Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Back to the Community

The yacht arrived at their community in a little over an hour. This time, Ye Xuan didn’t need Chu Miao to help with the navigation.

Since they had cleared the way only a little while ago, no more mutated creatures or zombies had shown up.

Chu Miao’s powerful blast of the light spiritual power was still lingering and no creature with the slightest death energy dared to come close.

Thus, their journey back was uneventful. The soldiers, who were used to fighting zombies and mutated fish recently every time they went out, were surprised by this kind of peace.

It was the first time since the apocalypse started that they had relaxed so much.

Of course, most of their relaxation came from Ye Xuan’s presence. With him there, it was as if they had an anchor that ensured that their boat of life could not capsize no matter what.

While in the deck, they had gotten curious about the appearance of Ye Xuan and Fu Nie explained animatedly how they had seen Ye Xuan kill over two hundred zombies alone, enter the research institute and save people before leaving unscathed.

The others chimed in exclaiming how they had never seen someone so powerful. With only a sword, he had cleared away a large horde of zombies that had made life difficult for them and had claimed the lives of many of their brothers.

When they saw Ye Xuan fight so heroically, they had made the decision to join him on the spot.

While following him, not only could they become stronger and gain the ability to protect themselves, they could also kill more zombies and avenge their dead brothers.

What’s more, Ye Xuan was a righteous soldier and he would do what he could to protect the country and the common people. He would not use his position to amass wealth or oppress others.

That was why they did not think twice about becoming his subordinates.

The others agreed with their opinion and also felt that they had made a wise decision to follow Qi Long.

The yacht stopped outside the same window they had left through a few hours ago. To their surprise, there was a group of people crowding it and looking at them.

Upon closer observation, even her grandfather was there. What were they doing standing there like that?

Chu Miao walked out of the helm and stood on the deck. It was the first time the hundred soldiers were seeing her and they were left with their mouths agape with surprise.

Where did such a beauty come from? How come they hadn’t seen her before?

However, before they could look for long they felt a chill run down their spine and they shivered.

That feeling represented danger. They all turned around to look at the direction they felt the dangerous feeling came from and found themselves looking into eyes so dark it could bury them in darkness.

There was some murderous intent in those eyes and it was as if it was giving them a warning. At first, they didn’t understand why the Major General would look at them like that, but then seeing him walk to Chu Miao and take her hand in his as if declaring his sovereignty, they understood that she was off limits and shouldn’t be sullied by their dirty eyes or thoughts.

"Grandpa, what are you guys doing there?" Chu Miao called out from the deck of the yacht looking towards the window.

The water had risen to the point where it was only a couple of feet below the window. Now, someone could just step out and get on the window sill or in the boat depending on where they were going.

It was estimated that by tomorrow morning, the third floor would be flooded.

The owners of the apartments on the third floor had already moved. Even those on the fourth floor were preparing to vacate.

Luckily, only the top five floors occupied an apartment on each floor. The ones below had two apartments on each floor.

Moreover, the fifteenth floor was unoccupied, and so was the thirteenth floor. Some lower floors like the tenth floor had one apartment with their owner at home while the other was empty.

Even though it had an owner, the person had been away on a business trip when the apocalypse began. As such, even though the house was fully furnished, there was no one inside.

Considering how things were, no one even knew if the owner was still alive. So, his house could become a refuge for others.

Nevertheless, because of the empty apartments, nobody had taken the initiative to move into it.

There were others in the same situation, but they were on the lower floors. It was not worth it moving into them.

Now that Chu Miao and Ye Xuan had brought back so many people, they could only be arranged to stay congested in a few apartments.

Luckily, they were used to sleeping several people on bunker beds in the same room.

"We are here to welcome the new comrades." Grandpa Chu replied to Chu Miao’s question.

Looking at the deck of the yacht overflowing with people, he couldn’t help but be surprised.

He remembered that Ye Xuan had mentioned that he was going to pick up a few people, how did the number become so large?

As if he could read his mind, Ye Xuan spoke at that moment, "I will explain everything later Grandpa."

Grandpa Chu came back to his senses when he heard his grandson-in-law speak and laughed heartily.

"Okay, okay Xiao Xuan. Get the brothers inside to freshen up. Don’t let them get sick."

With Grandpa Chu speaking, the people crowding the window moved away giving the people on the boat the space to climb into the building.

Chu Miao was the first to climb in. Ye Xuan didn’t follow her and instead asked the soldiers standing in the deck like stuck figures to enter first.

These people had been dumbfounded by the presence of the general and also at how the major general addressed him.

It was unbelievable that someone at such a high position could be so amicable. They had been so engrossed in their thoughts that they had forgotten to salute their superior.

However, nobody there cared about such superficial things, so no one reminded them.

Qi Long was the only one who had his wits about him and wanted to remind everybody. Who would have thought that the general would give him a look that stopped the words in his throat.

He could only swallow them back and act like the rest.

After everyone had climbed inside the building, Ye Xuan followed suit and in the confusion, Chu Miao put away the yacht.

Among those people in the corridor, apart from her family, the only other person who knew that she was the one who had taken the yacht was Yang Leo.

He was standing at the back and looking at her with a complicated expression.

Fortunately, he had had over three hours to digest what he had seen that morning and accept it. Now, apart from feeling a little complicated, he didn’t feel as shocked as before.

Especially when he saw how easily she had put that boat away without anyone else being the wiser.
