Chapter 41: An illegal trade.
Chapter 41: An illegal trade.
The rest of the work was easy. Broken pieces of the sword came together, moving as if magnets were calling them and the sword was repaired.
[Congratulations host on achieving your first perfect repair.
Reward: 1. Echo memory. When fixing something, you can glimpse into the object’s past. Useful for uncovering hidden secrets and histories.
2. Efficiency modules. Boost repair speed or precision; great for putting together puzzles or working on timed challenges.]
Sunshine put her hands together. "Thank you Bjorn."
In seeking one thing, she had ended up benefiting greatly.
She picked up Bjorn’s sword and left the space because she wanted to test the strength of the sword first.
Sunshine stepped off the bed, somersaulted like a ninja and struck the wooden table on which Hades’s medicine and laptop were sitting. She expected it to crack at most but the sword went through with ease like a sword slicing soft butter.
It split into two and everything fell to the ground.
"What the fuck!" She exclaimed. "What should I try next?"
She rushed downstairs in search of another thing to destroy for the sake of research. Sunshine thought about dinning table that was made out of stone marble, the strongest kind and she hurried into the dining room.
She drew back like a ninja, spun around with style [in her mind] and she brought the sword down. There was a red spark, some trembling and the table was split in two with ease.
She went around the house, trying it on different things. It even went through the wall, cut down a tree with one slice and left a large gush in the ground, near the bed.
Everything that she was doing outside, Earl and Ariel witnessed because the "Aya!" sounds she was making woke them up.
Sunshine visited the old house where she lived and left it in shambles.
As she was walking back into the main manor, her eyes remained on the sword. "What kind of beast did he slice for this sword to break in the first place?" She mumbled then shrugged. That was not her current problem, the apocalypse was. She did think that she would need some of these swords.
Needing was one thing and actually buying them was another. A sword like this had to be very expensive. And she had the light sword the system had given her. When she found time, she would try it out as well.
Hopefully, it would give her a great surprise like Bjorn’s sword had done. She returned to bedroom and found Hades awake, examining his leg.
"One moment." she said to him as she vanished into the space.
The system had already contacted Bjorn and the sword vanished from her hands the moment she appeared. Sunshine witnessed it appearing in Bjorn’s hands and she examined it.
She used it to cut a stone and nodded. "I can’t believe you fixed it so quickly. What level repairman are you? You must be a master or grandmaster, right?"
Sunshine detected excitement on Bjorn’s voice. She did not rush to correct the misunderstanding. There were nine levels among repairmen. [Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Skilled, Advanced, Expert, Pre-Master, Master and Grandmaster.]
She was not anywhere near grandmaster level but she was not going to admit it.
"You know, I intentionally gave you an impossible task because I did not want to let go of the Nullfire F10." Bjorn added to her words. It was now setting in that she had clearly undermined the capabilities of the repairman.
No wonder her information was marked private, grandmasters all hid their information to avoid being kidnapped from their worlds and forced to repair or crafts different things for the rich and powerful. Universal repairmen were like endangered species and grandmasters were in greater danger and in high demand.
Bjorn felt lucky to have stumbled on one accidentally.
"I have my ways." Sunshine answered casually. "Now let us get down to business, I do not have much time. I won’t say much, give me what I am owed."
Bjorn sent the gun and phasium alloy over through the system.
A big box settled on the ground, Sunshine inspected it’s contents and realized that there was three kilos more of phasium alloy. It was more than what she had ordered. The phasium alloy was made of a metallic powder, Sunshine did not know what to expect but definitely not a powder that looked like white cocaine or sugar.
Where was the metal?
"Bjorn I think there has been a mistake, I ordered for just two kilos of phasium alloy." She alerted the seller, taking out two sachets of the alloy and leaving the rest in there. "Is this it?"
"It is what you ordered and the addition is not a mistake, it is a bonus to show how grateful I am." She answered, pausing. "Why do you even need the Nullfire F10 it is a dangerous weapon you know. And the phasium alloy, is it to make weapons?"
"Rules Bjorn." Sunshine replied.
"Right, no questions." Bjorn said. "But if you are in need of weapons then we are going to be very good friends." She sent over a catalogue of the weapons she sold.
"I have no money." Sunshine clarified immediately, for now all she could do was admire the catalogue that was in her hands.
Bjorn moved her head and extremely long finger from side to side. "Who said that money is the only currency you can pay with. You can also pay with valuable minerals, gems, food...."
"Food?" Sunshine threw in, interrupting.
Bobbing her head quickly, Bjorn sent Sunshine another catalogue of food products from other worlds that were acceptable.
To Sunshine’s joy, rice and other grains were on the list. So was meat, all types. Highlighted were strength boosting meats.
Sunshine had never heard of them so she gave them less attention. What mattered more was grain which she had a lot of in the space.
She figured that she would buy more later to replace what she had given up. Food was important, but so were weapons that could kill the monsters from the mist.
[Host this is a once in the lifetime opportunity but you could land in trouble with the intergalactic police for making illegal trade as you have no trading license.]
Releasing a scoff, Sunshine waved her hand dismissively. "Oh yeah and what are they going to do? Hunt me down here on earth during the apocalypse for exchanging some grain? I highly doubt that. And you said this channel is blocked so only the three of us know about this trade." She quietly told the system then transferred her attention to Bjorn. "You have yourself a deal, can I start buying now?"
She picked weapons that were useful like the vibro dagger. It vibrated at high frequency which allowed the owner to track it down no matter where it was hidden. It could cut through almost anything so it could be used in silent take downs or close combat.
An automatic grenade sling_ sling. A device which hurled grenades to the distance of ones choice, it was perfect for long range attacks.
Hold up knuckles. They were knuckles dusters enhanced with localized gravitation force that could knock out larger opponents with one punch, she got some of the small sizes for the kids.
Pulse bows that shot energy arrows that dissolved after hitting the target, leaving no evidence. They were perfect for silent beast hunting.
Flash disc’s. Throwable disc’s that exploded in a flash of light or sound. They were perfect for creating distractions. They could also temporarily disorient people and drones.
She enjoyed the shopping spree a little too much that she ended up giving away half of her grains and Hades’s expensive bluefin tuna.
"Oh crap!" She muttered after it was all over.
