Chapter 103: A very bad meeting
The loud sound made everyone turn to look at the door. A man with a massive beer belly and a bald head walked into the restaurant, draped in the finest robes. There was a smug look on his face, as if he was on top of the world.
Following the man were three rough-looking men in leather armour. They looked more like bandits than guards.
Riven only spared the man a few seconds before returning to his food and eating. Mia had also seen this type of noble—those that flaunt it recklessly. She didn’t bother paying attention to the man; she ate her food as well.
But the man didn’t like that. Immediately, he laid eyes on the two of them and saw that they weren’t paying attention to him. At this point, he had not seen the crest of the academy on their uniforms.
He rushed towards them, his face contorted in anger. He placed his hand on Riven’s shoulder, making Riven stop eating.
"You brat, I don’t like the way you are eating. Leave here at once," he barked. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the two of them.
The noble was feeling all high and mighty until suddenly he felt a cold unlike anything he had felt before, and a heat that burned as hot as hell.
Until this day, he never thought it was possible to feel cold and heat at the same time. He was sweating and shivering simultaneously.
His eyes met with the cold glare of Riven and Mia. He instinctively tried to step back, but Riven was not having any of that. He grabbed hold of the man’s hand, picked his fork, and stabbed it into the back of the hand.
"Don’t ever lay your hands on me, you filthy pig," Riven said. The man cried in pain and tumbled backwards, screaming, his hand stretched out and bleeding.
"I just lost my appetite," Mia said. Riven nodded in response and got up. It was then that everyone saw they were not normal citizens—they were students of the Royal Academy.
"You brats, how dare you? I don’t care if you are students of the academy, stabbing a noble is a crime! I’ll have your heads!" the noble yelled and pointed at both of them. "Get them for me!" he roared.
His guards looked at the two of them. One walked forward with a smile. He pulled out a short sword with a sinister grin on his face.
"Sorry, kids, you might be students of the academy, but my boss is a marquis, and so you have wronged the wrong person," the man said and charged in.
Riven was ready to block the attack, but in the next second, he heard a whip-like sound followed by a loud explosive sound.
Bam.
The man’s head had been buried deep into the floor from a kick by Mia. "I’m your servant for a week, allow me to take care of things like this," she said and ran forward. The second man tried to attack, but she grabbed his hands and flipped him over her shoulder, headfirst into the floor.
The last one seemed hesitant to attack. She charged at him, spun, and landed a kick to the side of his face, throwing him into a table.
From start to finish, not even ten seconds had passed, and she had taken them out. Riven was genuinely impressed by her abilities—the way she fought was truly the result of training.
The marquis watched in horror. Never did he think that his men would be knocked out like that. He stared at her with fear in his eyes.
"A marquis attacking a student from the academy and the daughter of Duke Runeblade—your crimes are worthy of death," she said.
The man froze when he heard that. "Y-you ar-e the daughter of the Duke? The pr-odigy of the Runeblade family?" the man said in shock. He immediately slammed his face into the ground, disregarding the pain in his hand.
"I am sorry for what I have done, I had no idea that you were the one," he said.
"That’s no excuse, you filthy ant thinking you’re a god," she said. Her condescending look was worse than before. "Get out," she said coldly. The man immediately got up and rushed toward the door. He ran out of the restaurant without stopping.
The marquis made his way into an alley to rest. He had never been disrespected this much before. He pulled out the fork in his hand and yelled in pain.
"Arghh, if only Father would allow me to become the marquis finally, I would have a real army for me to use. That little brat would not have been able to do this to me," he said, his chest rising and dropping quickly.
"Do you want them dead?" Suddenly, he heard a voice from the darkness of the alley. He looked in the direction and saw Mathias and the blonde boy standing there.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"Someone who hates those students as much as you do right now. I’m sure you want to take out that boy that stabbed you and that snotty girl as well," the blonde boy said.
"What the hell are you talking about?" the man asked.
"No need to act confused. I want you to help me so that I can help you in return. I need your help to take down those students. If you provide the resources for the both of us, we will make sure we kill them for you.
You can have their heads as trophies later. All you need to do is help us," he explained.
"And why should I believe what you are saying right now? How do I know this is not a trick?" the man asked.
"That’s simple—let us make a blood oath. An unbreakable bond and a show of resolve that we will definitely kill them." The blonde boy said, his killing intent sipping out.
