Chapter 239: Fang Yao’s Tale
Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Fang Yao’s Tale
"She is a good person." Fang Yao concluded after he heard what Chu Miao had done.
"Of course, she is. But, what was that your mother said about her killing your brother in cold-blooded?" Yin Wei asked while looking at the young boy in front of him. When the soldiers nearby heard this question, they all perked their ears to listen.
They had been wondering why such a nice girl who saved them without regard for her own safety would be called a cold-blooded killer.
Fang Yao didn’t think there was any need to hide it because everyone in the whole community knew anyway.
It was better for him to explain than the soldiers hearing exaggerated rumors from others.
"During the extreme heat, Sister Chu and Brother Ye went out to look for supplies at night. They always went out and came back with bags full of supplies. Sometimes their car would be full too.
At that time, people had started to run out of food and drinking water, but water wasn’t as urgent as food since people could still boil tap water to drink.
Some people started to get jealous of the amount of food and other supplies sister Chu’s group found. But they were too scared to go out and fight zombies to collect their own supplies.
So, some people in our building, mostly women led by my mother, banded together one day and asked Sister Chu and Brother Ye who were going out to bring them some supplies.
Well, it was more like ordering them using their seniority. Of course, they refused and asked them to go look for supplies themselves.
The woman began to morally kidnap them but sister Chu and brother Ye didn’t yield and left. Who would have thought that when they came back in the morning, many people, this time including men would block their way and demand that they hand over all the supplies they found if they wanted to enter the building?
You know how the sun was at the time. It was poisonous and if someone was caught in the sun, they could die, but those people didn’t care and blocked the entrance.
My big brother was at the forefront asking for the supplies that filled a car. Sister Chu asked them to move several times but they refused.
She told them clearly that if they didn’t move, she would kill them, but they must have thought she was bluffing as they insisted on her handing over all the supplies if she wanted to enter the building.
When the sun started rising in the sky, she got angry and used her sword to cut my brother’s body into two. I didn’t dare to look but I heard that she had practically divided his body into two equal parts from head to toe.
It was only when the others saw my brother fall that they realized that sister Chu had been serious and wasn’t bluffing.
The whole community found out about this incident and started criticizing her for being cold-blooded. But no one dared to say it to her face.
That was basically what happened." Fang Yao finished explaining and took a sip of water from the bottle someone had placed in front of him at some point.
When the soldiers heard this story, they almost felt as if they were no longer living in reality but a dream. Someone actually dared to coerce Major General Ye into going out during a zombie infestation to collect supplies for them as if they had more than one life.
What was more, they dared to block his way and threaten him. This was like a fantasy. It was a miracle that only one person died and Major General Ye didn’t even make a move.
But seeing how the people were so afraid of him and the fairy, it was obvious that one killing had done a good job of warning the monkey by killing the chicken.
But, how could there be such unreasonable people in this world? You don’t want to risk your life fighting zombies but want to eat and drink as if you are some kind of royalty.
Where was there such a good thing in this world? Moreover, did those people really think that blocking the entrance of the building could stop such powerful people?
That was a serious joke.
"You don’t blame them for killing your brother?" Another soldier at the side asked.
"Why should I blame them? Everyone has to take responsibility for their actions. He was a grown man almost the same age as brother Ye but instead of politely asking if he could join them to look for supplies, he chose to rob without the strength to back his attitude.
It was his fault, he can’t blame anyone." Fang Yao was clear about kindness and grudges.
His brother had made the wrong choice under the influence of his mother and couldn’t blame anyone. In fact, if there was someone to blame, it was his mother.
He couldn’t misplace the blame.
"You are really an open-minded young man. Anyone else wouldn’t care that their brother was the one in the wrong and would place the blame on the fairy." Yin Wei said.
Fang Yao just smiled shyly and stood up.
"Dad should have finished cleaning, I’ll go see him." He said
When they heard this, another soldier came to him carrying a four-layered hotpot.
"Here, take it for supper. Sorry, it’s only some leftovers from lunch and some of the remaining porridge. We haven’t made dinner yet so we can’t give you anything fresh." The soldier said.
Fang Yao wanted to refuse, but remembering what his father was eating, he couldn’t be pretentious.
He took the hotpot and expressed his gratitude.
"Thank you. I’ll bring the hotpot back once I clean it." He said as he walked to the door with tears welling up again in his eyes.
He hadn’t expected to experience such kindness in one day. There were still so many good people in this world. Even though the future might be tough and uncertain, he would work hard to live a fulfilling life.
He would also work harder to give his father a better life even among the dead. Because that was what the zombies were, dead people walking around.
