Chapter 37: Devouring Beast Cores

"YOU’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!" The lady’s voice rang out with a chilling finality as her body floated gracefully in the air like a divine moon goddess. Her form was as flawless as a statue, seemingly sculpted with exquisite care over centuries. Her breathtaking pink eyes complemented the crescent moon symbol on her forehead, amplifying her beauty and mystique.

"Damn it! She escaped! Get her!" barked the group leader, his alarmed tone betraying his panic. Assuming a battle stance, he chanted, "Wind Blades!" The surrounding air churned chaotically before condensing into the razor-sharp shapes of blades.

Without hesitation, he launched the attack toward her, hoping to gain the upper hand.

As the blades surged through the air, the rest of the group sprang into action. They leaped skyward, ascending even higher than the floating pink-haired woman, their attacks coordinated with brutal precision.

*Swish!*

Their legs cut through the air, descending toward her like deadly scythes. But the woman remained unfazed. She stood motionless, a small smirk curling her lips.

*"If you think this is enough to defeat me, you’re sorely mistaken,"* she thought, an air of confidence exuding from her.

At the last possible moment, she moved. With almost supernatural agility, she dodged all of the wind blades before lifting her gaze upward. She saw the two pairs of legs plunging toward her. "Pathetic," she remarked with an unnerving calmness. In a blur of motion, she seized them mid-air, swinging their bodies with practiced ease. After a few dizzying spins, she flung them far into the distance.

*Crash!*

The two landed with dull, bone-jarring thuds, their groans of pain eliciting a satisfied smirk from the pink-haired woman. To her, their suffering was as sweet as honey dripping onto warm bread.

She descended slowly, her demeanor akin to a goddess gracing the mortal realm. The group leader, seeing her approach, stumbled backward in visible panic.

"You locked me up in a cage just because I was under the influence of the Chaos Bind Pill? Do you realize who I am? I have a *legendary bloodline*, you fool. How long did you think its effects would last?" Her voice was like ice, cutting through the air. But just as she was about to continue, her body betrayed her. A wave of drowsiness and weakness surged through her, and she collapsed onto the ground, utterly drained.

Seizing this opportunity, the group’s leader burst into a cackle of triumph. "Kahahaha! You stupid fox!" he sneered, striding up to her prone figure and delivering a vicious kick. Her body skidded a few feet away, her groans of pain feeding his twisted pride.

"How dare you threaten me? How dare you injure my brothers and sister and even kill one of them?" he spat venomously, punctuating his words with another cruel kick. "You claim to have a legendary bloodline, but it seems your ’legendary’ status wasn’t enough to make you immune to the Chaos Bind Pill." His laughter grew even louder, filling the air with his unrestrained malice.

"Brother! Sister! Get over here! I’ve defeated the Cloud Moon Fox!" he crowed, his face alight with smug satisfaction.

His two accomplices, who had been feigning unconsciousness, scrambled to their feet with a newfound vigor.

"Oh my god! You actually did it!" gushed the male subordinate, his voice dripping with admiration. "You’re amazing, brother!"

"Yes, brother, you’re incredible!" chimed in the woman, her voice sultry. She added, with a seductive smile, "As a reward, how about we spend the night together?"

The leader puffed out his chest in pride, his ego swelling with every word. "Of course! I’ll see you in your room by noon. But for now, we have other matters to settle." His eyes shifted to the terrified children and the injured bear.

"Let’s discipline them, shall we? And instead of a quick punishment, how about we make them slaves?" A sinister grin stretched across his face as he advanced toward the children, his depraved minions following closely behind.

"N-no!" the pink-haired woman croaked, her arm weakly outstretched toward the children. But her strength had utterly deserted her.

The bear, however, was not so helpless. With a thunderous roar, it placed itself protectively in front of the children, its eyes blazing with unrelenting resolve.

"If you want them," its gaze seemed to say, "you’ll have to go through me first."

"Gladly," sneered the male subordinate, charging forward and launching a relentless flurry of attacks. The bear fought valiantly but was no match for the human’s overwhelming power. It was flung aside like a ragdoll.

"Stay away from us!" shouted Leo, the eldest child. His small frame trembled, but his voice was fierce as he stood in front of his sisters.

"Sorry, little boy," the leader sneered, "but we aren’t going anywhere." With a quick chant, he conjured a fireball and sent it hurtling toward the children.

The attack blazed through the air with deadly precision. But just as it was about to strike, a massive claw materialized out of nowhere, intercepting the spell.

"What the hell are you?" the leader snarled, his arrogance replaced by shock as he saw the figure standing before him—a blue-haired, blue-eyed man who had stopped his attack with nothing but his bare hand.

The children’s faces lit up with joy and relief. "Kenji-sama!" they cried in unison.

As Kenji clawed his way through the horde of shadow beasts, though he knew their weak spots, it was still difficult to fight over fifty creatures all at once, especially since he doesn’t really have much of a fighting experience to start with.

But with his new powers and heightened vision in which he gained after doing the contract sacrifice, he was still able to stand his ground, though, not without a few major injuries.

His legs were suddenly slashed open by one of the beasts’ claws, causing him to lose his balance and fall to the ground.

But as his body touched the ground, he moved on instincts and twisted his body in a circular manner, cutting off the feet part of the shadows.

As their feet were cut off, all of the shadow beasts also lost their balance and fell. Normally, they would have already grown new feet by now, but Kenji didn’t give them the chance, as he plucked out their eyeballs with his bear claws, sending them into a fray of frenzy, as they all died.

Seeing that he had killed them all, Kenji breathed out a sigh of relief, as he wiped the sweat off his head.

While in the heat of the battle, his mind had been racing as fast as it could, as he did things and moved his body the way he never thought possible.

After that, he decided to sit down and try to recuperate from the battle. He was glad that there wasn’t any high level beasts.

Truthfully, he was expecting that. I mean, just like the few isekai novels he had read whilst back on Earth, he was expecting to have encountered a high-end powerful boss in this dungeon, but luckily enough, it was nothing like that. Or else, he might just have to die again.

[ Host, would you like to devour the beast cores] Shreya’s mechanical voice reverbrated in his ears like a cacophony of loud gongs once more, shaking his very essence with her words.

With this much beast cores, he was definitely going to become stronger!

Hearing this, he smirked," DEVOUR!"

And just like that, all the beast cores on the ground turned into bright shinning orbs of light that flew off the ground and straight into Kenji’s heart.

Arriving outside, Kenji covered his eyes due to the bright rays of the sun, but then, he suddenly heard a few sounds from afar. sounds of battle and groaning losses. He squinted his eyes and looked to the direction, in which the sounds of battle had come from.

And what he saw shook him to the core. It shook him so much that he almost lost control of his sanity, as rage burned within him.

A huge red fireball!
