Apocalypse: Transmigrated with an Overlord System -
Chapter 131: System Malfunction
Chapter 131: Chapter 131: System Malfunction
Liora jumped off its back and landed on her knees, barely able to stay upright. Her hands trembled. Her shoulder was bleeding badly. One eye was nearly swollen shut.
But she stood again.
The tiger let out a low groan. It tried to move—but its limbs no longer responded. Because the remaining life force was drained by the shadows deeply. When she was busy weakening him and the tiger was fighting back, the shadows did not stop their work; they quickly drained his life force, because that was the only way they could help Liora... Their attack was practically useless against such a high-level beast when they were just souls of low-level mutated insects.
The tiger’s chest rose and fell unevenly now. His once furious gaze had dulled, but there was still something left there—a sliver of defiance, a wild refusal to give up even in death. His jaw trembled, a weak snarl bubbling from his throat.
Liora walked forward and placed her hand on its forehead. Her fingers trembled as she looked down at the beast.
"You were strong," she whispered. "But I can’t let you live. Only the strongest survive."
The soul shadows swarmed over her.
Liora suddenly focused on its almost flickering soul, which was now too weak to resist her advancement. She was able to absorb the soul in one move.
The beast let out one last growl, and then it was over. He finally breathed his last breath.
Silence returned to the forest.
Liora stepped back, her legs nearly giving out. She fell to one knee, breathing heavily. Her wounds throbbed with each passing second, but she felt her smile becoming bigger and bigger. Finally she was able to kill such a high-level mutated beast, and with its help she can absorb more powerful souls in the future. Liora’s eyes glinted with determination and a confident smile.
And as if to improve her mood further, a system notification popped up...
[Successfully killed level 11 mutated horn tiger]
[Reward gained: +2099 strength, +3000 health, +2508 stamina, +1400 agility, +1 Titan Fist Mk-VI (rare item obtained)]
Liora stared blankly at the system notification. Her eyes flashed with surprise, the floating words flickering before her.
"...Hey. You’re still alive?" she muttered. "I thought you were shut down... by Atlas."
No response.
Her brow furrowed. That wasn’t right. Usually, the system would throw some sarcastic comment or a dry remark. But now? Nothing. Not even a beep.
Liora blinked and waved her hand slightly, trying to call out to it again. "Seriously? Are you sulking now? You abandoned me in the middle of a life-or-death fight, and you’re the one throwing a tantrum?"
Still silence.
She swiped her hand through the air and opened the panel. The interface was there. She could see everything—inventory, mall, her space storage, and a whole list of notifications. All of it worked like usual.
Everything... except the system’s mechanical voice and its presence.
The guiding presence that usually explained new items or warned her about dangers. The part of the system that felt almost like a companion was gone.
Her stomach twisted slightly. A strange emptiness settled in her chest. It didn’t make sense. The system was functioning, but its voice—its help—was just gone. Was it Atlas’s doing?
She had a strong feeling it was. Maybe it was his way of making sure she could not cheat. She could still use the system, but she couldn’t rely on it anymore. She had to figure things out on her own now.
Liora stared at the blue screen for a few more seconds, then let out a long breath. "Fine," she muttered, brushing the hair from her face. "You don’t want to talk? Then I won’t ask."
She turned her attention back to the reward list.
And almost whistled.
Her strength stat had jumped by over two thousand. Health by three thousand. Her entire body felt lighter already, the pain dulling from her injuries as the regeneration kicked in.
She slowly stood up, flexing her fingers. The cuts were already closing. Her ribs didn’t stab with each breath anymore. Her wounds had not completely healed, but it was enough to keep her going.
Then her eyes caught the last line again:
[+1 Titan Fist Mk-VI (rare item obtained)]
Her head tilted slightly.
"What the hell is that?"
Of course, the system didn’t answer. Typical.
Liora narrowed her eyes. "Guess I’ll find out myself."
She opened her inventory and pulled the item out. A strange, box-shaped object floated in the air before her. Average in size. But unlike anything she had ever seen before.
It was smooth. Polished. All sides perfectly flat and square. There were no hinges, no clasps, no markings—nothing that even hinted at how to open it.
Her brows furrowed deeper. The design wasn’t just odd. She had a strong guess that it didn’t belong. Not of this world. Not even to her world. It felt... alien.
Could it be from another world entirely?
That thought sent a chill down her spine and then filled her with excitement.
She turned it in her hands carefully, trying to find any seam or mechanism, but it was solid. Frustrated, she rotated it again—and her thumb accidentally rested on a small, barely indented spot on the top.
A thumbprint? It fit perfectly.
Then—click.
A mechanical voice echoed in the quiet forest:
"Owner of Titan Fist Mk-VI recognized."
Blue lines lit up across the box’s surface, tracing unfamiliar patterns. A second later, the top slid open with a smooth hiss.
Inside, resting on a velvet-black interior, was a single armored glove.
It looked like a fist weapon—but nothing like what she had ever seen before.
Dark metal layered over with glowing etchings, the joints reinforced with something that shimmered like liquid steel. The knuckles had small indentations that flickered with blue light, and the entire glove seemed to radiate energy.
Liora reached out and picked it up.
It was heavier than it looked, but it balanced perfectly in her hand, like it was built just for her. The glove stretched as she slid her fingers in, adjusting automatically to her size. As soon as her hand was fully inside, the metal plates locked into place.
Liora’s lips parted slightly in awe.
"Titan Fist... huh?" she murmured. "You’re definitely not from here."
