Chapter 61: Trouble In Wisdom Archive (2)

" did you just say cut into shreds?" The two tamer and beast said simultaneously, as their face distorted with confusion, not sure of they had heard right. But since the both of them had a good physical body, and the fact that they both asked the same question, that was probably what Evelyn had said.

With a slight chuckle at their reaction, a small smile snickered across her face," you know, you two are a bit interesting," she said, pausiyfor about two seconds before continuing," how do you just enter into an Archive and think you can get passed the red mark without a pass? Is this truly your first trip into an Archive?" She exclaimed, her smile widening at the sheer recklessness of these new customers.

" Oh my God, Kenji!" Haruka exclaimed with a slight frown on her face while turning to Kenji.

Kenji didn’t dare to turn to look at her, as he knew that once he does, he was definitely a goner, and so he acted like he had heard nothing from her and placed his unwavering focus on Evelyn.

" Umm, so miss Evelyn, how do we get these passes so we can go into the lib- I mean Archive without any problems?" He asked, still nit daring to look beside him where Haruka was staring daggers at him.

With the constant smile on her face, Evelyn led them towards a counter where she usually sat so as to monitor the whole library. It was also from this place that she had spotted Kenji and Haruka.

Arriving at the counter, she sat down on a chair and signalled for the other two to sit across her, she then pulled up her glasses off the table and placed them neatly on her face.

Immediately, her ever-so-smiling face vanished, as it was replaced with the eyes of a serious school principal ready to discipline her students.

" So Kenji, please, each of you should place your hand on this crystal ball," she said, pointing right at the crystal ball on the side of her table shimmering with magic.

As Kenji looked straight at the crystal ball, he suddenly felt a wave of memories surfacing up from where he had buried them.

" Yo- You’re a mistake!"

" F rank, and an animal tamer at that!"

" Worthless!"

" It’s time for you to go!"

" Kenji!" Suddenly, a loud voice snapped him out of his momentary daze.

Haruka looked straight at him, her face filled with worry," Are you okay?"

" Wha!- ye- yeah, i’m fine, i’m fine," Kenji stammered, as he felt his heart shake like someone had just struck a hammer at it.

" Well then why did you daze out, I thought o said that you should place your hand on the crystal ball?" Evelyn said, not an ounce of worry was laced on her face. But the same couldn’t be said with Haruka, as, just like Kenji, Haruka’s heart was pounding and her blood was rushing, as she felt a sudden wave of dread and anger wash over her.

She turned her head to stare at Kenji, who was now sweating buckets, her face distorted with worry and concern.

She didn’t know what had just happened, but she knew that what she had just felt was related to Kenji, and he might have also felt the same thing.

One thing about the taming mark is that once the tamer ( Kenji) feels and overwhelm of emotion or pain, some of that would be transferred into the body of his takes beast, allowing then to experience a portion of what their master was feeling.

* Ihope he’s ok* she said silently I her heart, as she decided not yet to confront him about it now. * He’ll tell me what he’s ready anyways, at least he’s okay,*

Kenji then, with shivering hands placed his palm onto the crystal ball. This scene clearly reminded him of when he had been first summoned and asked to place his hands on to the compact orb.

And just like that, he had grown a bit of fear for orbs and crystal balls, as they were the things that made him got thrown out and become termed as a worthless human being.

As his hand landed on the surface of the crystal ball, a shimmering bright light suddenly enveloped his palm and sent a wave of some kind of tingling feeling into his body, but a second later, the same feeling flew out of his hand once more, making him shiver, as it seemed just like the feeling the compact orb had given to him when he was being assessed for the first time.

And there it was!

Another flash of memories.

Tormenting memories that made him want to break down.

But holding on with his strong will, he braced through them like an iron pole in a chaotic and windy scape.

Boom!

Then an explosion boomed in his head, as he seethed in a deep breath through his teeth, causing him to Immediately take his hand off of the ball as fast as he could.

" Great, the analysis has been completed, now it’s your turn miss Haruka," Evelyn said, pretending like she hadn’t noticed anything strange about Kenji.

Haruka, just as silent as ever took in a deep breath, as she wanted to ask Kenji what he was currently feeling, but decided to keep her lips shut. This was not the time.

Haruka then, no longer staring at Kenji placed her own hand on the ball, and in just a few moments, the process was completed.

" Good, now, let me just go and get those passes," She said, as she took the crystal ball along with her into a door behind the counter.

While she was in there, Haruka tried to ask Kenji what was going on, but he just shrugged her off saying he was fine and all, and was just feeling a bit under the weather.

" Are you sure you’re okay?" She asked once more. She didn’t want to tell him that she knew he was lying. I mean how can someone who is okay feel so much dread from touching a crystal ball, what the heck?

But since he kept telling her he was fine, she decided not to prove in too much, as she calmly waited in silence with her tamer, waiting for the Archive pass.

After a while of waiting, Evelyn finally came out of the room with a crystal ball in one hand, and two small card like passes in another.

She then placed them all onto the counter, as she stared at them," that’ll be four hundred silver coins," she said with a slight smile.

Kenji, without saying a word just took out one gold coin and gave it to her, and before Evelyn could process the change, the two customers were suddenly gone.

" Hmm, what an interesting bunch, didn’t think he would have such depressing memories. I’m suprised he hadn’t taken his life yet," she said with a smile," and that little bird, I want her," she exclaimed with a preditorial gaze that could pierce through anything.

Kenji and Haruka had swiftly left the seats and went into the library, safely crossing the red line due to their new Archive pass.

Now, they could enter into any archive without any hindrance.

" Alright, Haruka, you check the rituals section, while I’ll check the beast section, we’ve got to find something in here, there just has to be something," Kenji exclaimed silently, as he and Haruka went their separate ways in search of the same information:

On his side, Kenji passed by a lot of bookworms and scholars reading and diving into the books on their hands, as if there was a big exam coming up.

He had never thought that are, but maybe probably because he didn’t need to. But still, he had children now, and of there was a school in this world, it was only right for them to go to school.

" I’ll check it out later, besides, we’ll be going house shopping in a few days, might as well do them both on the same day," Kenji said, as he began flipping through books on the shelves of the beast section.

He had decided to pick this place instead of the ritual section since he was a beast tamer, with little to know knowledge of beast and beast taming, so this was a perfect opportunity dropped into his laps for him to learn more about beasts.

After about four hours of searching, Kenji was left with no fruits of his labour, as he had found nothing useful related to Haruka’s Bloodline, heck!

He couldn’t even find anything about Cloud-Moon-Fox’s in any books.

" Are they that rare?" He murmured to himself, but while going into deep thought, a small yell broke him back to reality.

"Argh! Leave me alone!"

Since the library was a rather quiet place, any sudden noise would Immediately get everyone’s attention, and the same was to be said about Kenji and Haruka.

They all looked towards the direction of the voice, but we’re shocked by what they saw.

Four men in Black cloaks were surrounding someone rather familiar, and that person was....:

Evelyn!

They were seemingly about to molest her!
