Chapter 944: Submission
Chapter 944: Submission
Thud... Thud... Thud...
Suddenly, the three half-immortals knelt before Vale. With his overwhelming presence, their pride was shattered, and they knew that their fates were sealed.
"We will submit to you, Immortal."
Perhaps, they would feel extremely reluctant if it wasn’t Vale. However, knowing that they were dealing with the Shadow Immortal and someone not connected to the Church of the Fortune Goddess, they barely had any resistance against it.
However, if the one in front of them was the Avatar of the Fortune Goddess, they would probably fight to the death.
"Whoa~"
Seeing how these three were easy to talk with, Vale smiled.
The swirling shadows around him immediately dissipated. Nonetheless, the oppressive aura of his presence still weighed heavily on them.
"This will be easy then... I won’t make it difficult for you since you guys are decisive..."
Caleb, Lyra, and Dorian exchanged uneasy glances as Vale’s cold, calculating gaze bore into them.
"Alright... You just have to become my slave for the next 20 years and I’ll set you free."
The three half-immortals could only resign to their fate. They don’t know whether Vale was telling the truth or not anyway.
Nonetheless, they bowed their heads and replied. "We will serve you, Shadow Immortal. We have no desire to face death."
Vale watched them closely as he used his Divine Sense to confirmed their true feelings about their situation...
"Mhmm... Wise choice."
He then raised his hand and decided to display his Slave Mark Spell.
Although he could do this without being noticed, he decided to show them a glyph or intricate patterns for the spell. To be exact, Vale wanted to use the technique he was teaching to Armin and other students in the Academy.
It was the use of technique or ability without relying upon Spell Models. Vale decided to copy the imprinting method of the Slave Mark and cast it on them...
"Then, you will bear my mark. Any form of defiance will not be tolerated."
The Slave Mark glype descended upon the three before it started searing into their very souls.
They grimaced in pain but said nothing, understanding that resistance would only bring death. When the ritual was complete, Vale lowered his hand, his expression still impassive.
’That actually worked smoothly... It even feels better than my Slave Mark Spell...’ Vale couldn’t help but praise himself as he knew that the path he was teaching to the students was indeed the correct method to get a lot stronger.
Perhaps, someday, the Arcanists would no longer have to rely on Spell Models and it might become a thing of the past.
"Now," Vale said as it was about time to learn everything from the three... "You will tell me everything. What was your purpose in summoning Astarith? What grudge do you hold against the Church of the Goddess of Fortune?"
Caleb was the first to speak, his voice was even filled with bitterness at the mention of the Church.
"The Church of the Goddess of Fortune has meddled in the affairs of the Psychic Arts Faction for centuries. Their blessings disrupt our influence, their prayers weaken our curses and manipulations. Their followers also grow bolder with every generation. They view us as heretics, as enemies of the natural order."
It was a very one-sided statement. After all, Vale knew that these people were also up to no good.
Lyra then added. "They’ve hunted us, burned our libraries, and desecrated our sacred grounds. All we’ve done is seek knowledge, to harness the mind’s full potential. But to them, we’re a threat to their power."
’Ohhh... Now that’s something... Mind’s full potential might be a good research topic.’ Vale mused as he knew very well how powerful Mind Energy was.
With Mind Energy, everyone might even be able to practice telekinesis. After all, telekinesis might seem to be a very simple trick for Arcanists but not many of them could do it. Even for Dark Arts Practitioners, the closest thing they have that are quite similar to Telekinesis are the Ghost Hands, Spirit Hands, or Spectral Hands Spells.
’Ohh... Maybe I should recruit these three to become teachers in the Academy?’ Vale thought. It was a bold idea but it was definitely worth the try.
As for their concerns with the church, he doesn’t really care about it.
Dorian then continued to explain their situation.
"Astarith was our weapon to break their stranglehold on this realm. With his power, we could’ve corrupted the church’s relics, shattered their sanctuaries, and dismantled their influence once and for all."
Vale listened silently, while not showing any reactions.
Once again, their vendetta against the Church of the Goddess of Fortune did not concern him. He had no allegiance to the Church, nor did he care for their doctrines.
After a moment of silence, Vale spoke.
"Your vendetta is of little consequence to me. For now... What I care about are the Paragons and the relics they left behind. Do you know anything about them?"
Shane already had a lot of information about them and he even obtained those three relics. However, these three Half-Immortals might know something more.
The trio exchanged glances, not expecting that the topic would be directed here. They took a moment to recall what they knew about the items before they spoke up...
"The Three Paragons... They are legends, even among us. Their sword, the timepiece, and the ring—everyone knows of them. But few know their origin."
Vale’s eyes narrowed. "Speak."
Caleb nodded. "The Paragons did not forge those items here in the mortal realm. They ascended to the Celestial Realm, and it was there that they obtained three mysterious stones. These stones were unlike anything from this realm—ancient, otherworldly, and filled with power..."
Lyra then continued.
"Using their skills, they crafted those stones into the relics we know today: the Stormbringer Sword, the Temporal Timepiece, and the Ring of Creation.
Dorian added, "But their true purpose... That remains a mystery. When the Paragons departed from this realm, they left those relics behind. Some say it was to protect this world. Others say it was to hide them from something—or someone."
