Chapter 108: inferno domain

Lance charged at Robert, going for the kill. He attacked with his blessing infused into his sword. Robert planted his feet into the ground, his sword coated with a pure red flame. He blocked the attack, and the ground underneath him cracked from the force.

Lance stared at him with pure hatred, pushing down with his sword as much as he could.

"Stay away from my brother," Chloe spoke in her whisper-like voice and shot an ice lance. Lance saw it quickly and leaped back, dodging the attack.

He landed a few metters back, huffing and puffing, and stared at Chloe. "How is a monster capable of casting magic? I have to take it down first," he said and charged at her, wanting to take her down first.

"That’s not happening," Noel yelled. He and Mia attacked at the same time, their attacks coming from different angles. Lance looked at both of them and quickly made a decision.

"Die, you filthy monsters!" he roared and stabbed his sword into the ground. Sword lights shot out of the ground like spikes, attacking both of them.

Noel attacked the sword lights with his lightning-covered sword, shattering them quickly. Mia blasted through the sword lights with her sword coated in mana.

Lance was shocked to see that they took care of his attack easily, but he wasn’t stopping. He attacked Noel, wanting to take him down first. His attack was clean and perfect.

It was about to hit Noel, but then Noel vanished. Shocked, Lance turned around only to see the side of Mia’s blade slamming into his head. He shot through the air and slammed into the wall.

Noel reappeared in front of him, wanting to knock him out finally, but Lance was not having any of that. His eyes shined brighter, and a white flame covered his body.

Immediately, Riven, who had been watching, saw that flame. He rushed toward Noel.

"Noel!" he yelled, running fast, but he was late as the flame moved like it had a mind of its own and slammed into him, throwing Noel back and burning his chest.

His clothes had not burned, but somehow his skin underneath had a heavy burn. Riven already knew what this flame was. It was a holy soul flame, infused with a mind and consciousness of its own.

It was one of the most terrifying abilities that Lance had. Riven didn’t think he would use the flames here.

Lance got up on his feet, his flames forming six extensions like tails, and with them, he started attacking. Each flame tail shot toward each of them.

Riven blocked the flame and rushed to block the one headed for Noel.

"Thanks," Noel said.

"Yeah yeah, just get back on your feet. We don’t have much time. We have to take out that idiot," Riven said.

The flames attacked again, and Riven blocked them, but he was pushed back by them. Noel quickly drank a healing potion and got into position to fight.

Riven looked around; everyone was battling their own flame tail.

"I can get to Lance, but I need all of you to trust me no matter what I do or say," he yelled. Everyone looked at him after he spoke. There was no response for a moment, and then Robert spoke.

"Alright then, rank one. We will put our trust in you," Robert said and looked at Liana. She reluctantly nodded, because none of them were able to get close to Lance, so they had no choice.

"Thank you. Now everyone attack with everything you’ve got. Just buy me a few seconds and I’ll take it from there," Riven said. Everyone nodded in agreement and then let hell loose.

Noel’s sword crackled with lightning, spreading to his arms and then all over his body. His eyes shined blue. He blasted off with so much speed and force that the ground underneath him exploded.

His attack destroyed two flame tails and headed for the main flame.

Mia gathered wind mana around her sword. It twisted in two different directions, moving so fast that it cut into the ground without touching it. She attacked the flame tail, destroying it, and headed for the main flame.

Robert and Chloe both attacked—flame and ice. Chloe used a massive ice lance, and Robert thrust his sword covered in flames.

Liana shut her eyes. Her mana rose and became sharp before turning into flames. The flames soon turned into a green flame, covering her entire body and then condensing into her sword. She slashed with all her strength.

All the attacks moved simultaneously, destroying the flame arms and heading for the main flame. Lance, seeing the attacks, knew he had to defend. He immediately condensed all the flame around him, creating protective body armor.

The attacks landed, causing a massive explosion that blasted a huge hole in the heavily reinforced wall.

But Riven knew that there was no way Lance was down. The flames were not that easy to beat, so he activated the final part of the attack.

"Everyone get as far away from me as possible!" Riven yelled, and they immediately retreated as fast as they could.

"Inferno Domain," Riven called out. Immediately, the temperature around him rose rapidly. The heat spread out for twenty meters. The heat waves were visible to the others from outside.

"So this is the Inferno Domain," Riven said, looking around him. He looked up at Lance. The dust had settled, and he could see Lance standing with a fluctuating flame around him.

"Seems like their attack did its job. Now it remains on me. I’ll knock you out, hero," Riven said. The intense heat from the domain was burning through Lance’s weak flame, and the heat was getting to his skin. It was only a matter of time before it began burning him.

But Riven already knew that Lance had a system, and so he had a lot more in his arsenal. If he let him catch his breath, that would make things harder for him.

Author’s note

[I feel like I should put this here just in case. They aren’t weaker than Lance by a lot that it would need six of them to take him down, but they aren’t trying to kill him, while he is, so it made the situation harder. ]
