Chapter 38: Tame A Legendary Beast

As the fireball was about to hit Leo and the girls, a decisive look grew on his face.

*I’m not going to move! I can’t let it hurt my sisters!* Leo thought to himself as he braced for the attack.

*Big Brother Leo!* Both sisters exclaimed internally, their mouths too scared to utter a word.

As the fireball was only inches away from blasting the children, a large hand with claws like that of a bear suddenly struck the fireball with immense force, causing the attack to flatten out and hit a nearby tree! [E/N: Why do the trees always get hurt every time Kenji deals with fireballs?]

The children were surprised to see that someone had blocked the attack, and as they lifted their eyes to see who it was, they were immediately filled with joy.

"Kenji-sama!" they exclaimed in excitement, realizing that the person who had just saved them was once again Kenji.

"Who the hell are you?!" the leader of the group said in pure annoyance, looking Kenji up and down.

Kenji stared at the attacker with the coldest glare imaginable. The glare was so frigid that even if there had been ice nearby, it would have melted due to its intensity.

"How dare you try to hurt my children?!" Kenji exclaimed, a wave of pure anger washing over him.

Hearing his words, the gang leader snickered, "Your children? So these things are yours? Well, that mak—" Before he could finish his sentence, he felt a sharp pain on the left side of his cheek, and by the time he realized the situation, he found himself flying ten feet away from his original position.

He had just been punched in the face... hard!

"Big Brother!" the two other members of the gang exclaimed as they rushed over to their fallen leader.

Seeing this, Kenji smiled. He had just punched the leader in the face, and he felt incredibly satisfied by it. "You even dared to call them ’things’; then you deserve to be beaten," Kenji said, beginning to walk toward them.

"You dared to hurt our leader; then you deserve to die!" the two others shouted simultaneously, anger radiating from them.

"Hyah!" they exclaimed as they both sent huge punches toward him.

Kenji smiled at their futile attempt to strike him. *If even shadow beasts couldn’t kill me, then who do you think you are?!*

As their punches were only an inch away from Kenji’s face, something hard and sharp suddenly held both their hands in place.

"Better luck next time," Kenji said, using all the strength in his body to twist their wrists, causing them immense pain.

*I’m not done yet.* After twisting the two’s wrists, Kenji used the claws in his hands to impale their stomachs, making them fall to the ground in utter pain and defeat.

"Useless," Kenji said coldly, kicking both of their faces.

He would have loved to kill them, but he knew it was wrong to take lives, so he decided against it. Besides, his kids were here; he couldn’t start tearing their heads off in front of them. What if they got traumatized because of that?

After dealing with the two goons, Kenji walked up to the leader, who had just gotten back on his feet. "You bastard! I’m gonna make you pay!" the leader shouted as he conjured up another fireball.

This time, the fireball was immensely strong, not like the one he had conjured a few minutes ago, but really powerful!

Seeing the huge fireball heading toward him, Kenji smiled sinisterly and stayed in place, not moving a muscle. He wasn’t going to dodge or block the attack. On the contrary, he was going to embrace it!

He spread open his arms, a contemptuous smile crossing his face. A few days ago, Shreya had told him he was immune to any fire attack under Phoenix fire, and the only fire power greater than Phoenix fire was dragon flame, meaning fire was the one thing that couldn’t hurt him.

Boom!

The fireball exploded as it came into contact with Kenji’s body. A huge wave of hot energy spread throughout the surroundings, scorching the grass below.

"Hahahahkah!" the leader cackled wickedly, believing that Kenji was now dead. That blast was enough to kill a C rank and severely injure an A rank. Unless Kenji was an S rank, he was dead!

"Kenji-sama!" the children exclaimed simultaneously, fear etched on their faces, as they too thought he was going to die.

But then, as the blast cleared, the outline of a man remained. He stood tall, his blue hair waving in the wind, as his cold blue eyes penetrated through the dust.

"If you think that’s going to be enough to take me down, then I’m sorry. But you’re sorely wrong!" Kenji said loudly, as his body dashed out of the cloud of dust and rushed toward the leader.

