers or emissaries. They must be here for something really important.

Vale continued to use his Divine Sense as he scanned the area.

He observed them before he even entered the building.

There were three figures, waiting patiently in the private lounge reserved for high-ranking individuals. Their auras were well-controlled, but he could tell that each of them was formidable in their own right.

To be exact, they seemed to have hidden their true strength.

"Let’s see..." Vale muttered as he pushed open the door and entered.

The three visitors turned toward him as he stepped inside.

They were clad in robes embroidered with symbols of their faction or organization.

Their expressions seemed to lighten up as soon as he appeared.

One of them, an older man with silver hair, spoke first. His voice was calm but firm.

"Shadow Immortal Vale. It is an honor to finally meet you in person."

Vale studied them for a moment before responding.

"I wasn’t expecting guests," he said evenly. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

The silver-haired man smiled slightly...

"We bring word from the Hidden Council of Twelve Paths..." he said.
