Chapter 58: Reconciliation (1)

Turning around, Haruka walked off towards the balcony, seemingly in need of some fresh air.

Seeing this reaction from her, Fubara looked on at Kenni with a puzzled look in his eyes, while Kenji could only smile wryly to the situation.

The moment Fubara got in, he almost forgot that he and Haruka were in a scuffle, and had still not settled it.

" What was that about? I thought the young lady was having some fun with the way she laughed and all?" Fubara said, asking with an inquisitive gaze that seemed to want to pierce through Kenji’s thoughts.

Scratching the back of his head, Kenji knew that he would have to tell Fubara about their argument now, as if he didn’t, that puzzled gaze would not leave him.

He had stayed with Fubara for two years, and so he understood a bit about the man. When he’s furious, you would never realize it, but when he’s inquisitive and curious, the look of curiosity would always be in his eyes, and he would make sure he got an answer no matter what.

And so he signalled for Fubara to follow him, and immediately Fubara understood Kenji’s signal, he ruffled the hairs of the children once more, as he handed each of them candies to occupy themselves.

He then got up and followed Kenji into the dining area, Where they both sat right across each other.

" So what? Why did the young lady suddenly walked off when we were all having fun and laughing?" Fubara asked inquisitively.

With a small sigh escaping his lips, Kenji began to explain all that had happened right from this morning, till later this evening.

Emphasizing on both his wrongs and Haruka’s reactions to them. Till now, he still felt that she was overreacting to the situation, but he had no way to tell her that and reconcile with her.

Hearing Kenji’s explanation, Fubara’s exppression would twist from curious, to mocking, to serious, to frowns and smiles.

Hearing their rollercoaster of emotions, and how they dealt with each other’s own emotion was a bit comical to him.

* These guys were acting like total babies. I can’t believe they got into a scuffle over such a little thing. Incredible how the youngsters of today react to the slightest of things*

Fubara thought internally, as Kenji closed up his conversation, and decided to keep quiet for Fubara to process it all.

" Wow, this is a really serious matter. I can’t believe this was how she acted, and you too, you guys are truly in a fight," Fubara said, with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

Not that he didn’t care about their argument, but he felt that for them to be arguing over the fact that the other one pushed one away, and so you got angry and decided to tell him all his flaws.

To him, who was over a hundred years, but still looking young, was a complete joke. But he still knew how to act, and the gravity of the situation was still known to him, as the two friends could just breakup over this one little thing.

" Well, Kenji, I think that you should be the bigger person and apologies," said Fubara plainly, suggesting a way to end this babyish battle.

" But I have! I have apologized so many times, but still, she fails to forgive me, what shall I do in such a situation, kill myself? Hell no!" Kenni said resolutly, as he shook his head and folded his arms.

Seeing this, Fubara felt the need to slap his own self, * Are you a child? Just apologize sincerely! And what’s with the reaction, you’re crossing your arms like a child seemingly trying to be an adult! Gha, master when did you become so childish, did you catch a cold?* Fubara thought frustratingly, as he exhaled a long deep breath.

" Look, master. Yes you’ve apologized, but you didn’t apologise for the right thing,"

Hearing Fubara’s words, Kenji felt puzzled," what do you mean by I didn’t apologise for the right thing? I’m pretty sure I did," Kenji said resolutly, still not convinced by Fubara’s words.

With a slight shake of his head Fubara continued," alright then, if I recall correctly, she said that you’ve been stepping into the shadows of someone else, and I as the friend that I am, have to to realize that the person is Yuji and the rest of the heroes right? That’s why you decided to become an adventurer in the first place right? As they are fighting huge big monsters, while you’re fighting huge big carrots. That was your only reason for becoming an adventurer....to be like them,"

Listening to his words, Kenji felt like a bombshell had just been dropped on top of his head.

Fubara was right. He only decided to become an Adventurer because Yuji and the others were also technically like adventurers, except with higher status and power.

He had admired them, or more like fantasized of being like them, even though they had betrayed him and kicked him out. He was still admiring them.

And so the drive of wanting to be just as strong and famous as they were was the thing that made him to become an adventurer, for he believed that the only way was through adventuring.

Realizing all of this, Kenji broke down into tears. Drops of water flowing from his eyes, as he realized that to the ones who had betrayed his trust, he had still followed, like a dog.

Even though they were not here at the moment, they still had their grip and manipulative fingers on him.

He was like a dog, who no matter how many times the master kicked and beat, it still came running back to the master.

Fubara watched on, as he let Kenji slolwly realize this. He did not try to comfort him, or apologize for his harsh words, he just sat there and watched on with an indifferent exppression.

This was required. Even if this wasn’t about Haruka, if he had known Kenji would turn out like this, he would have broken done this reality for him, making sure that he breaks past the level of a loyal dog, to the level of a true man, one who could stand alone, and build his own empire. One who could make people beg and bow just to touch his hands, one who can make a difference, as he did not believe in those heroes the moment he heard Kenji’s story, he only believed in one person.

KENJI, HIS MASTER!

The dark space like area was as abyssal as ever, with only a slight flicker of flame which materialized into the form of a phoenix.

Shreya looked on through the abyss, her eyes piercing the darkness. If there was air in this mindscape, then maybe it would have become chaotic by now.

A small mirror like screen soon appeared, and just like a TV, she could see everything from Kenji’s point of view.

She could hear him talking to Fubara, and she heard Fubara’s words back to him.

" Ha, thank goodness for I do not any longer have to wait, neither do I have to do it myself, as of now, he has began changing, I can see it," She said silently, even though there was no other person around to hear her words.

And as if in reapondance to her words, a slight crack appeared in this dark mind of his, and chains which covered this whole space and invisible, were now clearly visible, each of them humming strong, as of a force was trying to break them off.

They shook and clacked together, like one was trying to break through them and destroy them all.

" Finally, yes finally. He’s about to break through the mindset that had chained him for a long time, he’s about to stop being a slave to his own self. He’s about to break through himself! Hahahahaha!" Shreya exclaimed, laughing out loud like someone who had just gotten the greatest gift in the world.

And just like that, the chains that had clouded his mind, the ones that had made him a slave to his own self, snapped, And shattered.

Back in the real world, Kenni wiped his tears of his face, as he looked on at Fubara," thank you, for everything, then, and now, you truly are the greatest friend and master a man could ever ask for,"

" Thank you, thank you, you’re too kind," Fubara said with a slight bow, just like a theatrical actor, who just finished a scene.

" Now, are you going to apologise, or are you going to keep praising this heavenly handsome?" Fubara questioned with a playful grin.

With a resolute and determined exppression, Kenji got up," It’s time It’s time that I truly apologise this time, " Kenji said, as he left the dining room and headed towards the balcony.

As he arrived at the entrance of the balcony, he took a deep breath, and walked in, ready to tell her everything, and apologies for all of it.
