Chapter 83: Chapter 82 Beautiful & Handsome
"I’m heading to school," Olivia said, already stepping onto the path.
"Yeah, I’m heading in the same direction," He replied, catching up.
"What class do you have first?" he asked, scratching the back of his neck.
"Anatomy," the word left a bitter taste in her mouth.
"Me too," he blurted out, even though he had no idea of what class he had now.
Olivia wanted to ask about last night, but for some reason, she didn’t say anything. Was she waiting for him to bring the topic up? She wasn’t sure.
As they walked down the cobblestone pavement, they became a spectacle for the students. "It seems that I am about to become famous now," Olivia mused.
"I should be the one saying that. Who doesn’t know the famous Olivia Donovan in this school," he replied in the same amusement. His head tilted slightly towards her.
She chuckled. "I guess we are both famous."
A warm sensation crept up Lucian’s chest like a blanket. The sound of her laughter was like a sweet melody in his ear. A smile curved on his face, then, a chuckle vibrated from his throat.
Their eyes locked in each other’s. It was like the world had stood still, enclosing them in their own world. Their eyes sparkled, swirling with something they both could not explain.
"You’re beautiful," Lucian muttered, completely dazed, but Olivia heard his words perfectly clear. A rosy hue crept on her cheeks, she nervously tucked her hair behind her ears, her legs fidgeting with the stones on the floor.
"And so are you," she returned his compliment.
"Are you saying I’m beautiful?" he asked, a rich velvety laugh rumbled from his throat.
"No... No... I meant you are handsome," she stuttered, before joining him in the fit of laughter.
"But you know, I’m not wrong, you do look beautiful," she poked her tongue at him.
The banter as they headed to the class. This was the best she had felt for a very long time. She didn’t even realise that she was already lowering her guard against him.
"All thanks to my parents’ genes," he snickered.
"I see, Mr. Beautiful Pretty Hot Guy," they burst out in a fit of laughter again. Olivia had no idea where the nickname came from, as long as it had rhyme, then it was perfect.
"There’s something in your hair," Lucian murmured, stepping closer. His fingers brushed the petal free.
Olivia’s heart thumped like it had forgotten its normal rhythm. "Here," he brought the petal close to her, their eyes locked again. Lucian’s ear turned red, being able to talk with her again was like a dream come true for him.
But their moment was short-lived when a hand suddenly pulled Olivia back. Klaus’s angry face came into view. His hand tightened around Olivia’s wrist as he pulled her behind his frame. His jaw twitched as his eyes shot daggers at Lucian.
"Stay away from my girlfriend," Klaus’s words brought shock to not only Lucian but to all the students who were watching the drama unfolding.
Lucian clenched his fist, he could not believe his ears. His eyes darted to the frame of Olivia who was behind Klaus.
Their eyes met, he was expecting Olivia to deny his claim, but Olivia quickly averted his gaze. A crack formed on his heart.
Olivia pulled her hands from Klaus’s grip, her eyes darted about avoiding Lucian’s scrutinising gaze. It was like he wanted to burn her into ashes if she confirmed Klaus’s claim. Beads of sweat trickled down the back of her neck.
"Don’t call me your girlfriend, I’m only your half-girlfriend," she said loudly, hoping it would quench the anger in Lucian’s eyes.
"Doesn’t that make you my girlfriend?" Klaus snapped back at her. Olivia turned back to Klaus. "No, it’s a half."
When Olivia turned back to look at Lucian, he was nowhere to be seen, it was like he had disappeared into thin air. Olivia’s heart sank in her chest, leaving a bitter feeling in its wake.
Her eyes grew cold, she snapped at Klaus, her jaw tightened. "What is your problem, Klaus?"
"My problem is seeing you having a good time with him. Have you ever laughed with me the way you did with him?" Pain reflected in his eyes, his hands clenched.
Olivia was taken aback when she saw the pain in his eyes. "He’s my friend, Klaus. If you want this to work between us, you have to respect my decision and my friends."
"I refuse to acknowledge him as one. Don’t play games with me, Olivia. Can you swear you don’t have any feelings for him?"
"I don’t have any feelings for him, I can swear on time," she snapped at him, but deep down, her words left a sting in her chest.
"Can you say the same about him?" he walked closer to her, his frame towering over hers.
"I don’t think he has one for me. He can basically get any hot girl he wishes to have. Why will he go for me?" Her voice lowered at the end of the sentence.
"I highly doubt that..."
"If you can’t deal with it, we might as well end this," she glared at him.
Klaus gave her a cold stare before a smirk tugged on his lips. He linked his fingers through hers, even when she tried to remove hers, his grip only tightened.
"You are my girlfriend, we should walk around hand in hand." He smiled before pulling her along, walking into their class. The students parted ways for them to walk through. ’I will see who is brave enough to come close to you as I have declared you mine. As for that pretty boy, I need to get rid of him as soon as possible,’ Klaus thought inwardly, wearing a smirk.
Olivia looked behind, her eyes searching for any shadow of Lucian, but she couldn’t catch a glimpse of him. Her soaring mood depleted in a matter of seconds, her eyes shot daggers at Klaus’s frame. She needed to find a way to break out of this deal.
And from the crowds, someone clenched her fist tight, that blood dropped down to the ground.
Let her laugh now.... It won’t last.
