Chapter 149: Chapter 148 The Ruined World (3)

Klaus’ brows knitted in worry. If he should use his system power, Lex Dominion’s ability to create a temporary law, it may disrupt the flow of essence in the immediate area. He could temporarily sever the connection between Diana’s consciousness and the vision, shocking her back to reality.

However, this is a risky move, as it might leave her and every other person in the area temporarily weakened and disoriented. And that is not something they could afford right now.

"What are you waiting for?" Bella’s voice broke his trail of thoughts.

"You guys should stand around us, just in case we get attacked," he ordered. The rest of his team immediately circled around them, their hands hovering above their weapons.

As much as Klaus hated what he was about to do right now, he basically had no other choice. "Don’t blame me for this." he muttered.

He took a deep breath before touching Diana’s hand, his own essence forming to bridge the gap between her physical body and her lost consciousness. He then forces his way into her mind, then he sees himself in the midst of chaos.

He saw how monsters were devouring the humans who were trying to run for their lives. Some of the people who were hiding in the car were compressed with their cars by the giant monsters.

Klaus’ breath hitched, these monsters were different from the ones in the domain, he could feel their blood-chilling aura, it was so thick as if a mountain was pressing against his lungs.

But this wasn’t the reason he had come, he needed to find Diana before he would be detected by the monsters. If they die here, their body would be nothing but an empty vessel.

He ran through the crowds. "Diana," he yelled, as he frantically searched for her.

Meanwhile, Diana was occupied defending against the merciless attacks of the monster, her chest heaved up and down heavily. She just realized that her powers were half their potential, so she couldn’t really cause the monster a critical damage.

She nervously wiped the blood that was trickling down her face. She slowly walked in circles, imitating the monster’s movement.

The monster’s body was twice Diana’s size, it had black skin that was smooth with no hair, it walked on fours, but its forelimb was like a knuckle against the ground.

Its head had the shape of a leopard, with black soulless eyes. Sharp jagged teeth like those of sharks protruded out of its jaws.

Diana swallowed, as two more monsters joined the fight. Her heart hammered in her ears, fear gripping her very soul. She had tried to escape from the memories, but for some weird reason, it was like she was stuck in there... or something was blocking her exit.

She didn’t know what exactly, but she could sense a foreign oppressive aura in the air. An aura that terrifies her more than the three monsters in front of her, that were seconds from lunging at her.

Her gaze flicked across the monsters, she wondered how she was invisible to the humans but visible to the monsters. Was this their special eyesight? Or was something tampering with the dimensions?

"Diana!" A familiar male voice ranged from behind her.

Diana froze, she didn’t know if she should turn around to see who was calling her, but if she did, she risks getting attacked by the monsters, and if she doesn’t, she wouldn’t know if this was real or not.

Her brows knitted in confusion. She sighed, believing the voice was an illusion. No one could travel across planes except Ellie. And Ellie is in Alexa’s team, so there is no way anyone is coming to rescue her.

One of the monsters charged, it leaped midair towards her, she raised her hands up, sending it flying back with her tornado powers, but before she could regain her stance, another attacked, she ducked, narrowly escaping its claws.

The monster’s attacks became faster and well-coordinated, making it extremely difficult for her to defend against their attack.

Diana stumbled to the ground, as she turned around, she saw one of the monsters pouncing towards her with its jaws wide open. Fear made her freeze in her place, staring at the incoming death.

As the monster was only an inch away from biting her head off, she suddenly felt a warm touch on her shoulder, and then she found herself disappearing from the plane. By the time the monster got to where she once was, its teeth snapped at nothing but air.

The monsters turned around in confusion, sniffing for any lingering scent of hers. But they couldn’t perceive anything, it was like she wasn’t there in the first place.

Diana blinked her eyes several times, as if to see if she was still alive. She became conscious of her environment, and in front of her was Klaus. He seemed to be also gaining consciousness of his surroundings.

Their eyes met, Diana’s breath hitched. She had already connected the dots, he was the one who had saved her. But how did he do it? And why did he have to be the one to rescue her? She hated this dude to her guts.

She quickly retracted her hand from his. "Thank you for saving me," she said, although her heart was suffocating with green bitter gas.

"Don’t mention it." Klaus replied back, retracting his hand to his side.

"Diana," Bella quickly pulled her into an embrace. "I’m so glad you are okay, I almost died from worrying about you." Bella cried.

"I’m fine, there is nothing to worry about." She patted Bella’s back.

Diana’s eyes flicked back to Klaus, and this time they were filled with genuine gratefulness. This act made her see him in a different light.

"We should keep it moving, guys." Klaus ordered, disrupting their little getting back together.

As the team moved further down the path, Diana quickly walked beside Klaus. "How were you able to travel between planes? And most importantly, how did you locate exactly which one I was in?" Diana asked, feeling something was not quite right.
