Chapter 33: Rage
Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Rage
The leader wiped the blood from his lips, his fury boiling over. He slammed his foot against the ground. More roots burst upward, lashing toward Liora like hungry snakes.
Liora leaped back, dodging the first strike, but the roots kept coming. They twisted and coiled, aiming for her limbs. She ducked, rolled, and slashed at them with her rusty dagger, but it seemed to have no effect on the situation. The more roots she cut, the more came at her like serpents wanting to strangle her.
Liora soon realized that she was falling behind.
The man was stronger than she had thought. His control over his ability was terrifying. His roots moved like an extension of his body, striking from all angles. Liora gritted her teeth. She had to stay ahead.
But she wasn’t fast enough.
A thick root shot up from beneath her and wrapped around her ankle. Before she could react, it yanked her off her feet. She slammed onto the hard concrete. Air rushed from her lungs as she felt blood dripping from her head.
Another set of roots surged forward. They coiled around her arms, pinning them above her head. More wrapped around her legs, tightening like iron chains. Sharp thorns scraped against her skin. Warm blood trickled down her arms and ankles. The sting made her wince.
She struggled, twisting her body, but the grip was merciless. The roots dug deeper, biting into her flesh. Her breath came in sharp gasps as pain laced through her body.
The leader stepped forward, his eyes filled with smug amusement. "If you had behaved properly, I might have treated you better, but it seems you wanted to be rough?" He mocked her with his yellow teeth. The double meaning in his words was clear as day, which only made Liora grit her teeth in anger.
Liora glared at him with rage. Her chest heaved, her muscles tensed, but no matter how much she struggled, the roots only tightened. The more she fought, the deeper they dug into her skin.
She was pinned.
The man crouched beside her, his lips curling into a cruel grin. "You should’ve just behaved." His voice dripped with arrogance. He pressed a hand against the roots, reinforcing their grip.
Liora clenched her teeth. Rage bubbled inside her. Her body was trapped, but her spirit was far from broken.
The leader smirked. "Let’s see how long that fire lasts."
Liora gritted her teeth. Her body throbbed from the deep cuts. Blood oozed down her arms and ankles, staining the floor beneath her. The leader loomed over her, his grin widening as he watched her struggle.
The man looked at Liora, pinned down on the floor, with his lust-filled gaze. Liora’s clothes were in tatters after the roots tore through the fabric. Her white porcelain skin peeked from behind the bloody clothes like an enticing bloody flower, and her red hair made it even more unbearable.
"You are really a vixen. Shame that you are too arrogant. If you had submitted to me, I would have made you my wife," the man said with a lecherous expression, as if it was all Liora’s fault for being too noisy.
"But never mind, I will show you how this daddy will pamper you," the man said with a chuckle and reached for her torn clothes, trying to remove them.
Liora tried to back off in disgust and fear, her stomach churning at the mere thought of this man touching even a single inch of her skin. Her eyes started filling with tears.
Yes, she was arrogant, and she believed it was her fault, but who could blame her for being arrogant? It was in her blood. When had she ever been dealt with like this?
Now she realized how wrong she was to think that she could control any situation, charging in without thinking about the future. She had never realized that it was always her brother who made the situations favorable for her. Even if she noticed, she would ignore it and boost her ego, thinking she was capable of such things.
In the past, it was always her brother backing her up, and her naïve self thought that she could get out of any situation without a scratch.
But she realized that in this world, her brother, father, and mother were no longer there to back her up. She was alone. A tear slipped from her eyes as she thought about the disgusting man laying his dirty hands on her.
"You bastard, get off her!"
An enraged girl—Zhou Yinuo.
She lunged towards him, gripping a crowbar so tightly that her knuckles turned white. Her face was filled with horror as she looked at Liora’s condition, but more than horror, there was determination to save her. So she swung with all her strength, aiming straight for the leader’s skull.
The impact came with a loud thud.
But the man barely flinched.
For a split second, his head tilted from the force of the blow, but instead of pain, his expression twisted into one of sheer, livid disbelief. Slowly, he turned his head back to face Zhou Yinuo.
Silence stretched between them, like a suffocating serpent.
Then, his lips curled upward in an ugly sneer.
"You filthy rat," he spat with rage. "Did you really think you could hurt me?"
Before Zhou Yinuo could react, he moved.
Faster than she could retreat, his leg shot out and struck her stomach with brutal force. The sound of the impact resonated throughout the room. Zhou Yinuo’s body was lifted off the ground, flung backward like a ragdoll.
Her back hit the wall with a loud thud and then followed with a crack.
Her head slammed against the concrete, and in an instant, she crumpled to the ground, unmoving.
Liora’s breath caught in her throat.
"No!" she tried to scream, but the sound barely escaped.
Her heart pounded violently against her ribs as she watched Zhou Yinuo’s limp form. Blood trickled from her bloodied head, pooling beneath her motionless body.
Liora’s body trembled with disbelief.
