Chapter 112: Chapter 111 The One Who Will Break It

Olivia’s eyes fluttered open. She looked around her with no emotion. She was back again in her sea of consciousness.

Strangely enough, it was too calm and serene, a complete opposite to her life right now.

She stayed lying on the ground. She had no will to stand up or even look for Eritrea. She didn’t even want to talk to her.

She stared at the clear blue sky. Her thoughts were empty. She didn’t know what to think about.

"Are you going to stay there forever?" Eritrea’s calm voice echoed through her head.

Olivia pretended that she didn’t hear a thing. She just wanted to be left alone. She stared at the sky, wishing if only her mind could be this serene and peaceful.

"You were finally able to use your power without any help. I’m proud of you," she added.

But only silence answered her. Eritrea sighed before walking closer to her.

"Tell me, what has happened to make you this dispirited?"

Olivia turned, her green eyes meeting Eritrea’s blindfolded ones.

But she looked away. Olivia didn’t know where to start from. Should she start with how she jinxed everything, including her friend, until she led him to death?

"You were once like me before, right? You were also marked by flames and born in chaos... did you always attract bad things?" The words weakly left her lips.

Eritrea sighed before sitting on the ground. She faced the vast sea, as if she was looking at something beyond it.

"No, I didn’t always attract bad things. I also attracted good things. But one thing is certain, our path is lonely, always covered with blood and destruction."

Olivia smiled bitterly. "But I didn’t ask for this."

"It was never your choice. That’s why you are said to be chosen. If you can master your powers, you will be one of the most fearful and powerful beings in this world." Eritrea’s voice sounded like a knife to Olivia’s heart.

Yes, before, Olivia wanted power to protect herself and not to be looked down upon. But as they say, heavy is the head that wears a crown. Every power comes with a price, and the price of hers was too high.

"I don’t see any use of this power except leaving destruction in my path. One of my friends..." The word friend left a bitter taste in her mouth. "She can heal. She can save life. The other one can see into the future and prevent mishaps. But why do I have to kill and destroy everything in my path? Not even the trees or the insects are spared." Olivia’s voice cracked with emotions. She really hated herself right now.

Eritrea remained silent.

"I lost my best friend because of my attribute to attract bad things. Everywhere I go, something bad must happen. I really regret being chosen by this power. It does nothing but cause pain in my life," she finally cried.

Eritrea wanted to sympathise with her, but right now wasn’t the time to break down. Things were already stirring, and she could feel it.

"I’m so sorry about your friend, Olivia... but look at the bright side. You were finally able to control that huge amount of power without losing consciousness, without letting the power control you," she paused.

"This is the right time to claim the sacred flame. With just a little more training, you will be stronger than ever," she continued.

Olivia’s face turned grim. She slowly turned to her before sitting up. "I’m done with this power. I won’t do it," she said slowly and clearly, as if she wanted the words to sink into Eritrea’s head.

"If you don’t take control of your power now, it will. And when it does, you’ll be sorry. Because even the remaining things you treasure will be destroyed by it," she warned, her voice still calm and elegant as ever.

Olivia swallowed, bile building in her throat. Her fingers tugged into her palm. "So you are trying to say I don’t have any chance to escape from this fate?" Her voice trembled with anger, with frustration and sadness.

"Yes," Eritrea answered flatly.

Olivia laughed, but it wasn’t from happiness. Rather, it was an agonised one. One only laughed when there was no way out.

She had no choice? But she had vengeance to carry out. If she was chosen by this godforsaken power, she would use it to destroy her enemies. Why was she even trying not to want it? Gauss is still out there running free. The monsters are still out running rampant in the wild.

"Fine. I will train and try to get the sacred flame again. Hopefully, it can show me what my path really is," she muttered under her breath, as she wiped away the tears from her eyes.

Eritrea was taken aback by her sudden change of decision. This was faster than she had thought. She had known Olivia to be a pain in the ass, stubborn as a rock.

"Then it’s settled. I will let you know when the time is right."

Then that was good enough. Olivia would not wait for fate to decide her outcome again. She would take her destiny into her own hands. If she couldn’t bend it, she would break it. Her eyes blazed with resolve. She needed to get back to the real world. She had hunting to do.

She clenched her fists, feeling the imaginary heat of her power flickering just beneath her skin. The stillness of this place no longer comforted her—it suffocated her. She wasn’t meant to lie in peace. Not yet. Not until they paid. Every enemy, every monster, every name on her list. They would all feel what she felt.

Eritrea’s breath hitched. The amount of murderous aura that was coming from her was suffocating. Right then, she knew that Olivia had changed. She had become powerful. Someone burning for a purpose. Someone who was fit to be marked by chaos.