In a quick and swift motion, Kenji grabbed the neck of the gang leader. "I’m done playing games with you; it’s time to end this," he said, tightening his grip on the leader’s neck.

"Cough! Pl-please wait! Don’t kill me! Just tell me what you want; I can give you anything!" the leader said, desperately trying to preserve his life.

"I’m sorry, but I don’t need anything from you," Kenji said, tightening his grip once more. He could already feel the leader’s neck bones about to collapse.

"Please! I can give you a Cloud Moon Fox! A legendary bloodline-grade beast! I mean, look, she’s right over there!" said the leader, pointing at the pink lady a few miles away.

Seeing the pink lady, Kenji had an inquisitive look on his face. "Interesting," he said, subconsciously releasing his grip on the leader’s neck and letting him fall to the ground.

He then turned back to look at the gang leader.

"Get out of here! And take your goons along with you!" Kenji said coldly. Immediately, without wasting a single second, the leader scrambled to pick up his half-dead goons and slowly dragged them away.

As he left, he silently swore in his heart that he would return and make Kenji pay. "This isn’t the last time we shall meet," he said before dashing away into the forest.

Kenji then walked up to the children, bending down to give them a big hug. "Are you three alright? He didn’t hurt you anywhere, did he?" Kenji asked as he looked over their bodies, relieved to see that only a few light scratches marred their skin.

"Kenji-sama, we’re fine! At least you’re here now," Pheia said, her voice laced with obvious joy.

"Yeah, you came back! You fulfilled your promise," Leo said, a happy smile on his face.

Leia, on the other hand, clung to Kenji, unwilling to let go of his hands. "Don’t worry, Leia, I’m not going anywhere anytime soon," Kenji reassured her.

Then Leo suddenly walked up to him, pointing at the pink lady. "Kenji-sama, she helped us beat those baddies when you weren’t here. If not for her, you might not have ever seen us again," Leo emphasized, highlighting the pink lady’s contribution.

"Oh really? Well, let’s go help her up," Kenji said as he headed over to her.

When they reached her, he bent down and tried to shake her awake. But unexpectedly, she didn’t stir, causing a frown to cross his face.

"Shreya, appraise her and tell me what happened," Kenji said, a hint of worry creeping into his expression.

[....Analysis Completed]

[Host, this lady is a Cloud Moon Fox of a rare legendary bloodline. Her strength is equivalent to a high-level A rank mage.]

[At the moment, her powers have been bound by a Chaos Bind Pill, causing her immense weakness. If not saved in time, she will experience immense pain and then die.]

[Time remaining before that situation happens is = 00:10:34]

[00:10:33]

Hearing Shreya’s analysis, Kenji’s frown deepened. He would have considered taking her to a healer, but ten minutes wouldn’t be enough for him to return to town, no matter how fast he was.

"Is there anything I can do to help her?" Kenji asked once more, earnestly praying for an answer.

She had helped save his kids; if not for her, he might never have seen them again. So no matter what, he had to show his gratitude for her help.

[Host, at the moment there is only one way: If you use a permanent taming contract on her, all of her injuries will be immediately cured, along with any other ailment and disease. This also applies to the elimination of the Chaos Bind Pill.]

Hearing this, Kenji felt both shocked and a bit excited.

But then another wave of frowning came over him. The reason for this frown was that even if he wanted to tame her, he would need her consent to do so. If even one of the parties in the contract did not accept, then the whole process would be useless.

"Kenji-sama, I think I can heal her a little bit using my power," Leia said, as if sensing what Kenji was thinking.

"You can?" Kenji was surprised by her words. Could Leia really heal her? A legendary bloodline beast?

"Alright, try it," he said, giving his confirmation. He didn’t have any other options, so he hoped it would work.

Leia then walked forward and placed both her tiny palms on the pink lady’s head.

Immediately, a golden light rushed from Leia’s palms into the lady.

After a while, the lady’s eyes fluttered open.
